They're finished, put a fork in 'em
Perhaps just for the challenge, I got tired of seeing the thousands and thousands of colorfully titled bondage/fetish videos listed in IMDb, none of which bore a comment or review. These mysterious beasties represent the unholy tip of some iceberg, so recently I have been watching a relatively random set of them, concentrating on '90s or early 21st Century titles, to report on the secret contents, and have been surprised at how empty of content they are. Another surprise is that even though IMDb lists over 800 Harmony Concepts titles and over 1400 FM Concepts videos, many of my random DVD purchases are unlisted altogether.
Such is the case of this forgotten short, packaged together with a 2-part Darla Crane vehicle "Office Politics" to fill out a full 90-minute program. (I added them to IMDb after viewing.) Both are directed (and feature as dominating figure) by Chelsea Pfeiffer. Her lack of imagination is perhaps Chelsea's strong suit in this specialized field, as aficionados of this wimpy form of entertainment are evidently highly particular in their needs and, yes, fetishes.
So we have Alison Brach (far better in her series of cosplay videos as super- heroine) and Betsy Demont/Dumont as two overage students whose mild hijinks (drinking alcohol, staying up late) earn the wrath of headmistress Chelsea.
Spanking them over and over again is tiresome in the extreme, but that's all you get folks in this loser. The boring and repetitive nature of this particular art form is thankfully reflected in the shortness of the videos - they hardly ever approach feature length. The one redeeming feature (pardon my inversion but if you watch as much crap as I have both on my own dime and previously as a professional film critic some of it is bound to rub off on you) here are a few brief but delightful rear shots of Brach's split-beaver. As Chelsea remarks (she is the director after all), Brach doesn't wear any panties.
I mention the split-beaver shot, so popular in loops and then feature films circa 1968-1970, because in the modern world of fetish video it is something of a rarity. These adventures in latex, hog-tying, ball-gagging, chloroforming, etc. are in fact surprisingly squeaky-clean. Hardcore BDSM meets LGBT exercises are lumped in with the rest of porn -see the stylish work of British pornographers Tanya Hyde or Kendo if that's your fancy. No, Harmony and latterly FM make their bread by offering attractive and quite often buxom models the chance to shoot footage without any sort of penetration. It's a bit analogous to Penthouse (with its switch to XXX content) Magazine vs. the old Playboy. The later analogy of "no nudes" Maxim vs. traditional nudie men's magazines no longer applies now that Playboy has reluctantly aped the Maxim business model.
