When Rockstar Games launched the first trailer for GTA 6 last year, people were blown away. The game looked unlike anything they had expected it to look like. It looked too good for its own good; maybe that’s why the developer decided not to announce a release date alongside it. Months after its first reveal, this game still does not have a release window—just a year, 2025.
But fans of the GTA franchise and Rockstar Games are pretty excited. They keep waiting for an announcement or a new trailer for this game to drop at any moment. But to pass the time, they also indulge in some interesting antiques. The best example of this surfaced recently when some people decided to recreate the GTA 6 announcement trailer scene by scene in real life!

Take-Two Interactive might be gearing up to announce the next mainline entry in the Mafia franchise, according to popular leaker Kurakasis.
Previously known for unearthing official names for titles like Marvel’s 1943: Rise of Hydra, Metro Awakening, and Indiana Jones, Kurakasis is known for discovering such information through trademark filings. At the end of their latest X post, the leaker mentioned “Tm”, hinting towards acquiring the latest Mafia 4 intel via the same method.
Kurakasis wrote in the post,

GTA 6 will be one of the greatest games of the current generation. Take-Two Interactive, the company that owns Rockstar, counts Grand Theft Auto as one of its key businesses. This giant of the industry made a deal with Embracer Group and just acquired Gearbox Entertainment, the creators of Borderlands, for almost 500 million dollars.
Gearbox confirmed this today through a social media post, expressing their joy at joining the 2K team. Embracer Group also sold more IPs, beginning a plan for restructuring the company.

Embracer has acquired a ton of studios and companies and has been successful in managing almost all of them. Numerous of these studios were permanently closed for bad sales, and others are just being re-sold again because this investor group doesn’t know what to do.

Jungkook of the super popular K-pop group BTS released his debut solo single “Seven” at midnight on Friday, July 14, 2023, and it’s already breaking records. The highly anticipated single was announced just a few weeks ago, and BTS fans – known as Army – shared their excitement all over social media.
The big surprise came when a teaser for the music video was released on July 12th. During the teaser, it was revealed that Grammy-nominated rapper Latto would be featured on the song. Latto had huge commercial success with her 2022 hit “Big Energy.”
“Seven” is described by Big Hit Music as “a fun summer song that puts its spin on the UK garage genre. The genre’s unique rhythm and texture meet with the catchy acoustic guitar sound, highlighting the light-hearted melody perfect for the summer. Jungkook’s unique timbre and playful energy complete the song.”

Sundance Institute has laid off nearly a dozen staffers across its departments, representing about 6% of its 180-strong workforce, Deadline has confirmed. The cuts are part of a three- to five-year strategic plan to strengthen the organization amid a challenging economic landscape.
Founded by Robert Redford in 1981, the nonprofit institute runs the annual Sundance Film Festival in Park City — which will run January 19-28 next year — along with labs, fellowships and mentorships that support more than 1,000 artists each year. It also hosts many public programs in the U.S. and around the world.

It's that time of year again for the BTS Army: Festa time! Every year, the two weeks leading up to June 13 (the anniversary of BTS's debut) are sacred to BTS's fandom, as the group releases content almost every day up until the big anniversary. On May 30, Big Hit released the schedule for 2023 Festa, teasing what's to come from BTS's momentous 10th anniversary.
Things are a bit different this year in more ways than one. First, 2023 Festa marks the first year not all members may participate in the Festa content. Currently, BTS is on a temporary hiatus as a group so that members can pursue solo activities and serve their mandatory service in the Korean military. So far, Jin and J-Hope have enlisted, with the rest of the group to follow in turn. (J-Hope and Jin will still be represented in Festa content in some capacity through pre-filmed footage.)

After spending years topping the charts, BTS are getting ready to take over bestseller lists, too. In conjunction with their annual Festa Celebration — this year marking their tenth anniversary as a group — the international pop stars have revealed details around an upcoming book, titled Beyond The Story: 10-Year Record of BTS.
With a publish date of July 9th, the book is promised to be a deep dive into the band’s history, along with hopeful looks towards the future for Rm, Jin, Suga, j-hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook.
According to a statement from Bighit Music, over the course of seven chapters, Beyond The Story “demonstrates their effort, hardship, and growth” from their “first gathering to becoming the 21st century pop icons.” The chapters are titled: “Seoul,” “Why We Exist,” “Love, Hate, Army,” “Inside Out,” “A Flight That Never Lands,” “The World Of BTS,” and “We Are.” Personal insights from the...

In early May, two of the world's biggest fandoms - the BTS Army and Taylor Swift's Swifties - were debating whether or not their fave was the subject of a highly anticipated celebrity memoir with an initial print run of one million copies that was shrouded in mystery by its US publisher, Flatiron Books. The buzz around the book, which appeared on Macmillan's website with the title "4C Untitled Flatiron Nonfiction Summer 2023," was so intense that it hit the Top 10 on the Amazon bestsellers list without having even officially been announced.
The mystery surrounding the subject of the book ended on May 11, with the New York Times announcing it is a BTS book. The memoir, titled "Beyond the Story: 10-Year Record of BTS," is being released to celebrate BTS's 10th anniversary as a group. This time last year, South Korean superstars BTS shocked the music world with the announcement that they’d be embracing more solo endeavors than ever before and taking the chance to spread their wings a bit individually. Since then, BTS’s “second chapter” has yielded some truly exciting work — solo albums from j-hope, Rm, Jimin, and Suga, collaborations from Jungkook and Jin, and a TV project for V have kept the BTS Army busy in the year since that initial announcement.
While there have certainly been enough activities for it to not feel like a BTS team hiatus at all, nothing compares to seeing BTS together as a group. To mark their 10th anniversary since debuting officially on June 13th, 2013, the band have revealed “Take Two,” a new digital single that does feature all seven members.

Relativity (1966)My long-awaited first visit to the International Film Festival Oberhausen was canceled last year, due to the pandemic, so I was thrilled to finally experience the festival this year, albeit via streaming. The 67th edition took place in a dual format, online and with somewhat expanded in-person screenings in Oberhausen (though the online offerings themselves were ample). Founded in 1954, Oberhausen played a decisive role in fostering avant-garde and experimental filmmaking during the Cold War, when much of Eastern Europe suffered the brunt of censorship. It wasn’t uncommon for films that remained unscreened or were banned in their native countries to premiere and win prizes at Oberhausen, and so be saved from critical and public oblivion. Given its longstanding legacy, it was invigorating to see Oberhausen bring a wide-ranging historical perspective to its online platform. Such emphasis helped avoid a common pitfall at other, more industry-driven festivals, whose online...

Don Farmer, a TV news veteran who was one of CNN’s original anchors, died Wednesday in Naples, Fla., after battling a rare neurological disease known as PSP.
Farmer and his wife, fellow broadcast journalist Chris Curle, were among the first anchors hired in 1980 when Ted Turner launched CNN. Among Farmer’s early assignments was a week of live coverage from Cuba that included an interview with then leader Fidel Castro.
Farmer got his start in TV at NBC News and moved to ABC News in 1965. He covered the Civil Rights movement and the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr., and logged an interview with all four Beatles at the height of Beatlemania.
Farmer grew up in the St. Louis area and earned a journalism degree from the University of Missouri at Columbia. He was working on a master’s degree when he was offered a job in NBC News’ election unit.

Castle was a huge fan favorite, but by the time the show reached season 8, it seemed no one was happy.
There were rumors of infighting behind the scenes, which led to fewer and fewer scenes filmed between the two leads.
Then Castle’s lead and supporting actresses (Stana Katic and Tamala Jones) were shockingly fired weeks before Castle Season 8 ended!
Fans were outraged, so much so that they began sending coffee sleeves to ABC with messages such as #SaveCaskett and #CancelCastle. Coffee was a symbol of love and affection between the two characters throughout the series.
The show’s fans wanted the series canceled rather than have it go on without their favorite couple.
What other show has had its diehard shippers root for its demise rather than see the series-long love story end and its main couple left to bleed out on the floor?
The fans got their wish.

Veteran Studiocanal TV executive Rola Bauer is to join MGM as president of international television productions.
Bauer will oversee development, production and co-productions for MGM’s International Television division, reporting in to MGM Television Group chairman Mark Burnett.
Based in Munich, she will split her time between MGM’s European and Us offices.
Bauer announced she was departing earlier this month after Studiocanal acquired a 100% stake in its German subsidiary Tandem Productions. Bauer, a founding partner of Tandem and managing director of Studiocanal, said she was stepping down from both of her roles.
Bauer oversaw premium scripted content for Studiocanal including the series “Years and Years,” and “War of the Worlds,” while also spearheading acquisitions for “Midnight Sun,” “The Last Panthers,” and “Below the Surface.” On the international coproduction and distribution front, she handled the upcoming “ZeroZeroZero,” as well as Harlan Coben’s “Safe,” her third Coben series, for Netflix and Canal+ Group.

CBS has given a pilot green light to The Equalizer, a reimagining of the classic series with Queen Latifah starring and executive producing. The project, which had a big pilot production commitment and had been considered a shoo-in for a pickup, hails from Take Two creators Andrew Marlowe & Terri Miller, Davis Entertainment, Flavor Unit, Martin Chase Productions, Universal Television and CBS TV Studios.
This mark the third drama pilot order for Davis Entertainment this pilot season at three different networks — Echo at NBC; Rebel, starring Katey Sagal, at ABC, and The Equalizer, toplined by Queen Latifah, at CBS.
Written by Marlowe and Miller, who will serve as showrunners, The Equalizer stars Queen Latifah as an enigmatic figure who uses her extensive skills to help those with nowhere else to turn. This is a new take on the character played by Edward Woodward on the original series and by Denzel Washington in the movie franchise.

The Grim Reaper thinned the #PeakTV herd this year in triple-digit fashion.
Between network, cable and streaming, more than a hundred shows aired their final episode in 2019, either due to cancellation or a predetermined “final season.” (By comparison, 2018 death toll was 102.) The small-screen casualties ranged from long-running hits (Game of Thrones, Elementary) to critically adored gems (Fleabag, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend) to… shows we barely knew existed, frankly (what’s Wayne again?).

In 2008, when Tandem’s Rola Bauer and Tim Halkin began financing “The Pillars of the Earth,” allying with Ridley Scott’s Scott Free, they stood nearly alone in Europe in making grand-scale English-language limited series.
Now Bauer and Halkin are in the vanguard of a global TV revolution at the Munich-based company.
The Canadian Bauer and U.S.-born Halkin met when he reported to her at ProSieben in Germany. In 1999, the pair founded Tandem. Bauer wanted to pursue her interest in creating content while Halkin is a marketing whiz. Having him as a business partner allowed her to raise her two children while still working, she has said.
In early 2012, Studiocanal, owned by Vivendi’s Canal Plus Group, bought a 51% share in Tandem. That deal helped the boutique company, which makes international programming usually with U.S. partners, move ahead.

Directing any film or television show is a challenging feat, but there are extra complications for those who step in for an episode or two of a longer-running series: They have to lead a group of people who know the ins and outs of the storytelling, and the set itself, better than they do. The skills they need extend beyond leadership and emotional intelligence to the ability to be a utility player.
Veteran director Guy Norman Bee, who got his start on such shows as “ER” and “Third Watch,” and recently helmed episodes of “Take Two” and “Blood & Treasure,” compares the task of traveling from show to show to being a session musician.
“You show up and plug in and ‘Ok, let’s go,’ ” he says. “Your ability to shift gears and jump on a moving train, and then jump off elegantly after, is what keeps you surviving — because your reputation gets around.

His quest for freedom is driven by his desperate desire to get back to the family he loves and reclaim the life that was stolen from him. The show will also, through the window of his ferocious struggle and his complicated relationship with a progressive female prison warden, examine the flaws and challenges in our penal and legal systems.

Their fates come down to lots of hard-to-quantify factors: momentum, reviews, how much they cost to make, how much money the people who watch them make, syndication situations, diversity, and what networks have to replace them. And then there are executives’ personal tastes. It’s part science,...
