Fact-based drama set during the 1967 Detroit riots in which a group of rogue police officers respond to a complaint with retribution rather than justice on their minds.
This is the third collaboration between director Kathryn Bigelow and screenwriter Mark Boal. The first two were Zero Dark Thirty (2012) and The Hurt Locker (2008). Both Bigelow and Boal won Oscars for The Hurt Locker, including Best Picture.

The film was set in 1967. The Dramatics sing a line from 'What You See is What You Get' which didn't come out till 1971.
