    Warning: Spoilers
This is kind of a cool blood and gore movie, about a tour bus of people coming to watch a rodeo at a small town. The rodeo is over, and all at once, a sadistic band of killers show up to torture and kill everybody. That's not just the tour bus people, but pretty much everybody in this small town. That is THE story, which more or less, you have zero idea why they are doing this, so the whole movie is extreme violence and some pretty damn good gore effects. This is not a movie that viewers need a clean cut plot as to why the killers are killing, and the victims are trying to survive. I am one of those that have no problems with that, as long as the death effects are done well, and they are. I had fun with this gorefest, and gorehounds should get a kick out of it. Good Friday night extremely violent gorefest, and I enjoyed it. 3.5/5
  • On the surface, there could be a decent horror movie in this. Killer cowboys hunting down people? It's a silly enough that it could merit some entertainment.

Unfortunately, it's just not a great or even decent horror film. The characters are thinly written and sometimes completely pointless (did we really even need a senior tour group involved?), the acting is mediocre, the dialogue is awful, the pacing is erratic, the movie is not very scary and a lot of things happen at random with no rhyme or reason. Worst of all, too much of it feels like an excuse to showcase long, over-the-top torture scenes. Admittedly, some of the gore is effectively nasty and it's not badly directed in terms of cinematic presentation, but after a while you start to grow numb to the violence. One person's death means no more than the other's when we have no investment in their safety and there's nothing else happening in the plot to justify its existence.

Even more obnoxiously, it's clear that this was made by people who hate cowboys and rural culture, but have never been to a rodeo, talked to a real cowboy/ranch-hand or understand anything about them outside of cartoons. I know I'm asking too much from a mindless action movie that wants to have it both ways by being an over-the-top parody and a serious horror movie, but it comes off as amateurish and at times like ignorant animal rights propaganda (which is crow-barred into the story for no particular reason because it never plays into the story after its original discussion). All we know from this film is that cowboys are murderous human and animal abusers that need to be slaughtered just...because.

So yeah, this is a big ole pass, pardner.
  • So "Lasso" delivers the goods in spades with gore and some gnarly scenes. Psychotic Cowboys. A novel idea! Yes? A group of Seniors and a few stragglers on a field trip end up at a rodeo that is revealed to be anything but routine. Soon they end up on the proverbial chopping block.

The movie is a brisk 90 minutes and cuts to the chase... We don't get any backstory on the baddies. Nor do we get much backstory on the victims either. I was hoping for maybe more chase scenes. But overall It's no dealbreaker for me. Still it would've been nice to get just a little more story on both parties. Why are the Rodeo workers doing this? Who knows!

The film also looks and sounds great. The calibrated weapons of choice are also a nice touch. On paper a roving gang of homicidal Cowboys sounds silly. But it makes the most of the absurd premise. It plays it fairly straight.

Still with it's very minor flaws the film is pretty enjoyable. Shakespeare this is not. Rustle up some grub or a brew and enjoy the show Hoss. Yeehaw!
  • This movie had a good premise but it soon became apparent it was not what was listed on the tin; this is not really a horror it is more of a horror gore comedy and not very good at that.

I think it must have been made by the animal welfare/vegan nutbag brigade as it definitely seems to turn the tables and put humans in the position of the cows/bulls and so I was looking for some interesting ideas/kills and the aforementioned reviewers mention of over the top gore and well I was most disappointed.

It was your usual low budget horror affair - poor acting, minimal script and that is fine as it is part and parcel of the usual genre but what lets it down are the poor kills and terrible gore effects. I was waiting also for the usual BLM and LGBT narrative and yip within 10 minutes we have a black transexual bodybuilder cowboy and for once it was actually the best idea in the whole thing. Add in a bus full of potential kick-ass pensioners and it could have been interesting as not many horrors involve offing a busload of our aged generation but the pensioners but one were all just cattle to the slaughter so to speak.

From the other reviewers I thought this was going to be a gore-fest but the gore was very tame; the blood looked like paint and the effects were really really bad. There was zero tension and suspense and no real horror as it was loaded with humour (I am not entirely certain that this was meant either). I counted 5 scenes I laughed at - the one armed cowboy become no armed, the pensioner being swung round like a whirlygig and head smashed off a few trees Alienvspredator stylee and 3 other scenes which I will leave you to find for yourself and that was the summary of the laughs.

I feel sorry for Sean Patrick Flannery - from the magnificent Boondock Saints to this...oh my oh my he must really be needing the cash badly and he was the only one in the thing who could actually act!

If you like to see buses of pensioners being tortured (badly) and killed or just not like old people then this might be right up your street but for me it was one of those movies your start and think is going to be interesting but you quickly start pressing the play button to see how long it has to go - never a good sign - Nevertheless it always gets a fair rating from me and its a sad 3/10 from me on this one!
  • It started off well, and the quality of everything looks really nice. I'm not completely into slasher flicks. I tend to prefer a little bit more plot. So when things got in the thick of it, and there wasn't a plot. It did drag a little bit. I would have preferred more of a motive as well.

The gore effects are done really well though, so I can imagine if this was a film you'd go for. It'd be enjoyable from that perspective.

I thought the set up had so much potential, and the actors seemed good too. So it wasn't really low budget like a lot of horror out there. Like I can see what was done well, even if it's not a film I'd enjoy a lot.
  • It's undeniable that "Lasso" resembles a movie and there are even examples of the movie having some style, care and love put into it. But it's also a stupid movie. Characters, though somewhat interesting, often act stupidly, violence is over the top (which doesn't match with the serious tone movie is trying to have) and the whole thing just lacks polish, atmosphere and talent to be better than it is. We have a main character that looks and acts like an illegal son of Enrique Iglesias and he is often irritating because his personality is that of a weak and scared city boy who is incapable to man up and face the situation until, predictably, the very end of the movie. And I know that's the point, but it doesn't make it any less irritating. His female counterpart isn't any better and manages to be a less engaging character than him, for whom we at least care for because the majority of the movie is based on his perspective. While the movie isn't so bad you will cheer for it to end (movie has a cool ending scene with a good song), it's just not what I would call a good movie and I fail to see how one of my fellow reviewers could give it 8/10 with a clear conscience while praising the unpredictability of the victims among characters like it's some kind of a monumental achievement. All in all, I think "Lasso" has an appropriate score on this page and that's why I will give it 4.5/10! It can be a onetime watch for genre fans and provide some entertainment, but it's ultimately a below average horror movie.
  • Only worth watching for Lindsey and Heather, maybe they could do something together ?
  • Sorry to say that But This movie is waste of your time, very bad roll of the Simon ( Andrew Jacobs) literally was very angry upon him. There was too good character was of Trish (Skyler Cooper) and Ennis (Sean Patrick Flanery). These two peoples were so movie was good nor Apart from them bakwas movie, means perthitic movie waste of you time.

I had rated one star i did not like this movie and also not recommended to others.

This is not demonic Horror it's seral Killer movie. I am totallly dis-satisfied after watching this movie.

There is unique thing that old peoples just waste the cool waster.
  • This movie is for fans of the slasher genre. If you aren't one of those to begin with, then you might not care for it. But if you are a fan of the genre, then LASSO delivers the goods in terms of suspense and plentiful well-executed gore scenes. It also messes with some of the formulas in a fun way. Rather than hapless oversexed teens being dispatched by the bloodthirsty cowboys, we have a tour bus full of old folks. There's something extra fun about seeing old people fight back. There were a couple of scenes where I found myself clapping in my chair. This isn't CITIZEN KANE, but as far as modern slasher films go, it gets very high marks from this fan. A solid 9 out of 10.
  • Warning: Spoilers
This movie was TERRIBLE!! So much character gross incompetence it was laughable! Simon was pathetic. Like,he LITERALLY couldn't get a brush that had fallen under the bleachers, couldn't gag a MURDERESS, couldn't make a sane, sound decision to LITERALLY save his life......and the rest of the cast was no better. Miss Rodeo princess couldn't hoist herself onto a 5 foot tall window ledge.....of a building that had literal loose boards just leaning on it.....if only one could find some way to utilize these, make , I don't know, a RAMP of some sort?! AND she had to take off her hat to lighten her body weight to enter said window......who LEAVES A SAFE OPEN!?!? Isn't it's purpose,by definition, supposed to be an item you keep CLOSED!?! I did actually enjoy the old people. THEY were cool. But the rest of the cast (except Sean) sucked and I wanted them all to die.

I found this movie the other day. What a find. Lots of Blood and Gore. I Luved It. It did start out a bit slow, I was beginning to wonder if this was a horror movie. Usually these movies start out with a killing. Once the movie picked up, it got better. Good story and special effects. I would say it was pretty original. Glad that I saw it. I wouldn't say that for much of the horror movies that I see. Average horror movies rank at a 3-5, this is much higher. Check out this one.
  • What an awesome surprise! We just watched the premiere at the Oakland International Filmfestival and were blown away. This movie will be an instant fan favorite ... in its deviousness reminiscent of Tucker & Dale and Peter Jackson's Braindead it delivers the most outrageous kills with sardonic consequence .. anything you can imagine doing with branding iron, cattle prod and horseshoe - the movie has it and more .. 2 points aubtracted for the cringe worthy dialogue .. it feels surprisingly sloppy given the overall care that has been put into the film (direction, camera work, production design and F/X are excellent). All in all a very funny romp. 8/10
  • In your average type horror film you usually have the bad guy or guys, chasing the scantily clad young woman or women and possibly a guy or 2 but they'll die first. In Lasso, a truly different gore-fest, you have women, seniors, a seemingly helpless young guy, and a cowboy with one arm, all running and fighting for their lives. Throw in a rodeo clown with rainbow striped suspenders and this is a very enjoyable thrilling, horror film. You don't exactly know who is going to die, which is great, it's suspenseful and also witty and having seen it twice, it's memorable. It definitely deserve much higher than it's current 4.7 rating.
  • The movie follows a group of elderly tourists who are on a trip to attend a rodeo show, but their excursion takes a dark turn when they are kidnapped by a gang of twisted cowboys who force them to participate in a deadly game of survival.

The film boasts a talented cast, including Sean Patrick Flanery, Lindsey Morgan, and Andrew Jacobs, who deliver solid performances throughout. The cinematography effectively captures the bleak, rural setting of the film, and the visuals and gore are well executed.

At times, the story can feel clichéd and predictable and the characters are not well-developed enough to fully engage the audience. However, "Lasso" remains a convincing horror movie that delivers thrills and scares,. It is worth checking out for horror fans and broader audiences who are looking for a fresh take on the genre.
