Screenwriter DeWitt Jones loosely based this script from W. W. Jacobs' short thriller "The Monkey's Paw" and an segment of CBS series The Twilight Zone "What You Need." These two stories reveal characters with selfish desires and wishes which are granted through terrifying chain of events where fate leads the characters to their desired goals with devastating consequences.
This film is loosely based off of WW. Jacob's short story "The Monkey's Paw."
The film never shows what was in the bag. The writer DeWitt Jones intentionally wrote the ambiguous artifact to align with the spiritual element in the story. Humans can't see, hear or feel the unseen God or Devil, however based on a person's faith or lack of faith, their life will be heavily influenced by either one.
In the movie, each wish honored by the jinn is met with a mandatory unfair compensation for interfering with fate.
