I first got into this show back in September of 2017 and ever since I have had an endless praise for this cartoon! It may take a bit to grow on you, but once it does, you enjoy it for what it is (or you don't)! S1 feels a lot like another South Park wannabe, but S2 tries something new and gives us more slice of life based stories and dums down on the crude humor a bit. S3 BARELY uses any grotesque humor to the point where you forget what you're watching is not a kids' show. The characters will occasionally drop the F-Bomb to remind you that you're watching a show for older audiences.

Each character has their own unique arcs and developments! Like The Simpsons and Friendship is Magic, each character has a wide range of personality and it keeps you invested in learning more about them! They become more tolerant of each other by the end of S2 and in S3, more background characters get more focus and more insight! I praise the show for giving all the characters the attention they deserve!

The animation is also some of the most beautiful animation I have ever seen in animation! Unlike other adult shows who try to use their art "styles" to be ugly and vulgar at every opportunity they get, Camp Camp goes for a more innocent, children's animation look you'd see in cartoons like Friendship is Magic or Star VS The Forces of Evil. I love seeing an adult show try to change up the standard adult show formula and do something different with what they got!

I really recommend more people check it out! It's an amazing show that is more openly "adult" than most adult cartoons out there : D
  • The greatly contrasting personalities of the main characters along with the balanced story composed of both comedy and reality work wonders on most audiences. Moreover, the show has strong continuity and consequentiality, and the actual setting has a much larger array of elements and characters than one would initially think, making the show much more immersive and enjoyable.
  • This show reminded me of the early episodes from South Park, with the kids having random adventures rather than dealing with "topical" issues.

I guess that's the key of its charm, its amusing simplicity, which evokes the same kind of fun early South Park had.
  • This adult animated web series is one hilarious show made by the Rooster Teeth team who also made Red vs. Blue and RWBY! One of my favorite characters in this show is Max, a 10 year old boy who is always curses a lot! I watched the Halloween episode and Christmas episode last year and I can't wait to get Seasons 1 & 2 on Blu-Ray!

    Warning: Spoilers
I really like this series for several reasons. among those he mocks some stereotypes, such as nurf in some episode that I do not remember from the first season that shows to be more intelligent or good, more reflective than others. among other aspects that I like about this series are too many.

Every episode is hilarious, the animation is nice and the characters are absolutely perfect! Please watch this!
  • I've always been a huge fan of the shows in the title, Especially south park, So when i found out this was an adult animated series i freaked. Overall the show is good! The characters are fun and I enjoy how the show doesn't overuse adult humor. I also like how the show portrays depression in the main character, Max. It's pretty realistic lol. The show is fun and even if it's not your style it's a good watch. The show is really funny and I'd say you should be about 12-13 to first watch it. I also really love the art style! If you like this show, I also recommend Moral Orel, South park (duh), and Total drama.

"Camp Camp" is an overall good show. The episodes are nice and short, the stories are comical, and the voice cast does an alright job. The characters are all either very enjoyable or annoying and unfunny. This show certainly isn't the greatest animated adult sitcom, but it is still pretty good, aside from some relatively minor issues.
  • The comedy is great(not awesome but still) the character are well differents stereotypes but still with some extra differences that turns them great.

Camp Camp has garnered quite the cult following from Rooster Teeth fans. Unfortunately, I cannot side with them as this show left a rather lame taste in my mouth when I first saw it a few years ago. Having watched more episodes, I can confidently say this Camp Camp is yet another "adult" cartoons. Those who know me know my resentment for these types of cartoons, so let's dive into how Camp Camp fails It's own premise.

Set in the titular Camp Campbell, the show follows the misadventures of it's campers and their camp councilors. Rather than dedicating the time to showing how great camping is and how getting to bond with fellow campers, the showrunners instead focus on humiliating David for being an optimist while everyone else acts like the one dimensional archetypes they're assigned to. Each episode is intent on shocking the viewer with all the hallmarks of the standard "adult" cartoon clichés: blood, gore, sex, swearing, alcohol and drug uses, all the will never adding anything to the plot. What really sinks the writing though is it's just not funny. None of the jokes they make land as they're all easily predictable and the payoff just isn't worth the set up. I saw Nurf stabbing David after a heart to heart chat a mile a way, and I knew there was gonna be a sex dungeon at the end of Journey To Spooky Island (I mean, given the nature of the show, what else could it have been). See this is the type of writing that I hate seeing in cartoons, especially the ones that are supposed to be for adults. It makes me feel like the creators only wanted to get into animation just so they can make cartoon characters that swear and do other obscene things without parents getting riled up about it because "hey, it's not for kids so they won't be tramutized." I hope that's not the case, but this show's writing is evidence that it just might be.

The characters aren't much better as just about everyone in this show has it in for David. David is, by default, the most likable character in the show. He's still as one note as everyone else, but he tries to stay optimistic and he tries finding positive solutions to dire situations. The least likable character by contrast is Max, who for some reason is the main character of the show and not the villain. He's rude, selfish, cynical, and because David's too nice to punish him, he always gets away with causing trouble. His lackies (I refuse to call them his friends -.-) aren't much better in terms of personality. Nikki is a wild child who could've been enjoyable, but she never once gets a laugh out of me because her jokes and antics are predictable and the delivery isn't over-the-top enough. Neil is a science nerd who wanted to go to science camp, but instead he's stuck here and is meant to be the more logical one. Nurf is a bully, Dolph is the German kid, Harrison is the magician, Gwen is the cynical council and the Quarter Master is a creepy old man with a hook. With a cast of characters like this, I'd want to transfer David to somewhere that doesn't stress him out all the time and potentially somewhere where he can develop more as a character.

The voice acting is pretty solid all things considered, but some actors don't work as well as others. Elizabeth Maxwell was okay as Nikki, but she could've been a lot more energetic and make her character sound like an actual crazy kid who means well. Michael Jones was...not good as Max. He sounded dull and unenthusiactic which only makes me like the character less. Yuri Lowenthal though was really good as Neil, making him sound like a reasonable kid who got jipped and tries to be the voice of reason. Miles Luna sounded perfectly chipper as David and his squeals were on point (if they were more properly used I'd actually find them funny). Lee Eddy was fine as Gwen, though she could've exerted more personality into the role (i.e. More sass and perhaps a tough tone). It was a nice treat to hear Dante Bascoe as Billy "Snake" Niksslip and he did a good job giving the character a more gruff voice. All of the other actors were fine, but because of the little material they were given to work with, they don't shine as much as they could've.

Visually the show looks pretty good for a webcartoon. The character designs have appealing and expressive faces, their hairstyles are all distinct and their clothes reflect their personalities. The character animation is fairly natural with the characters having unique walks and their hair flicks up when they movie their heads. Still though, the backgrounds are very well detailed and this is a luscious forest the camp resides in.

Camp Camp is just another "adult" cartoon, only instead of being on network television it's on a channel with over 9 million subscribers (as of this review). Despite some solid voice acting and pretty good animation, the show still suffers from the same things every "adult" cartoon suffers from. Bad writing, unlikable characters, unfunny jokes, and lame uses of obscene content intended to shock the viewer. There are tons of really good webcartoons out there that are much more worth your time than Camp Camp. Better off watching those instead of this lousy cartoon -.-

This show isn't super smart or have amazing morals, this show is simply one to watch for fun with a handful of emotional beats. If you're looking for something smart then this isn't for you but if you're looking for something fun and casual then I would completely recommend checking it out!
  • Im 12, and ive seen mature shows and rated r movies, but i tell her that im watching this and shes livid. i look up the rating here and prove her wrong like i always do.
  • Camp Camp on the surface seems just like every other adult animated show. While it does consist of children arbitrarily swearing and getting into adult situations, it also has the most heart of any show I have ever seen. The children in the show ACTUALLY feel like kids, and go through many serious topics that real kids have to go through, such as divorce, parents in jail, and neglect. It excels in the principle of "Show don't Tell" and the emotional moments make the show. Even without them, the show is one of the funniest I have ever seen with it's dark humor making me cackle out loud every episode. It expertly combines humor with emotion and makes it one of the best shows I have ever seen. If you in any way, shape, or form have ever shown interest in watching this show, it will actually change your life.

Camp camp is fun as anything, the plot is convienient, its actually funny, the characters are unique, the entire show itself is fun and easy to get into so there's really not much to nothing to go wrong with this, it's probably my favourite animated show of all time, liked this since i was 7 (when it first came out) for me i found it really hard to sit and watch an entire show without getting bored but for this i went through season 1 to season 4 without any problems. I still check constantly to see if any new episodes came out and if not i would end up watching the whole season before hand or the entire series altogether i truly love camp camp and i will defend this show with my life

if you ever debate watching this use my review as your influence to WATCH it, but it's really depending on what you are interested in.
