Stake Holders: An Appreciation of Jess Franco's 'Count Dracula' (2015)

*** (out of 4)

French director Christophe Gans gets seven minutes to discuss Jess Franco's COUNT Dracula and it doesn't let a single second go to waste. The director talks extremely fast as he jumps from one subject to the next as he gives a rather interesting take on the film, which fans have debated on its merits since it was released. Gans most interesting thoughts come to Klaus Kinski and how Franco claimed that the two of them got along very well. His thoughts as to why the two got along are quite interesting as are his opinions on why it would have been better to have Kinski play Dracula in the film. If you're a fan of the Franco film then you'll enjoy this featurette that has a lot of interesting theories being thrown around including how this was meant to be a faithful Dracula film but to see Franco's real tale on vampires you'd need to check out VAMPYROS LESBOS.
