    Source of this story.

    This story is similar to an actual 2013 case when a woman needed heart surgery. She had Lutheran b negative that is only seen in 0.2% of the white population and O negative blood seen in 5% of people making it extremely rare. There was a Science magazine article as well as numerous news articles about the case because of the lengths needed to go through to get the blood needed so she could undergo the surgery which she did successfully. It seems likely this story was inspired by this story.

    One Asinine Comment

    It's amazing how one line can make an otherwise good episode leave a bad taste in your mouth.

    Equating capitalism with terrorism and confusing greed with capitalism is asinine.

    Money is not the root of all evil, love of money is and that's an important distinction. There's nothing wrong with capitalism, it's greed that corrupts any system or ideal, whether greed for money or power.

    A Major Tear Jerker

    This show is a lot like canned cheese; you know it isn't real, but it is great comfort food.

    This episode starts out innocent enough, and then in typical fashion it get bad really quick.

    In short, a young girl who is in need of a heart transplant, got called to hospital, as a donor heart was available. Unfortunately all blood in the area has been compromised, do to sabotage of the bar code system.

    Of course Scorpion comes to the rescue, but it is a nail biter to be sure. Anytime the main character is a child, you know you are going to get teary eyed.

      Lutheran AB negative blood was first identified in 1945 and describes another type of blood antigen than what everyone is familiar with which is their ABO and Rh blood types. Even if the ABO and Rh types were compatible, if the Lutheran AB type did not match correctly the transfusion could be fatal. It is seen in approximately 1 in 3000 people making it very rare albeit not the rarest.

      The doctor says a donor heart is viable for 24 hours, but a heart is only viable for about 6 hours.
