  • In America we think of Dear Abby, advice columnist to the lovelorn. JoyBear Pictures enlightened me to the British-ism: lovely Victoria Summers stars as Delilah, an "agony aunt".

I was glad to see a new release from JoyBear, which only releases one or two films a year. This one is so much like its predecessors it is kind of reassuring -nothing changes at this most minor of institutions.

The format is overly familiar, resembling nothing more than one of a hundred Penthouse Letters video releases. We see enacted on-screen, as pantomimes without dialogue, four vignettes illustrating letters Delilah has received. The fifth vignette is of course reserved for Delilah herself to enact XXX style -thank goodness, because Penthouse often used bait & switch with the lead actress never doing more than host the show.

To call this mild entertainment would be kind, as especially in a porn context it is weak beer. I sincerely admire the JoyBear team's stick-to-itiveness, ignoring the whims and trends of audience preferences and delivering a quality product on their own terms. Only question that arose was (with apologies to Ayn Rand): Who is Justine Mii? The writer-director is listed as Justin Mii, a sex change, on all the clapper boards visible during the Behind the Scenes short subject, so who is this trans-female? Clapper boards also reveal the project's obvious shooting title: "Dear Delilah", probably rejected ultimately since it sounds like some old Tom Jones song.

I dig Summers, and she acquits herself well, humped by Ryan Ryder. They even get to speak briefly, departing from the pantomime approach while not disrupting the overall dumb-show effect.

New talent thrown up against the wall impresses, but only time well tell if they stick in this competitive Adult world. I especially liked Lynna Nilsson's alluring nipples, and Sicilia is another find. A personal favorite Emma Leigh appears in a countryside vignette for some athletic outdoor sex plus a riding crop thrown in.

Whither JoyBear in future? Plodding along as usual I suspect, a last redoubt in a porn world hell bent in its rush to the bottom of the barrel.
