Nine of the ten stories adapted for season 1 were written by Philip K. Dick in a 14-month period from November of 1952 to the end of 1953. (The exception, "Autofac," is from October 1954.) Among the other 30 stories written and published by Dick in these 14 months are the sources for the films The Adjustment Bureau (2011), Impostor (2001), and Next (2007), and short versions of three novels, Vulcan's Hammer, Dr. Futurity, and The Cosmic Puppets.

"Electric Dreams" is a reference to PKD's story that inspired "Blade Runner" titled "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?"

Channel 4's broadcast schedule will see episodes 1-5 broadcast in consecutive weeks. Episode 6 will be broadcast after a 1 week break (due to live coverage of the F1: U.S. Grand Prix). Episodes 7-10 will be broadcast in early 2018.

Channel four commissioned considerably more episodes than they did with there other anthology series 'Black Mirror' after losing it to Netflix and missing out on several million pounds. They clearly do not want to make the same mistake.
