The 24 franchise has become one of the most popular action franchises of all time, and a major chunk of this recognition and fame goes to none other than Kiefer Sutherland. This is because the actor immaculately embodied the lead role of Jack Bauer for more than a decade, giving such an epic performance that we fans aren’t willing to have anyone else in the role anymore.

Then again, reboots of such major sagas are only inevitable, and for one as successful and fan-beloved as this respective one, it doesn’t sound like a bad idea as it will make a lot of fans’ wishes come true. But while that’s that, I’m convinced no one could replace Sutherland and work in his place better than the actor himself, especially after his remark on his 24 journey.

Kiefer Sutherland was best known as one of the young ones in Stand By Me before he hit it big with the show 24. Playing Jack Bauer, a federal agent tasked with thwarting a terrorist threat within 24 hours, Sutherland became a household name and his character became one of the most celebrated agents in pop culture.
However, Sutherland is one of the few actors who got to own yet another action-oriented character on TV. He starred as the reluctant President Thomas Kirkman in Designated Survivor, which unfortunately did not enjoy the longevity of 24 despite his character’s similarity to Bauer.

Kiefer Sutherland has starred in innumerable projects over the course of the past few decades that he has been a part of the entertainment industry, but the 24 franchise still manages to top the list. Among all of his uncountable acting credits over the years, he has pulled off the role of Jack Bauer so exceptionally that there’s no one else fans would want to see in the role.

That said, when it comes to the respective character that he embodied for more than a decade and has even won a Primetime Emmy and a Golden Globe for, Sutherland is more than just open to return to the screens in yet another action-filled masterpiece. But while he aims to come back, the actor also has a rather upsetting update on the franchise’s revival and his return.

If ‘Paradise’ left you craving more twists and betrayals, these thrillers are a must-watch.
Hulu’s “Paradise” is the kind of show that hooks you early and never lets go. If you haven’t seen it, best you forget everything you’ve read about the show before it came out… because you’re in for a very different (and awesome ride). Without giving too much away, it’s got the perfect mix of political intrigue, dystopian sci-fi, and edge-of-your-seat suspense. And if you’ve already blown through all the episodes, you’re probably looking for something just as intense to watch next.
The best political thrillers keep you questioning everything, and “Paradise” delivers that in spades. Whether it’s secret alliances, shifting loyalties, or the creeping fear that no one is telling the full truth, the show keeps you on your toes until the very end. But “Paradise” isn’t...

Maddie Bosch has big, lingering questions about her father, as seen in the first trailer for the third and final season of Bosch: Legacy.
At the close of Season 2, you’ll remember, Maddie (Madison Lintz) learned that her kidnapper, Kurt Dockweiler, died in prison of an overdose — likely murder via forced heroin injection. The finale ended with Maddie answering a collect call, on her dad’s phone, from inmate Preston Borders, who reported, “Tell your father that I did what he wanted…. Dockweiler. Tell him I took care of it.” Shellshocked, Maddie could barely utter, “Dad, what did you do?...

Zero Day is one of Netflix's most popular and talked about shows at the moment, which doesn't come as a surprise given its compelling storyline and amazingly talented cast. I mean, who wouldn't want to watch a show starring big names such as Robert De Niro, Angela Bassett, Jesse Plemons, Lizzy Caplan, Connie Britton, etc.?
The entire first season of the new political thriller dropped on Netflix on Feb. 20, and with just six episodes, it didn't take long for viewers to binge-watch the whole installment. As expected, many rushed to search for details about a potential second season. However, they may not find the news they were hoping for. With Zero Day being billed as a limited series, the chances of it returning with a new season are slim, as its storyline is intended to be a self-contained narrative.
While this is disappointing news, there's no need to fret...

There’s a whole lot of James T. Kirk in the air these days. William Shatner recently said he’s soon to talk to a Star Trek show writer about possibly reprising the character, and Shatner voiced Kirk in the 2024 short film Unification (with Sam Witwer as the physical Kirk). Paul Wesley portrayed Kirk in seasons one and two of Strange New Worlds and has been confirmed to recur again in the upcoming third season of the series. And, one of these days, if the stars align, Chris Pine may yet again portray Kirk in a fourth feature with the Kelvin timeline Enterprise crew back in action.
But what if the Kelvin crew don’t return? Paramount will surely want to reboot Star Trek again as a film. And if that happens, who might settle into the captain’s chair? Let’s consider a couple of actors in their 40s,...

As “Cobra Kai” comes to an end after a six-season run and 65 episodes, it stands as one of the most successful examples of the “Netflix bump,” where the power of the leading streaming service’s platform gave a series a new lease on life and propelled it into the cultural zeitgeist.
Back when the series made its debut, “Cobra Kai” — a legacy sequel to the 1984 hit “The Karate Kid” that explored the life of the original film’s villain Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) — served as one of the crown jewels in YouTube’s push into original content via YouTube Premium (formerly YouTube Red). Despite toiling in relative obscurity behind the subscription tier of the new service, the show premiered to quite a bit of success and positive reviews in 2018, garnering 50 million views in its first five months and earning a Season 2 renewal just six days after its launch.

Before the love triangle of Brad Pitt-Angelina Jolie-Jennifer Aniston became the biggest celebrity scandal of the 2000s, we had another celebrity love triangle in the ’90s. Kiefer Sutherland was all set to marry Julia Roberts in 1991, but the marriage never happened and Roberts was later spotted with actor Jason Patric, who was one of Sutherland’s best friends.

Filmmaker Jeannot Szwarc earned directing credits on 80 different projects over the course of a career that spanned more than 50 years – but most movie fans will likely remember him as the director of the shark thriller sequel Jaws 2, the time travel romance Somewhere in Time, and/or the DC Comics adaptation Supergirl. Sadly, Szwarc is no longer with us, as his Somewhere in Time star Jane Seymour took to social media to confirm that he has passed away at the age of 85. Seymour wrote, “Today, we say goodbye to a true visionary. Jeannot Szwarc was not just a brilliant director but a kind and generous soul. French director Jeannot Szwarc has died, it’s been announced. He was 85 years old.
Understandably, the film world is mourning the loss overnight of one of its true greats, David Lynch. Lost a little though is that a fine genre director also passed away.
French director Jeannot Szwarc died on Wednesday 15th January, it was announced, at the age of 85.
Born in Paris, Swarc moved to America and cut his teeth on popular television shows such as Kojak and The Rockford Files. But for the movie-going generation of the 1970s and 1980s, it was his feature films that drew the most attention.
His big break was arguably 1978’s Jaws 2 (pictured), getting the nod when Steven Spielberg declined the opportunity to return to the sequel (and after original director John Hancock was fired). Perhaps his most acclaimed American film followed, 1980’s Somewhere In Time, starring Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour.

Kiefer Sutherland has appeared in multiple acclaimed films and shows in the past few years. While his role as Jack Bauer in 24 is probably his most well-known, his appearances in Stand by Me, A Few Good Men, and the drama Designated Survivor have brought him a lot of recognition. His 1987 vampire comedy The Lost Boys became a cult hit.
Sutherland plays David, a vampire who acts as the gang leader of a local bike gang and befriends the protagonists. Sutherland’s character has gained a cult following, with David being regarded as one of the greatest villains in pop culture. While there were plenty of scenes for him to shine, one gory deleted scene would have made David a legend.

Clint Eastwood is a legend among legends. The actor and director is potentially getting ready to retire, and since he's firmly in his 90s, it's fair to say he's earned it. But Eastwood had at least one more for the road in the form of the acclaimed courtroom drama "Juror #2." Luckily, viewers won't have to wait too long to be able to watch this one from the comfort of home since Warner Bros. didn't let it have a long run in theaters. The film will be readily available to watch before Christmas.
"Juror #2" was released in just 50 theaters with the studio not even reporting the box office returns. Warner Bros. had apparently planned to give this a direct-to-streaming release in the first place, but instead opted to let it have a brief run in limited theaters, perhaps to qualify for the Oscars. Academy Award winner Clint Eastwood’s legal thriller Juror #2, starring Nicholas Hoult (upcoming Superman), has been set to begin streaming exclusively on Max on Friday, December 20.
News of the premiere date follows the film’s quite limited theatrical release on November 1 to less than 50 theaters nationwide. The move saw distributor Warner Bros. Pictures draw criticism from many corners for not properly supporting perhaps one of the final films of a legendary 94-year-old director — a project that has also happened to garner positive reviews, from someone with a longstanding history with the studio.
Among the prominent voices in the filmmaking community who have advocated on Eastwood’s behalf is Guillermo del Toro, who recently took to rising social platform Blue Sky to discuss his experience with the film. Said Del Toro in part, “We saw [the film] at the Grove with a significant crowd that was vocal and responsive all the way. I...

“Nightingale,” an action thriller set against the backdrop of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, has pulled the curtain back on its ensemble, casting “Special Ops: Lioness” and “1883” star Lamonica Garrett to lead the picture. Jason Patric, Andrew Howard and Daniel Bernhardt are also starring.
The picture comes from producers Isaac Lewis and Andrew Lewis of Denton Film. Low-budget staple William Kaufman is directing the feature, which recently wrapped principal photography in Bulgaria. Kaufman co-write the script with Paul Reichelt, who also serves as executive producer.
Garrett is best known for his roles on “Sons of Anarchy” and “Designated Survivor.” He stars in “Nightingale” as an American Special Forces Operator and private military contractor, who must balance tending to civilian lives while rescuing his adoptive daughter, who is kidnapped and taken hostage by Russian forces in Ukraine. Patric plays a CIA handler with a shared history with Garrett’s character.

Star Wars fandom is fuming right now after Lucasfilm has reportedly closed a deal with Simon Kinberg to develop another Star Wars trilogy. While the report suggested that Kinberg is onboarded for a continuation of The Skywalker Saga, insiders disputed the claim and shared that the new trilogy will begin a new saga. Either way, fans do not want the project to be associated with Kinberg.

Kinberg’s recent portfolio hasn’t been very colorful. He is often credited with singlehandedly ruining the X-Men franchise with his involvement in some of the later projects. Little do fans know that he was an executive producer on the latest film in the X-Men series (now Marvel), Deadpool & Wolverine.

May the Force be with Simon Kinberg, who’s recently signed a deal with Lucasfilm to write and produce a new Star Wars trilogy. Kinberg’s writing credits include the screenplay for Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes, 2015’s Fantastic Four, and multiple films in Fox’s X-Men franchise, including X-Men 3: The Last Stand, X-Men: Days of Future Past, X-Men: Apocalypse, and Dark Phoenix. He’ll produce the new Star Wars trilogy for Lucasfilm alongside the studio’s chief, Kathleen Kennedy.
According to Deadline, Simon Kinberg’s Star Wars trilogy involves episodes 10-12 of The Skywalker Saga. However, insiders say Kinberg aims to launch a new saga that goes hand in hand with developing Star Wars projects from James Mangold, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, Taika Waititi, and Donald Glover. Lucasfilm remains tight-lipped on the matter, which doesn’t surprise me after I saw their security measures when I visited Industrial Light & Magic last month.

Kiefer Sutherland returns his action roots in a new Sierra Madre image as hopes remain high he'll return for a 24 movie. Directed by Justin Chadwick, Sierra Madre stars Sutherland as Captain Jordan Wright, the leader of an elite squadron who finds himself in a battle with violent cartels after he and his men take leave for a wedding in Mexico. Delbert Hancock and Ian Mackenzie Jeffers penned the script for the film, which also stars Ashton Sanders, Laura Osma, Solly McLeod, and Omar Chaparro, among others.
Screen Daily now provides a first look at Sutherland in Sierra Madre, which they say is currently filming in Colombia. The image features Sutherland, sporting a beard and wearing a black jacket in a jungle-like environment, holding a submachine gun and looking worriedly at something off-screen. No other cast members are present in the image, unfortunately, but the star certainly looks right at home back in the action genre.

It was an exceptionally quiet weekend at the box office. The only major new release was Robert Zemeckis' experimental drama "Here," which had a muted $5 million opening. So, holdovers like "Venom: The Last Dance," "The Wild Robot," and "Conclave" were responsible for holding down the fort, resulting in a weekend where the domestic box office totaled less than $75 million. That's not great. Clearly, there was room for more. Specifically, Warner Bros. may well have missed an opportunity here with Clint Eastwood's "Juror #2."
Readers would be forgiven for not knowing that Eastwood, a legend both as an actor and director, has a new movie in theaters, seeing as "Juror #2" was released in roughly 50 theaters in the U.S. this past weekend, with no expansion planned. WB is, essentially, only releasing the movie in theaters at all so that it can qualify for the Oscars later this year. At this time,...

Clint Eastwood is an undeniable icon of film. From his on-screen roles in Westerns like "The Good, The Bad and the Ugly" to his efforts behind the camera in massive hits like "American Sniper," the man has been a huge part of American cinema for decades. But it seems his time as a filmmaker is coming to a close, as Warner Bros.' upcoming "Juror #2" is being billed as his final film. That's one great hook for an awards season campaign. That being the case, the film's release next weekend could be looked at as a meaningful start to this year's Oscar race at the box office. It comes with many questions and complications.
The problem with Eastwood's latest is that Warner Bros. is reportedly only releasing the movie in roughly 50 theaters across the U.S. That would be fine to start but it seems like there are currently no plans for expansion.

After Evil suffered an early cancelation, the show has earned renewed viability through streaming platforms, and the creators are weighing in on this. Having debuted in 2019, the series tells the story of a group of three wildly different characters who work together to investigate reported supernatural cases throughout the New York area. It concluded on August 22 after the season 4 finale, but hope remains that Evil could move to another streaming service sometime in the future.
In an interview with Screen Rant's Tessa Smith at New York Comic Con, co-creators Michelle and Robert King spoke up about Evil's potential to return. The creative duo reflected on the fact that the show has earned more love through streaming on Paramount+ and Netflix, but they believe that the audience came too late. There is still hope for a streaming return, but it remains to be seen. Check out their responses below:
Michelle King: It's fantastic.

“Revival,” Syfy’s upcoming adaptation of Tim Seeley and Mike Norton’s Image Comics series of the same name, has set its main cast. Led by Melanie Scrofano, Romy Weltman, David James Elliott and Andy McQueen, the series has entered production in New Brunswick, Canada.
The official logline for “Revival” reads, “On one miraculous day in rural Wisconsin, the recently deceased suddenly rise from their graves. But this is no zombie story, as the ‘revived’ appear and act just like they once were. When local officer and single mother Dana Cypress is unexpectedly thrown into the center of a brutal murder mystery of her own, she’s left to make sense of the chaos amidst a town gripped by fear and confusion where everyone, alive or undead, is a suspect.”
Scrofano plays Dana, who is “constantly having to prove her worth to a stubborn sheriff, who just so happens to be her father.

The action crime drama was the second spinoff in the NCIS franchise and the third show overall. Before "Salem's Lot" returned to the zeitgeist with a highly-anticipated reboot movie, the Stephen King classic was a miniseries that shook the world. Directed by "Texas Chain Saw Massacre" mastermind Tobe Hooper, the two-part 1979 series was event TV at its spookiest.
The original "Salem's Lot" limited series has never been among the best King adaptations out there, but it holds a unique place in pop culture history thanks to its status as one of the earliest on-screen takes on a King book — plus some truly frightening moments. Several members of the show's sprawling ensemble cast, including David Soul, James Mason, Lance Kerwin, and vamp actor Reggie Nalder, have passed away in the decades since "Salem's Lot" first beamed its way into our collective consciousness. Of the actors who are still with us, several have gone on to award-winning careers in film and television, while others retired or found fulfillment in other careers.

Negan's introduction in The Walking Dead season 6 left fans frustrated with a cliffhanger about who would be killed by the iconic villain. Season-ending cliffhangers like Jon Snow's death in Game of Thrones season 5 can lead to disappointment when resolved in the next season. Cliffhangers like Moriarty's return tease in Sherlock season 3 can permanently tarnish a show's legacy if not handled well.
Warning: Spoilers Ahead! Now, believe me when I say that I love a good TV show cliffhanger. When Joffrey ordered the execution of Ned Stark in Game of Thrones, I was utterly enthralled. The best part was that audiences would only have to wait a week to see the resolution of this cliffhanger. But then, I asked myself - what about those cliffhangers that take place at the end of a season? These, while certainly keeping me intrigued in the show, are no less infuriating when I look back upon them.

The Union falls short compared to other spy genre films, despite Mark Wahlberg and Halle Berry's excellent chemistry. The plot is preposterous, and the action lacks intensity, making the film feel mediocre. Despite a strong cast, the movie's simple story, underwhelming action, and lack of surprises disappoint.
Though typically a launchpad for action sequences and globe-trotting adventures, the spy genre can sometimes be used for comedic or even romantic stories. Some of the more notable examples include the Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz-led Knight and Day, Chris Pine, Tom Hardy and Reese Witherspoon's This Means War and Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's Mr. & Mrs. Smith. Unfortunately for The Union, it never quite reaches the same height as some of its genre counterparts, despite some stellar chemistry between its leads.

Review: Spy franchises work when the main characters are augmented like Jason Bourne or elite veterans like James Bond and Ethan Hunt. When starting a new franchise, it is tricky to balance it and make it believable that an average nobody can quickly become a hero. The Union represents Mark Wahlberg’s second attempt in three years to play a seemingly average guy who has hidden skills that make him a vital resource to save the world. In 2021’s Infinite,...

Exclusive: Jeff Daniels (A Man in Full), Jared Harris (Chernobyl) and J.K. Simmons (Being the Ricardos) have signed on to star in Reykjavik, a historical drama from Sk Global (Anyone But You) that chronicles one of the most significant diplomatic achievements of modern times: The Reykjavik Summit.
Reykjavik takes place at the most dangerous point of the Cold War, watching as political enemies Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev meet in Iceland over one long, tense weekend to decide if there will be peace or war in the world.
Daniels plays U.S. President Reagan, with Harris as Soviet leader Gorbachev, and Simmons as United States Secretary of State George Shultz.
Michael Russell Gunn will direct from his own script, in his feature debut, following his work with Sk Global as showrunner of its acclaimed limited series Thai Cave Rescue for Netflix. He also produces alongside John Logan Pierson. Production will commence on location in Reykjavik, Iceland in early October, with extensive filming at Höfði House, the actual site of the 1986 summit.
Sources tell Deadline that Gunn’s project is one that he’s spent years working on and researching. His work began when he drove out to Stanford to interview Secretary of State Shultz before his passing, receiving now-declassified transcripts from the summit. With Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the recent revelation that the U.S. will again deploy long-range missiles in Germany, the hope is to reflect on how we, as citizens and as nations, can come together to work past our differences, in pursuit of a better, safer world.
Daniels is coming off of A Man in Full, Netflix’s limited series from David E. Kelley, which adapts the 1998 novel from Tom Wolfe. Recently, he was also seen starring opposite Maura Tierney in the crime drama American Rust, which ran for two seasons.
Most recently boarding Kathryn Bigelow’s new film for Netflix, as we were first to report, Harris also stars in Apple TV+ and Skydance’s sci-fi series Foundation, based on the works of Isaac Asimov, which previewed its forthcoming third season at Comic-Con. Previously garnering Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for Chernobyl, he’s also recently wrapped on the indies Brave the Dark and Reawakening.
Following roles in films like National Champions and Being the Ricardos, Simmons’ upcoming slate includes the Clint Eastwood pic Juror #2, Jason Reitman’s Saturday Night, Amazon’s sequel to The Accountant and holiday event film Red One, and the addiction film The Prince written by David Mamet.
Prior to Thai Cave Rescue, Gunn wrote and produced for the critically acclaimed Showtime series Billions, as well as the political thriller Designated Survivor for ABC and Netflix, having begun his career on Aaron Sorkin’s The Newsroom. On the film side, he sold his script The Virginian about a young George Washington to Warner Bros, and is currently adapting a novel for Charlize Theron at Universal.
Indie studio Sk Global has produced and financed over 100 features, dating back to its origins as Sidney Kimmel Entertainment. Most recently, the company unveiled the acclaimed rom-com Anyone But You, a star-making project for Glen Powell, who led the cast opposite Sydney Sweeney. The Sony pic emerged as a sleeper hit upon its December 2023 release, proving that rom-coms can continue to work theatrically as it grossed over $220 million worldwide. Also recently unveiling the acclaimed limited series Thai Cave Rescue, as well as inspirational docs like Mountain Queen: The Summits of Lhakpa Sherpa, which just debuted on Netflix, the company is also responsible for such acclaimed titles as Crazy Rich Asians, Hell or High Water and The Place Beyond the Pines, among many others.
Daniels is repped by CAA, Martino Management, and Yorn, Levine, Barnes; Harris by CAA, Gateway Management, Independent Talent Group in the UK, and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern; Simmons by Gersh; and Gunn by WME and Artists First.
