Devil May Cry is pushing the streamer into a new genre, and that genre is nu metal.

The latest trailer for Netflix's Devil May Cry anime has Dante saying "I work better with music," before setting the trailer to one of the most iconic '00s metal songs. Papa Roach's "Last Resort" scores the demon-slaying trailer that highlights Devil May Cry's gorgeous-looking action. The anime is set to release on Netflix on April 3, 2026, and will run for 8 episodes in its first season.

The creator and star of Bad Sisters and Catastrophe — along with her production company, Merman — has signed a two-year, first-look deal with HBO. The first project under the deal is a comedy series that Horgan will write, executive produce and star in; HBO has given the untitled show a straight-to-series order.

CBS’ hit comedy Ghosts is finally introducing one of its most anticipated characters in season 4. First airing in 1999, Futurama has survived multiple cancelations and channel hops to become one of the most emotionally resonant comedies of the 21st century. The futuristic cartoon has proven over the years to be capable of balancing good humor with romantic, tragic, and philosophical reflections on life, love, and the universe. At its best, it's one of the most unique and engaging shows on TV. Unfortunately, the latest episodes couldn't quite match that pedigree.

Disenchantment season 5 includes hidden Easter eggs and references to itself, movies, and other shows in the Groening universe. The season makes a notable reference to a 29-year-old joke from The Simpsons, featuring a fictional animator named Hig Heisler. Connections between Disenchantment and Futurama are evident through the appearance of characters like Luci and Hypnotoad, as well as references to Luna Park and the cancelation of Futurama.

In 2023, the unthinkable happened: Futurama returned to television. Following its debut on Fox, first cancellation, re-runs on Adult Swim, revival in four four-episode-long films, multi-season revival on Comedy Central, and second cancellation in 2013, the series has now landed on Hulu.

Along for the ride since the beginning has been Claudia Katz, an Emmy Award-winning producer who has worked at the superlative film and television animation studio Rough Draft Studios since 1994. Katz has worked on series such as Netflix's Disenchantment, The Simpsons Movie, Looney Tunes theatrical shorts, Comedy Central's Drawn Together, and Genndy Tartakovsky's 2003 Star Wars: Clone Wars series.

Claudia Katz was kind enough to speak to Cbr about the Futurama's ups and downs, and what the future holds for the beloved series that just won't quit.

The It Crowd alumni Richard Aoyade and Matt Berry are reuniting for Dan Harmon's animated dysfunctional family sitcom, Krapopolis.

Per EW, the news of the casting decisions for Krapopolis indicate that Berry and Aoyade of The It Crowd will play two of the main characters. Krapopolis is produced by Fox Entertainment, under their Bento Box label. The animated sitcom revolves around a family of gods, monsters, and humans attempting to keep the peace between themselves as one of their own, Tyrannis, attempts to build and rule one of the first cities in the world. The show was created by Dan Harmon, who is best known for his show Community and as the co-creator of the animated TV series Rick and Morty.

A bevy of British actors will voice some of the main characters in Krapopolis, including the two It Crowd alumni.

Dan Harmon’s brand of comedy — sometimes puerile, sometimes erudite, usually with both sensibilities engaged in a graphic on-screen wrestling match — isn’t for everybody.

Even the shows of his that I love the most — Community and Rick and Morty and The Sarah Silverman Program, the usual stuff — lose me here and there.

One thing I’ve never accused a Dan Harmon show of being was bland.

Krapopolis, a long-gestating Fox animated comedy notable for off-screen trivia — it’s already been renewed through a third season, plus it has some connection I don’t understand to the blockchain — is bland. Through the three episodes sent to critics, it looks bland and the stories it’s telling are bland and, most oddly of all, the thematic underpinnings of the series are bland.

Krapopolis is never boring and I chuckled here and there. But I’m guessing most of my laughs came...

The Simpsons and Futurama crossover episode establishes that both series exist within the same universe. Disenchantment also linked Bean's world and the one depicted within Futurama because of Professor Farnsworth and his time machine. Nevertheless, fans have always viewed each sitcom as a standalone piece regardless of crossovers or Easter eggs, which shouldn't be the case. Freckles, the puppet character, may be secretly Yøg seeking revenge on King Zøg, hinted at by their similar appearance and shared voice actor. The show introduced intriguing plotlines surrounding Satan, including the debt Dagmar owes him and the mystery behind his changing appearance in mirrors, which will likely be explored in later seasons.

Matt Groening's Disenchantment season 4 recap ended with more questions than it did answers. There were several big subplots that got some form of resolution, answering some questions. However, the show's fifth season finale was consistent with its previous installments in the fact that it split up the main cast in various cliffhangers, and in the case of Queen Bean, literally tossed off of a cliff. The constant cancelations and resurrections of "Futurama" have taught its makers to be nimble. The initial run of "Futurama" lasted four seasons from March 1999 until August 2003. At the time, it seemed like that was the end of things, but it would prove to be a mere five-year hiatus. 

"Futurama" returned in 2008 in the form of four straight-to-dvd feature-length movies. The first one, "Bender's Big Score" was about a mysterious time-travel code tattooed on Fry's butt. The second, "The Beast with a Billion Backs," was about a lovelorn Lovecraftian space deity that romances everyone on Earth. "Bender's Game" saw the Planet Express crew transported into a Gygaxian fantasy universe (likely serving as the inspiration for Matt Groening's "Disenchantment"). "Into the Wild Green Yonder" concerns psychic waves pulsing through the universe, tinfoil hats, and a feminist uprising. The movies were eventually broadcast on TV, each one split up into four episodes.

The Simpsons season 35 trailer promises new adventures that will remind viewers of the show's glory days, but revisiting classic episodes can be risky. The upcoming episode flips a famous dynamic, with Lisa preparing to kill Sideshow Bob instead of the other way around, which may take place in a Halloween episode. While revisiting earlier episodes can be divisive, The Simpsons has successfully revived classic episodes in the past without ruining their predecessors, so there is a chance it will work for "Cape Feare".

While The Simpsons season 35 trailer implies the show will return to one classic episode, this approach has garnered mixed results in the past. Throughout the 1990s, the series produced some of the most critically acclaimed comedy writing in the medium of television. Crossover potential: Given the past crossovers and the shared universe, it's likely that Disenchantment characters could appear in The Simpsons or Futurama. Time-travel possibilities: With the magical orb and time-travel storylines in both shows, characters from Disenchantment and Futurama could easily meet by traveling through time. Unique storytelling opportunities: The Simpsons' "Treehouse of Horror" episodes and wraparound story devices provide opportunities for Disenchantment characters to appear, whether in a Halloween episode or as part of a bedtime story on The Simpsons.

In its first four days of availability, the live-action adaptation of the Japanese manga quickly sailed to the top of Netflix’s top 10 chart with 18.5 million total views. During the Aug. 28-Sept. 3 viewing window, the series reached the Top 10 in 93 countries, and debuted at No. 1 in 46 with 140.1 million hours viewed. While it’s not an exact comparison (Netflix only calculated viewing hours at the time), “Cowboy Bebop” — Netflix’s 2021 live-action adaptation based on the anime series of the same name, which was canceled after one season — opened at No. 9 on 15.26 million hours viewed in its first four days of availability.

“One Piece” has remained the most-watched Netflix series on the streamer in its second week since release, logging an additional 19.3 million views this week.

After debuting to the top of the streamer’s most-watched TV list last week with 18.5 million views, the live action adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s manga is now totaling 37.8 million views since its Aug. 31 premiere, according to Netflix.

Next up on the most-watched TV list was “Virgin River” Season 5, which debuted in the No. 2 spot on the list with 9 million views, while limited thriller series “Who Is Erin Carter?” came in third place with 7.1 million views. The third installment of U.K. comedy “Top Boy” took the No. 4 spot with 5.6 million views, while “Live to 100: Secrets of the Blue Zones” came in fifth with 3.1 million views.
