Scott Rudin has publicly apologized for his “bone-headed” and “narcissistic” behavior as a producer, four years after being effectively canceled in 2021. Rudin, who has won an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and 18 Tony Awards, was accused by several former staffers in a June 2021 Hollywood Reporter piece of allegedly abusing them. Details included Rudin allegedly smashing a computer on an assistant’s hand and throwing objects at employees.
After the report, Rudin announced that he would be taking a step back from his projects, including his slated producing credits for five A24 films such as Joel Coen’s “The Tragedy of Macbeth,” The Daniels’ “Everywhere All at Once,” and Alex Garland’s “Men.” Rudin said in 2021 that he was going to “take the time to work on personal issues I should have long ago.”
Now, Rudin is returning to Broadway and “owning” his mistakes. “A lot of what was said was true.

Broadway and film producer Scott Rudin, whose aggressive and bullying behavior to some of his staff led to public condemnation and his withdrawal from producing four years ago, is making a comeback, which Rudin announces today in an interview with The New York Times.
In the article, Rudin says he has more than a dozen shows in development, including both musicals and plays. At least three of the latter, according to the Times, will star Laurie Metcalf and be directed by Joe Mantello. (Neither of them responded to Times’ requests for comment.)
This fall, he will produce Little Bear Ridge Road, a play by Samuel D. Hunter staged last year by Chicago’s Steppenwolf Theater Company. The New York production, like the one in Chicago, will star Metcalf and will be directed by Mantello. In the spring Rudin will produce Montauk, a new play by David Hare, also starring Metcalf and directed by Mantello.

Producer Scott Rudin, who stepped back from the film and theater industry in 2021 after workplace abuse allegations, is planning his Broadway return.
The New York Times reported Friday that Rudin is developing a handful of Broadway productions. They include “Little Bear Ridge Road,” a play by Samuel D. Hunter that will star Laurie Metcalf from director Joe Mantello, for this fall; “Montauk,” a new play by David Hare also with Metcalf and Mantello, for next spring; and a revival of “Death of a Salesman” with Nathan Lane, Metcalf and Mantello for the following season.
Rudin was shunned from the industry after THR reported that Rudin threw items at employees, including a stapler and baked potato, berated staffers and threatened them with career retribution if they left his employment, and smashed a computer monitor on the hand of an assistant, sending him to the emergency room. The allegations came after the...

Spoiler Alert: Spoilers for Severance through Season 2, Episode 4
Quick LinksWhat Is the Montauk Project in 'Severance'?What Does The Montauk Project Mean for 'Severance'?
Season 2 of Severance has already kicked into high gear. Even by the standards of the show’s stellar sophomore go-around, the newest installment, “Woe’s Hollow,” was something special. On top of raising even more mysteries about Lumon Industries’ history, the episode answered questions we didn’t even know we had and gave a stellar acting showcase for Britt Lower and especially John Turturro (we certainly hope this isn’t the last we see of Irving). While Lumon’s ultimate endgame is still shrouded in mystery, it thankfully never feels like the show has been deliberately withholding answers or spinning its wheels.
Yet this week might’ve already given us a vague hint about where things could go, and most viewers probably didn’t even notice.

This article contains spoilers for "Severance" season 2 episode 4, "Woe's Hollow."
Lumon Industries is up to no good, right? "Severance" loves playing the corporation's mysteries close to the chest, only revealing the very tip of the horrific iceberg when it absolutely must. However, what the Apple TV+ mystery show has revealed of the company's true purpose so far is nothing short of chilling, and "Woe's Hollow" doesn't exactly ease the viewer's spirit.
The episode expands the show's mythology in a number of creepy and characteristically veiled ways, some of which are seen through the eyes of an increasingly unbalanced Irving (John Turturro). After effectively severing ties with the rest of the Macrodata Refinement team during their outdoors team-building retreat, the formerly reliable office drone wanders into the woods to give Mr. Milchick (Tramell Tillman) a piece of his mind. Unfortunately, Irving loses his way and is forced to sleep rough in the dark forest.

Science fiction movies are in a strange place right now, and Stranger Things is a part of the reason why. The show exists in a bubble of its own. When a new season releases, it becomes the most talked about thing of the moment, but its cultural staying power has always fallen short after it has been and gone. Stranger Things is rarely discussed online when a new season isn't here, and that's interesting. The Original Title for Stranger Things That Was Almost Chosen—How It Could Have Changed Everything! (Photo Credit – Netflix)
Stranger Things as we know it? Almost didn’t exist. In the show’s earliest days, the Duffer Brothers pitched it as Montauk, set in a gritty New York coastal town. And instead of Hawkins, Indiana, the supernatural epic was nearly built around the mysterious, conspiracy-laden “Montauk Project.” The premise? A covert government experiment in mind control, time travel, and bizarre tests served as a spine-tingling inspiration for the show. But when Netflix came on board, the Duffers shifted gears, and “Montauk” morphed into a tale of bikes, brave kids, and one terrifying Demogorgon.
Released in 2016, Stranger Things snuck up on summer audiences and quickly became an overnight sensation. Part mystery, part horror, and 100% nostalgia, the show took off with its ensemble cast of curious kids, led by Eleven, a girl with telekinetic powers.

“Looks like downhill from here,” Mia Berrin quips at the top of Pom Pom Squad’s second album, Mirror Starts Moving Without Me. It’s an apt opening for a project steeped in hellish Alice in Wonderland imagery and named after the uncanny horror movie trope where a character’s reflection moves out of synch. On Mirror, Berrin, the band’s lead singer and songwriter, leans into this darker tone of the Lewis Carroll classic as she illustrates an identity crisis in overdrive.

Stranger Things is greatly tied to the pop culture of the '70s and '80s, especially horror and sci-fi works of the time. The one icon from these decades that Netflix's hit series is indebted the most to is none other than the King of Horror himself, Stephen King. It's no secret that Matt and Ross Duffer (aka The Duffer Brothers) were greatly influenced by the literary titan. Noteworthy King works include Carrie, It, The Mist, and Stand by Me. That being said, the one King story that Stranger Things arguably owes everything to is Firestarter.
It could even be said that without this novel, the series wouldn't even exist, or it would be very different. This may come as a shock, not just because Firestarter is one of King's most overlooked books, but because its movie adaptations aren't exactly well-regarded. As of this writing, the 1984 Firestarter only...

New York indie rock outfit Pom Pom Squad have announced Mirror Starts Moving Without Me, their sophomore album, out everywhere on October 25th via City Slang. They’ve also shared “Spinning,” the second single from the album.
Pom Pom Squad is led by Brooklyn musician Mia Berrin, who performs alongside guitarist Alex Mercuri and drummer Shelby Keller. The group previously shared the grunge-tinged “Downhill,” which was Pom Pom Squad’s first bit of new music since 2021. Now, the former CoSign is back with 11 new tracks that take inspiration from childhood, mental health, and identity.
“I took a lot of inspiration from my younger self on this album,” Berrin said in a press release. “I wanted to get back in touch with my creative roots. After hitting a particularly rough bout of writer’s block, I challenged myself to make a playlist of my all-time favorite songs from childhood to adulthood.

It’s been one month since Pom Pom Squad’s stellar comeback “Downhill,” and now the Brooklyn band has returned with another gem — and the announcement of a new album.
“Spinning” radiates with chic no-fucks-given energy and sizzling guitar, as Mia Berrin does some serious self-reflection: “Crying for the girl I could’ve been/She haunts me like a melody.”
The lines come to life in the video above, where Berrin appears in a pantsuit (once again, we might describe this as chic) inside a surveillance room, observing herself as...

Netflix faces yet another copyright infringement lawsuit, this time over the film "Don't Look Up" and its alleged similarities to author William Collier's self-published novel "Stanley's Comet." This is not the first time Netflix has been accused of plagiarism, with previous lawsuits targeting shows like "Stranger Things" and "Outer Banks." Netflix has yet to respond to allegations in the lawsuit.
Netflix’s divisive political satire Don’t Look Up has found itself the subject of a copyright infringement lawsuit lodged against the streaming giant and director Adam McKay. Telling the story of two astronomers who attempt to warn society about an approaching comet set on a collision course with Earth, the black comedy uses the premise to poke fun at political and media indifference to warnings of climate change. Featuring an all-star cast led by Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence, the movie received a limited theatrical release before moving on...

Rufus Wainwright won’t hit age 50 until July 22, technically, but he started the festivities a few days early with “Fifty Isn’t the End,” a three-hour show at Long Island’s East End that was a tribute to Wainwright’s career, his family lineage and, inadvertently, some of the other children of famous musicians who happen to be among his pals.

Warning! Spoilers about Outlander season 7, episode 1 and the Outlander books ahead.
The return of one time traveler in Starz’s Outlander season 7, episode 1, simultaneously brought back up one of Claire’s worst moments and introduced a considerable variation from the books. While the Frasers and the Mackenzies seemed the only experienced time travelers for a while in Outlander, the fantasy romance series introduced straight from season 1 the notion that other time travelers existed with Geillis Duncan, with whom Claire was accused of witchcraft. Unlike Claire, who didn’t mean to travel through the stones, Geillis not only meant to but went back in time to help the Jacobite cause as she wanted to change how history played out.
Later seasons of Outlander introduced even more time travelers that weren’t related to the Frasers, whose research and commitment to the period they traveled back to hinted at stories more similar to Geillis’ than Claire’s.

Joel and Clementine's romance in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is full of ups and downs like every real relationship, but their timeline plays out of order in the movie. It's a story of breakup and love reborn, set in a world where people can undergo a procedure to erase the memories of past relationships. After learning his ex-girlfriend Clementine erased him, Joel decides to do the same. As he watches their memory together dissipate, Joel engages in an exhaustive fight against his own mind when he realizes he still loves Clementine.
The narrative unravels in non-chronological order, and the audience can only tell what's present and what's past by the color of Clementine's hair. Other parallel stories add up to the main storyline by showing the universality of love, with each different person falling victim to the same mistakes. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is considered Charlie Kaufman's best movie,...
