The description in my title is certainly more accurate than the actual title "22nd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards". Here we have a 2016 awards ceremony in which the actors honor their very best. Or so we thought. Because in the face of the oh so racist Oscars who refused to nominated any black actor that year, this awards ceremony just decided to go completely against that and basically give an award to every Black actor nominated. This also includes major surprises like Idris Elba's double win and I am writing this of a fan of Idris Elba. And then there were awards for Uzo Aduba, Queen Latifah, Viola Davis (very undeserving), the cast of Orange is the New Black yeah I think that's it. Tambor and Spacey were lucky that they had no Black actor nominated in their categories I guess. The only somewhat loss for Black America that night was Beasts of no Nation not taking home the Best Ensemble Prize. Or Straight Outta Compton, which would have been even worse looking at how bad a film the latter is. I mean diversity is a good thing, but I never hear Hispanics or Asian Americans complain that they are discriminated against. Anyway, I guess Will Smith and his wife must have been happy with the way this awards show turned out and Spike Lee, the show biz equivalent to Al Sharpton, couldn't ramble about boycotting either. Why is he even relevant still. He has not been nominated for a major awards in almost two decades. You know why. Because of rants like these and how well they go with his color. Okay anyway, completely aside from the whole ethnicity debate, it makes me sad to see some of the actually contested awards here go to garbage shows like Downton Abbey. And Carol Burnett also deserves way better than what she got from Tina Fey and especially Amy Poehler, even if she probably doesn't realize herself. Oh well, this can be a good thing too. All in all, this awards ceremony was a complete joke to be honest. Some solid winners in the male categories plus Brie Larsen, but all in all the negative clearly outweighs the positive and it is at least as racist if we give basically every awards to Black people (where Black people are nominated) as it is when we shut them out completely. And on a completely unrelated side-note, why is Demi Moore presenting the biggest award of the night? Many oddities here. Don't watch.
