There's certainly something farcical inside this picture, where the characters, especially the protagonist, are so exaggerated as to get caricatures of themselves, and situations get sometimes grotesque. However, this farce works, bringing about a lot of fun, and even tenderness. Dany Boom's facial expressions and mimic are simply exhilarating and would be enough to make one laugh, but he is surrounded and supported by amusing folks, who help to give rise to an enjoyable comedy, where drama comes only near the end to awaken a spirit of loving fatherhood, thus arousing also tender feelings. Comedy prevails, and successfully.

    Cheap
Danny Boon is never really cheap - his character here on the other hand: yes that is one cheap ... Dude. Now if you are a fan of his, I don't have to convince you. You know what he is capable of. If you don't know him, I would suggest you watch the trailer to see if he hits the humor spot with your taste. Because it always is something different for viewers.

I can argue that most things work, especially because his character has a lot to learn. And while he may seem despicable at first (though some may sympathize with him more I reckon), we still the pain he is going through. Yes that pain is somewhat superficial, but that doesn't mean our main character isn't hurt. Yes it is also predictable, but it is also quite fun to watch. It is heightened to a degree you may wonder if real people would act the same way sometimes ... but that would take the fun out of it. It is slightly based in reality of course, but has not put roots down ... just a comedy then, but a quite good/decent one

A middle-aged musician earns good money but lives like a pauper, eating food that is well past its "best before" date, living in darkness and taking ice-cold showers. Most of his neighbours and colleagues have learned to shun him, knowing that it is almost impossible to prise him loose from his self-imposed misery. Still, something might be moving on the genealogical front...

"Radin" is basically a feelgood "Scrooge" story, about a misanthropic miser who opens his heart under the influence of both love and shock. As a movie, it is best appreciated for its fine, talented cast and its beautiful performances. There are also some nice jokes and gags, some of them musical : this must be one of the few movies in history where Vivaldi's "Four seasons" is compressed into a running time of 12 or 13 minutes.

Sadly "Radin" suffers from over-exaggeration. The protagonist isn't just thrifty ; he's obsessed with saving and hoarding money to the point where he cuts himself off from logic, reason and normal human contact. It feels more like a psychiatric affliction than like a vice, a quirk or a character trait, meaning that it feels more oppressive and pitiful than funny. Moreover, this obsession with frugality is so all-consuming that it makes his total and sudden redemption pretty unbelievable.

But it's not a bad movie ; just a movie with a number of problems. If you watch it, be sure to watch the first few minutes closely : they're pretty funny AND unusual.
  • In the womb, Baby Dany hears his mum berate his spend thrift dad and grows to be a congenital tight wad living in a Jacques Tati Cul de sac, (where the neighbours hate him) and playing violin for an orchestra with fetching cellist Arné. This is disrupted by the arrival of daughter (cut price condom) Schmidt.

Clever routines - the block meeting in Dany's flat where he can't escape, playing The Four Seasons against the clock or using his bank manager as a therapist - are expertly delivered under the supervision of "Polar" specialist Cavayé.

Totally undemanding entertainment is a welcome break from the more purposeful sub-titled offerings.

"Radin!" is a Comedy movie in which we watch a man saving money all of his life and trying to cut his expenses when he finds out that he has a daughter who has an expensive style of living and drives him crazy.

I enjoyed this movie because it had plenty of humor and many funny moments. It also contained many hilarious reactions of the main characters and a simple but interesting plot. The interpretation of Dany Boon who played as François Gautier was simply amazing and he made the difference. Some other interpretations that have to be mentioned were Noémie Schmidt's who played as Laura, Laurence Arné's who played as Valérie and Patrick Ridremont's who played as Cédric. Lastly, I have to say that "Radin!" is a nice comedy movie and I highly recommend everyone to watch it because I am sure that you will enjoy it and you will laugh a lot.
  • For me this is the like of such comedies as Radin! which seem light-hearted, silly, too hyperbolized and over the top on the surface that turn out to be something more than meets the eye. Like with most comedies it takes a problem, overly dramatizes it in favor of laughs (which are almost non-existent here), spices it up with a bit of family drama, love story, mistaken identity issues and we have it, almost word-for-word, a blueprint for an average comedy movie to waste your saturday night on. But is it really that bad to be so formulaic? I think not. Radin! has plenty to give, from the thought about where do our taxes go to the simple truth of not judging a book by its cover; it also provides us with a good portion of drama (although also a bit formulaic in terms of performance) and unwillingly squeezes the tears out of the eyes - what you never expect from a comedy - which totally gives this movie more credit and a couple of extra points to my final rating. Overall this is a no time-waster, there is a laugh and a smirk here and there (mostly in one scene) with something to think about afterwards but despite that it's just all too safe, overly exaggerated and too unfunny to be a comedy.
  • Why you believe that Hispano-America is a desert or jungle place, with small houses that fall. a totally wrong idea of what is Hispano-America, Did you know that Mexico already had a very well designed sewer system when England had its mud streets, mexico was the first in america to had a big cities. Mexico Df is a big metropolis. did you know that.

Ok, French movies are 90% boring and plotless. This one is also stupid. In my reviews I assigned high scores to many films with Daniel Auteil or others like comedies, where French are masters. But this one not. I would have rated 0 or max 1. I assigned a 2 only for a quick concert they played at very courageous speed. More or less the unique 30-40 seconds worth to watch. The rest is pathetic.
  • I love it ! It has something special, the subject is well shown. It's not just comedy, this movie tries to explain the feelings and the situation in witch is put an tightfisted, his social problems.

Maybe, next time we will see one, we would be more sympathetic with him, because it's hard to live like this, but it's kind of in this blood, It is a trait of character.

I liked the fact that the movie shows the beginning of this avidity, his parents, education is one more time so important.

And maybe every tightfisted is not so complicated like this one, maybe we can help him, we can be that neighbor who helps him, may if he doesn't do always the same ;) In fact, this movie can affect a lot of tightfisted people.
