In 2021, The Coalition seemingly parted ways from Gears 5 for an unrevealed project on Unreal Engine 5. The project might be a savior for Xbox, since there are rumors about a new console. This project appears to be the next Gears of War game, as some Xbox job listings by Microsoft suggest. The speculations arise from the latest conversation with insider Jeff Grubb on Kinda Funny Xcast.
The first three games in the series revolve around the protagonist, Marcus Fenix, while the next main title follows the story of his son, James Dominic Fenix, and then his friend, Kait Diaz. Cliff Bleszinski, who designed the first three installments, drew inspiration from games like Resident Evil 4, Kill Switch, and Bionic Commando.

You’ll remember during the pandemic, Steven Soderbergh revealed he wrote three scripts in a three-month blaze at the beginning of lockdown. One of them was a sequel to “Sex, Lies, and Videotape.”

The third-person shooter genre is an odd part of gaming history. It’s much younger than you think, it’s dipped in and out of popularity over the years, and, culturally, it doesn’t necessarily enjoy the same mainstream renown that Fps games are typically afforded. There are times when you have to stop and really consider the third-person shooter to be its own genre.
Yet, the third-person shooter’s influence can be felt in so many aspects of the modern gaming industry. An important part of the evolution of true 3D gaming, third-person shooters quickly became a vehicle that allowed developers to experiment with how players were going to move through, interact with, and, yes, fight in increasingly complex 3D environments. Their cinematic style and chaotic action helped them stand out early on, and they eventually laid the foundation for the combat that so many modern titles rely on to some degree.

As filmmakers are forced to adapt to these crazy times perhaps no director is more equipped to shift gears in a crisis than Steven Soderbergh. The Oscar-winning director’s career has found him careening from glue-and-tape indies to big-budget studio fare, digital video, streaming television, and experimental formats and release strategies with ease.
In a recent interview in The New York Times alongside filmmaker Amy Seimetz, who stars in his next film “Kill Switch” and just opened her own directorial effort “She Dies Tomorrow,” Soderbergh spoke about how necessary safety protocols on film sets amid Covid will dictate how Hollywood moves forward, especially in the budget department.
“We have an ability on a project to control how we move, where we move, how many people come with us — it’s something that can be manipulated to keep people safe,” Soderbergh said. “I think if we can withstand the economic surcharge...

What would you do if you knew deep down in your bones that tomorrow you were going to die? Would you sit back and let it happen? Perhaps you’d enjoy your final hours and do what you’ve always wanted? Or maybe you’ll convince your friends that you’re really going to die tomorrow and thus, convince them that maybe they’re going to die as well? It’s that latter situation that exists in the new feature, “She Dies Tomorrow.”

While Steven Soderbergh finds himself in the awards season conversation this year thanks to his star-studded money laundering satire “The Laundromat” and sports drama “High Flying Bird,” the filmmaker isn’t going to take a breather anytime soon to bask in that glory. "The machines are hunting everyone down. Machines programmed to kill." Vertical Entertainment has unveiled a new official Us trailer for the sci-fi indie film titled Revolt, from director Joe Miale making his feature debut. The film stars Lee Pace as a Us soldier in Africa attempting to fight back against a brutal alien invasion. This kind of seems a bit like a mash-up between District 9 and Transformers, with robot-like alien creatures taking over. Also starring Bérénice Marlohe (who was also in the sci-fi Kill Switch, as well as Skyfall and Song to Song), plus Jason Flemyng, Alan Santini, and Tom Fairfoot. I'm actually very curious about this, might be pretty cool. I dig the machines' designs, different than most other alien designs. Kill Switch is a notable piece of filmmaking in more ways than one.
The movie's inventive conceit sees it told largely from a first-person perspective, much like a video game. Here's the gist: Will Porter (Dan Stevens), a highly paid employee for a mysterious corporation, seeks to save the world (and his family) after an experiment for unlimited energy goes terribly wrong and he winds up in a parallel world with a "Kill Switch," an item that just might save everyone.
Stevens, who played the Beast in the $1.2 billion-grosser Beauty and the Beast, has a busy schedule and a...

When, oh when, will filmmakers learn that it’s more fun to play a video game than watch a movie designed to resemble one? Following on the heels of last year’s resounding flop Hardcore Henry is Tim Smit’s feature Kill Switch, based on his 2009 short film that went viral. Starring Dan Stevens — who, judging by this and his FX series Legion, has clearly developed a taste for science fiction — Kill Switch is a visually imaginative but narratively incoherent exercise that provides viewers the unwelcome opportunity to feel what it’s like to watch a video game being played by someone...

Dan Stevens has a lot to be grateful for.
Previously best known for playing Matthew Crawley on Downton Abbey, the culmination of his work in the five years since leaving the Masterpiece series has come to fruition as the actor leads back-to-back high-profile projects, most notably Disney’s live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast and the FX X-men series Legion. The former dominated the box office, taking in $1.2 billion worldwide, while the latter debuted to critical acclaim and has since earned considerable Emmy buzz. The success of those two projects, coupled with the releases of Colossal with Anne Hathaway, Kill Switch, The Ticket and the Tribeca Film Festival debut of Permission, not only makes Stevens feel like the man of the hour, but also makes Crawley seem like a distant memory.

Unlimited energy would be an unbelievable discovery, and in Tim Smit‘s “Kill Switch,” the miraculous breakthrough is made. However, there are dire consequences for the man who unleashes this scientific phenomenon on the world.
Starring Dan Stevens, Bérénice Marlohe, Tygo Gernandt, and Charity Wakefield, “Kill Switch” is set in a future version of the world, where an experiment for unlimited energy, harnessing parallel universes, goes wrong.

"Must have some weakness, something we can use against them." A full-length trailer has been unveiled for an indie sci-fi project titled Revolt, from director Joe Miale making his feature debut. The film stars Lee Pace as a Us soldier in Africa attempting to fight back against a brutal alien invasion. This kind of seems a bit like a mash-up between District 9 and Transformers, with robot-like alien creatures taking over. Also with Bérénice Marlohe (who was also in the sci-fi Kill Switch, as well as Skyfall and Song to Song), plus Amy Louise Wilson, Alan Santini, and Tom Fairfoot. This has some solid VFX work and it seems like it could be a fun under-the-radar sci-fi film, I just hope it's better than it looks. This trailer is worth a watch. A couple of weeks ago we had our first glimpse at Dan Stevens saving the world in the sci-fi action thriller Kill Switch.
That first trailer was short and sweet and focused mostly on the visual effects which did look fairly impressive and though this trailer uses much of the safe footage, it is interspersed with a little more on plot - but we mean only a little more.
The story focuses on an energy creating plan which goes severely wrong. Stevens stars as a pilot who is forcibly recruited by the government for an operation which includes him jumping in time (or maybe to a parallel world - hard to tell) to plug in a box, the kill switch, which will save his world.

Today we published the 100 Best Sci-Fi Films Of All Time, with each selection pushing the boundaries or offering something inventive in the overstuffed genre. Marking the opposite end of the spectrum is “Kill Switch,” which looks fairly disposable despite a pretty decent cast.
Dan Stevens, “Skyfall” Bond girl Bérénice Marlohe and Charity Wakefield star in this film from Dutch director Tim Smit, which tells the (cautionary?) tale about a hunt for unlimited energy that goes dangerously awry.

Dan Stevens is trying to save his family in this first trailer for Kill Switch, but is he the enemy? To be honest I have no idea as this trailer shows us so many things with no real context whatsoever and the film description (via Slashfilm) isn't much help:

A brand new trailer for sci-fi action movie Kill Switch, starring Dan Stevens, has landed...
Update: A second trailer has now landed for this one. Which looks like this...
Here's our story on the original trailer from the start of the month...
Dan Stevens has been a busy man these past few years, evidenced by the debut trailer for one of the many projects on his docket: sci-fi action film Kill Switch. However, the trailer showcases a rather unconventional effort with cinematography so reminiscent of a first-person-shooter video game, you’d think that this was a trailer for a movie adaptation of Half-Life. For the record, it’s not.

“This is the opportunity to explore impossible frontiers.” Clearly, the opening line of the teaser trailer for new indie sci-fi actioner Kill Switch doesn’t understand that if you can explore a frontier, then it’s probably possible. Nonetheless, after 20 seconds spent staring at a black cube with a glowing red circle inscribed on it (which should really just read “not the Tesseract” in big letters), we get some images that hint at the film to come, but not much in the way of story. “A pilot battles to save his family and the planet after an experiment for unlimited energy goes wrong,” is the log line, but none of that is conveyed by the montage above. Mostly, it looks like terrible things are happening to a city in the near future, and Dan Stevens is struggling against the course of events.

Visual FX supervisor Tim Smit makes his directorial debut with the high concept, futuristic thriller Kill Switch starring Dan Stevens (The Guest). The film is based on Smit's own short film, What's in the Box. Set in the future, the video game style plot follows an experiment for unlimited energy, harnessing parallel universes, which goes wrong. Chased by drones and soldiers, Stevens and a physicist must race through an imploding world to get the Redivider box to a tower, which will save humanity, including his family, in the real world. I have to admit I like the idea of an imploding reality as a mechanism for both a race-against-time element as well as an opportunity for interesting visual effects. I can't help but get a...
