In 1980s Italy, a romance blossoms between a seventeen year-old student and the older man hired as his father's research assistant.
In the book, Elio is an Italian-American kid who speaks Italian and English. In the film, since Timothée is fluent in French, his character speaks three languages namely, English, Italian and French.
In my place, most parents would hope the whole thing goes away. Pray their sons land on their feet, but... I am not such a parent.
