  • Warning: Spoilers
Well, ok not sure if it's the acting or writing or trying to make grown men look like teenagers. "Let's just stick a cap on his head and make him look all angsty, that'll do it"...not. It gets better until the "Americans" enter the Frey. Andrews and his boss are absolutely terrible, it is like they are reading from Auto Que, nothing seems natural, I have seen trees act better than these 2, it's that bad. As for "Gary" and his wife, jeez if she says "ok baby" one more time I think my TV may have a controller sticking out of it. I'm only 30 episodes in so there is plenty of time to need a new TV or 2.

That said, I am sticking with it, because I am so intrigued with this subject. I have seen all the narco based series, in my opinion JJ is the best out there. El Chema is currently bottom of my list, maybe I'll update when I've seen the whole series. It seems very loosely based on el chapo which is the only reason I'm sticking with it. My opinion, worth a go if you can look past the bad acting and manboys.

Update: so I've now sat through all 82 episodes. It gets better but does seem to drag a bit in the 70-80 episode range. The acting does improve, or more likely the ones I didn't like leave. The end of the last episode leaves a lot of unanswered questions, like what happens to the other Mexican drug lords, what happens to the Columbian drug lords, indeed what happens to Chen's and Ricardo. It looked set up for a season 2 but no season 2 appears to be on the horizon 3 years after the end of the first series. I expected more....but still glad I managed to see past the earlier faults and continue watching it. Still not on the same level as el chapo or JJ but give it a go, you may enjoy it.
  • Will let you know currently reviewing. Looks OK for now
  • I've seen ALL of them and this one by far is the BEST.... keeps you on edge throughout
  • This is god awful acting, especially for a main character. Graphics are on the level of the movie scorpion king. This show is a good idea, but with terrible execution. Would rate a half star if possible!
