| Interesting first episode
Before I get into my review, let me just say that since I was 4 years old (in my 20s now), I have been reading and collecting the digests. I have always loved reading them, with Jughead as my favourite character (and, lets face it, I totally had a crush on him growing up). As soon as I heard about this new series, I was not sure what to think. I've never really watched shows on the CW, as teen soaps are not really my thing, and I was apprehensive as to how Riverdale and its characters would be portrayed. So, it was really at the last minute that I decided to watch the first episode.

I was genuinely pleasantly surprised! Based on the first episode alone, I will continue to watch it. I may not end up liking the whole of the series, but time will tell with that.

First, the characters and their casting. I think, minus a few obvious changes (for example, a much younger Ms. Grundy kind of threw me for a loop), the casting was done pretty well! I really felt that Lili Reinhart WAS Betty, and don't even get me started on Jughead...Cole Sprouse is great so far, and although he has less screen time than the main trio in the pilot, I think he will easily be my favourite once again. More Jughead please!

Second, the plot. I really don't want to say too much other than the fact that, this being the biggest change from the digests that I know and love, time will tell if I can continue to enjoy it. It is darker, grittier, sexier than what I am used to about Riverdale, but so far it is keeping my interest. As I wrote before, the 'teen soap' aspect of many shows on the CW is really not my cup of tea, but this may well turn out to be the only show on the CW that I truly enjoy!

I recommend to give it a chance. I did and so far, I am far from disappointed.
