  • The wacky team at Bluebird Films does a riff on Curtis Hanson's beloved "L.A. Confidential" with the XXX version "Inside Story", not really torn from any headlines but rather straight out of the gonzo play book. Its large cast of familiar lovelies kept me happy, having long since given up on any Bluebird feature making any sense.

Cast is mainly American, but is headed by Linsey Dawn McKenzie, a top-heavy Brit starlet who has an interesting, even sinister look, but has never been used properly on screen (her step-daughter Sophie Dee has had far more success).

Linsey's cast as an intrepid reporter for a Hollywood tabloid edited by Rocco Reed, and she's sent out to uncover a scandal involving a secret sex society: the year is 1957 (time of Errol Flynn's last days).

There are several occasions for sex, including the trademark Bluebird orgies, along the way, but I found the finale of Linsey infiltrating, being found out and yet invited to join in the humping, all with her trusty camera & flash bulbs at the ready to incriminate the guilty, way less than convincing -it was merely stupid. This feature is credited to two highly untalented Bluebird staffers: director "Marc Twain" (auteur of the horrendous Statham ripoff "Cranked") and producer "Martha Washington". Under the circumstances I would have felt truth in advertising should have required Bluebird to choose the pseudonym "Benedict Arnold" instead.

In the sex department, Linsey and Dylan Ryder tie for breast in show, while several favorites of mine including young Yurizan Beltran and April O'Neil (this video was made over 5 years ago) get lost in the shuffle.

Typical Bluebird sloppiness has a key subplot involving the use of starlets made over to resemble Hollywood icons for the delectation of brothel customers introduced and poorly developed -so we get Avy Scott - a wonderful porn star but lousy choice to impersonate Marilyn Monroe and even less suitable Madelyn Marie, star of Bluebird's large-scale "Batfxxx", cast as a knock-off of Carmen Miranda. It's mistakes like this that have resulted in me being perhaps the only person on earth who laments Bluebird's demise - but I have no worries, with hundreds of their titles just waiting at home to be viewed in search of a few good ones.
