Summary
Reviewers say 'Chemical Hearts' delves into teenage love, loss, and mental health, often likened to John Green's style. Lili Reinhart's performance and the lead chemistry receive praise. However, the film faces criticism for its slow pace, clichés, and pretentiousness. Some argue it romanticizes mental health issues rather than addressing them realistically. Deviations from the book's plot and character development disappoint fans. The ending elicits mixed reactions, contributing to the film's divisive reception.

So last day it was about Chemical Hearts! Strong acting and melancholic drama that portrays the other side of love. It makes our heart thuds and wet.though it doesn't show any death scene but post death emotions and great acting skills delivers all the pain with an uncompromised level. Once again Lili. Austin was subtle but it so realistic about how he is so affectionate to a person who doesn't love him back, how he couldn't find words when he wants to express him and he is ready to offer his soul to the already broken girl and he gets rejected and it breaks his heart! There comes some words about other teenage problems though. It doesn't describe anything other than pain and love. But surely explain the Confused Limbo stage of teens. But as they break up, Austin is finally entering to adulthood and his view change as the film says adults are just scarred teenager who tried to escape the limbo stage! But when it comes to LOVE all adults are just teenagers, doesn't it?
It avoids the typical teenage romance genre clichés and instead focuses on character development and how relationships at a young age shape individuals into who they become as they grow older
Great soundtrack and performances by the lead pair
To be frank, there is no any solid plot in the movie but then also it's watchable as its pretty, cute.
Chemical Hearts, is a film which is told from the films main character Henry's(Austin Abrams) point of view and he narrates the story and we get to know his world. It's a high school romance. Grace(Lilli Reinhart) meets Henry in school and soon Henry realizes there is something intriguing, mystry surrounding Grace.
I loved Henry's character as he was polite, well mannered and talks like most of the confused student does in their school days. Grace character was good but dosent stands out.
I agree the film seems confused most of the time and things looked undercooked and most of the scene would make zero sense. But then the chemistry between the leads is really good and some people will agree there is a certain strangeness to the story telling process which looks good to some extent.
Richard Tanne work is average at best. Actors Austin Abrams and Lili Reinhart did good in the movie.
Inspite of its shortcomings and all the flaws(there are many), I enjoyed the movie. Some scenes bored me but it was a decent watch.

Chemical Hearts is a decent film that spreads mental health awareness. The movie is a love story about a hopeless romantic falling in love with the new girl at school. Lili Reinhart's acting is incredibly touching. Despite the fantastic acting, the story was poorly executed. The plot seemed unfinished. I would recommend this movie to suckers for sappy, romantic, chick-flicks.
This is a really good movie, better than I expected. I like Lili Reinhart, having watched her as Betty in "Riverdale", she also was a producer for this new-release movie on Amazon streaming. Set and filmed in New Jersey, she is high school senior Grace Town, new to this school, with a limp and a cane.
Austin Abrams is Henry Page, also a senior and newly appointed school newspaper editor. Grace and Henry become friends and then more, but Grace always seems distant, something is bothering her, she doesn't speak about it easily. It is wrapped up in the bad wreck about a year earlier that killed her friend and cut her track career short.
The title is a reference to several things, one a comment made early while looking at the night sky, that we are just molecules, chemicals, made from exploded star remnants. Another is what Henry's doctor sister says about chemical changes in the minds of teenagers, as they start to leave behind childhood and cope with what it means to be a young adult. Teenagers develop Chemical Hearts.
The movie doesn't have a wrapped up, happily ever after ending but it does have Henry and Grace each headed in perhaps better directions, preparing for young adulthood. My wife and I watched it at home on Amazon streaming.
