The short film was made around the time Brighton was getting a controversial building erected, the i360. The controversy was the aesthetic of the building, being a big grey pole structure which makes an appearance at the end of the short film.
Co-director, Cameron Faulkner, edited an alternate version of 'Seagull Man: The Brighton Superhero' and released it a week later. The alternate version showed Seagull Man in a darker light and the true menace of seagulls.
