  • I liked the pace, style, acting, quirky people and the encredibly sweet story. Made me smile and cry at the same time. Some might find it a bit cheasy which might be the reason why it got a low score, but I thought the acting was solid and the storyline compelling. Uncomplicated.

Pretty standard fare but it was well produced. The star was really the horse. There was one scene during the race that the horse really did run flat out!! That was amazing!!
  • The three reviews are all correct. I gave it a 5-6 as I love positive movies and am tired of all the negatives, especially as I have fled from a country with a narco dictator and I needed something uplifting. The negative comment was also correct as some of the scenes were so far fetched that they detracted from the plot, as shown in the race, the most extreme but not solely un plausible scene. The other negative which bothered me is the "condemnation" of the mother trying to save her child, still a minor. This sets a bad presidence for youth at the same time it was criticizing medical advances.

The only thing I didn't understand is why that character had to exit. Why? WHY? I mean, the story is veering towards the ideal direction, WHY NOT JUST INCLUDE THE WHOLE PACKAGE? 😭 Okay fine. I do understand. It shows THAT side of the situation. But it's just not cool man, not cool. To say that it's heartbreaking is an understatement.

I do think that they didn't intend for the movie to be that deep; just enough for people to see and gain perspective. I'm saying this because the movie is FILLED with out of this world nonsense that's just there to further sensationalize your viewing experience. So, chill with the realistic points; you'll only tire yourself. 🤣

The movie was very good. I must admit I am not a fan of German movies nor too much drama, but...

The acting was pretty good, but I have to agree with other review I saw here..the horse is really a star of the movie and I came for the horse literally.

In some moments I felt that although the girl is in fact the only person the horse wants to get attached, I missed the real chemistry from the girl towards the animal. Did not expect this much drama. The death of the boy was a surprise, really, and sad.

All in all, if you like animals, with positive ending for sure, this movie is for you. You'll not regret it.
  • Nothing new here, pretty predictable. If you start thinking about it too much, the plot holes begin to manifest themselves, but nothing beyond what would be expected of a movie of this type; it's probably a bit better than average for a movie of this genre. (Frankly, what I will remember most from this film, which I watched, dubbed, on Netflix, was that the dubbing and the subtitles were from different translations. The meanings were generally the same, although not always, and the profanity was more limited in the subtitles. The usage of the word "amateur," for somebody riding for a cash prize, also seemed a little strange.)
  • I saw a review on this movie that said the words didn't match up with lip movement, but if you're watching it on Netflix, it's in a language other than English, which is why the words don't work right.
  • There are a lot of great dramas about disease and animals helping through the process of recovery and etc, but this is definitely not the case, I felt it had a lot of potential with some pretty decent acting but it's not used really well, the dialogue is just predictable as the storyline, nothing really remarkable happens but you can kind of enjoy if you just turn you brain off a little and just enjoy some sweet moments between this teenage girl and that beautiful horse. Just don't go for this looking for a great film, it's just forgettable but you can enjoy it a little if you're not looking for something complex and deep.

Perfection!! Just perfection. Beautiful!! The last 30 min made my cry so hard. This is a movie for inspiration. It made me realise that what ever you are going through, how hard it is, you can make it. Beautiful! One to watch!

"Rock my Heart is" a German 105-minute (or slightly longer with credits) movie from 2017, so it is not a new release, but still relatively recent. The director is Hanno Olderdissen and he is also part of the writing staff for this film. It is his second full feature film i believe. If you take a look at the cast list, you will find many known names: Hallervorden, Peschel, Frier, von Bülow, Sarnau, Stier and these are only the ones that come to mind for me. There is certainly many more experienced actors to be seen here. Even lead actress Lena Klenke is much more prolific already than you would imagine given her age, which, however, is considerably above the age of the character she is portraying. This is a film about a young female protagonist struggling with heart disease and how her life takes a completely new direction when getting in touch with Hallervorden's character and a very special horse. So yep there are many parallels to Ostwind here, a fairly long-running film franchise here in Germany these days and I think 4 installments have been released already. Admittedly, Ostwind id not good, not at all, but neither is this one here. It is probably on the same level as the Ostwind film with the lowest quality (maybe the third or second, the first was tolerable, 4th I haven't seen yet). Which means "Rock My Heart" is as bad as its title is cringeworthy. A lot. This is the name of the horse by the way and of course a reference to the main character's disease. Okay, I will give you a few examples of specific moments and scenes that were the evidence for me why this is not a good movie. First of all, it needs to be said that even most of the more famous actors have either not enough screen time, weak material or are just not giving good performances. The one exception is Hallervorden. Then again, they certainly used his big name a lot here and he is definitely the MVP from the cast. But that is also because everybody else is pretty pale and he is at least rocksolid as always thanks to his great charisma too. Lead actress Klenke tries to make the most with what she is given, which is not a lot. Ik still think she is better than the lead actress from Ostwind (1-3). Now about the specific scenes I mentioned. All the dramatic scenes involving the heart disease feel fake and for the sake of it and the consequence is that there is never really genuine emotion coming up. You have to be very foolish (or very young) to fall fotr this. The best example is how she lies motionless on the ground after the race. I cringed, i won#t deny it. Well, the romance aspect, of course there is one was not too good either, which also had to do with the bad line delivery from the male actor. As for the race, it is just ridiculous. It was always clear she would win it to be triumphant and also get the money for keeping the farm. Another highly stereotypical threat (the bank) that added nothing except shaking heads. But yeah back to the race, there is just no way after how it all started that she would still win it in reality. Absolutely. No. F. Way. But the filmmakers here (and it was not just one foolish) writer really expect to believe us. The epitome of dramatic for the sake of it and just highly unauthentic. And finally the way in which Hallervorden's character moves the ailing protagonist out of the hospital up onto the horse. That had almost horror movie potential admittedly. Heavy stuff how the filmmakers here also gave modern medicine the middle finger. Of course, our heroine will only get better on top of her beloved horse. And of course the horse is suffering too in the absence of his rider. Now as for Hallervorden's character, it is truly baffling how the parents (especially Frier) are still so in favor of the man despite what his daughter diid because of him. I mean in real life they would have sued him for sure. Or strictly forbidden their daughter to have any kind of contact with him. Here the father is chill, the mother is fuming, but also only for seconds until she realizes how Hallervorden's character helped her daughter to find meaning and find a dream worth fighting for. It just doesn't make sense. I cannot even call the film pretentious, because of how shoddy it is written despite the makers here clearly thinking they come up with something extraordinary. Character writing is also not their strength by any means. Shades are virtually non-existent whatsoever. Either completely good characters (almost all of them really) or antagonists that of course are just jealous etc. How uncreative. The ending indicated there could be a sequel. I hope not, this first film was bad enough already. Such a shame that the current generation of horse-themed films for kids/girls here in Germany is so bad after Buck's Bibi&Tina (okay not sure you cann call that horse-themed) was pretty solid and entertaining. "Rock My Heart" did not rock my world at all. Huge thumbs-down and I suggest you keep your distance from this one.
  • Whether you like horse movies or medical challenge movies try to kick back and enjoy true to life warm moments this movie offers.

A young woman with a potentially lethal health issue meets a beautiful big talented horse who has equally challenging temperament issues, which for horses are also potentially lethal.

You'll see those criticize this for plot or cinema graphic imperfecrions. Have they not heard "Art imitates life?". In real life, the vast majority of people carrying a disability label, don't want to be told what they cannot do, especially at Jana's age(film's protagonist). Too many talented horses Have been completely given up on,or met tragic fates, because as social creatures they were deprived of developing emotional bonds that are so integral to a healthy horse. A good horse will give you their all & their everything when a bond is forged. For these reasons, and not pretending to be a professional film critic, I think the film perfectly hits all its marks. For critical reviews here, I ask- which language version did you watch?(several avail); how many horses have you lived with &/or ridden?; How many inner cowgirls have you known? True cowgirls &/or other disciplines of horsemanship have met rider's who's anatomical self won't cooperate with thier heart, brain & spirits desires? All that Ive known also muscle up and put immense effort into living as well as appearing as normal bodied as everyone else. This is one integral trait shared with a well matched horse.

Lastly for those claiming predictability, That indeed is how many times art imitates life. Rock my heart is enjoyable entertainment for all who give it a chance.

Rock my heart is an atmospheric movie about a girl called Jana, Jana has a heart problem that causes her pulse to be really low. Rock my heart is a film where Jana tries to win a horse race and Jana enters. The cast is good with some poor characters here and there but mostly good characters. The plot is poor with little to no excitement. I'd watch this film once and then never again. Over all its a ok at best the characters are really good and the plot is poor. SPOILER: At the end of the movie Jana wins the race and the money. You can see the ending from a mile away. Give it a watch but don't watch it again.

It made me cry. It's a really great and lovely movie, great actors.. <3 I enjoyed it a lot. It's worth your time. :) We love it here in the Philippines :)
  • The voices do not match the lip movement. It's very annoying.
  • A heartwarming tail. This is a believable tail. Being someone who has worked with horses and know that a horse can actually do the things in the story. Horses have personality's just like people. I can relate to the lead character in the story because I have a heart condition and never let it get in the way of achieving the impossible. I was a teen when dignosed and I also rebelled against my elders when they told me I could not do things I knew in my heart I could. Its not a story about rebellion but about the love and bond a girl and a hose have. Amazing story and a great watch.

Wash i watching a different film to the people who gave such low marks. It was a lovely film, i didn't find anything wrong with it at all. I love horse racing and riding. Horses can interaction with humans in a very positive way, and do understand their emotions too. Once she got into the rythm of the live horse it was plain sailing for her and exhilerating. there is nothing like a fast gallop over open spaces and it can leave you feeling just wonderful and totally energized. Using those mechanical horses is horrible and they jerk you about and to be honest make you feel sick its nothing in comparison to the real thing.

I found it really sad but also uplifting at the end as families were healed.a long with a person heart.

This is a great movie for teenagers too. I really lovely love story with animal and human being.

good acting and the scenery was great and the colours good too.

Yes i loved it. To be honest i forget it was a german production as the dubbing was so good.
