All questions, but my biggest one is why does the mom and daughter look like the same age. In real life there is an 11 year difference in their age. They didn't do a good job with that particular casting, but other than that it's ok so far.
The premier just seemed to drag on as I waited for something, anything, worth watching to happen. I'm not sure which is worse, another angsty teen as a TV lead, or Quinto's "old man" character. I'll probably give it another shot and see where it goes from there.
The only part I truly enjoyed was some little Easter eggs on a map with Pennywise Circus, Lovecraft Keyhole, and Tree House of the Mind.

Season 2 was BADDDDDD ! When I reach into my bag of tiles I see cancelation in it's future ☠
It's an interesting story-line, and Zachary Quinto is doing an excellent job portraying his character, especially when he transitions between the various age ranges that Charlie Manx occupies. But the female lead, Ashleigh Cummings playing Vic McQueen, is completely miscast. She's a 28 year old woman playing a teenager! If that wasn't bad enough, the actress they got to play her mother, Virginia Kull playing Linda McQueen, is 39 years old, and she doesn't look like her mother, but like her sister. Then they gave Vic McQueen an old-fashioned hairstyle, she looks like Adrienne Barbeau straight out of Maude from 1972! The character looks closer to her mother's age, than an 18 year old teenager. It's completely distracting, it's hard to suspend your disbelief, everytime you see the character you can't believe that she's a teenager.
I read the book, but like any other book-to-big screen adaptation, I didn't expect it to be just like the book. NOS4A2 is my favorite horror story and Joe Hill is one of my all time favorite authors. The show is definitely different, but still extremely interesting. I highly recommend giving the show and the book a try.

- TriviaWhile Charlie Manx looks at his map, several of the locations seen on the map are connected to works by both Joe Hill himself and Hill's father, Stephen King.
Derry, Maine, is marked as "Pennywise Circus". Derry, Maine is the setting of Stephen King's "IT". Pennywise and Manx both like to steal children using seemingly innocent ideas turned deadly (clowns, and Christmas respectively). And both exist in places where reality is thin.
"The treehouse of the mind", is also featured in Joe Hill's second published novel "Horns", and according to Hill himself is both an inscape and also a means to access the inscape, much like the Wraith in NOS4A2.
"Lovecraft keyhole", probably refers to Joe Hill's comic book "Locke & Key", which takes place in the fictional town of Lovecraft, and where keys and keyholes play a significant role.
