Late Night boredom for cable addicts
In the wide, wide world of pornography, those lucky few filmmakers and videos that manage to crack (no pun, please) the barrier to more mainstream acceptance via pay-cable exposure are a drop in the bucket. Holly Randall joins distaff pornographer Jacky St. James in Showtime's most favored nations club with "Erotic Getaway", a watered down for cable version of a standard XXX Lifestyle Porn outing.
Rather talky by porn standards (all the better to qualify for soft-core cable once the naughty bits have been carefully removed), it has gal pals Aidra Fox and Charlotte Stokely visiting an intimate resort to spread their wings, after Aidra finds her relationship with boyfriend Seth Gamble (once again stuck with one of his recent bad haircuts) stultifying.
They witness a far more open lifestyle, and after some coaxing, heroine Aidra goes with the flow. Of course lesbian icon Charlotte Stokely (in the second, mature phase of a career that extends back over a decade and includes innumerable bondage/fetish crap) goes to bed with Aidra, as well as the inevitable clinch with stud Tyler Nixon. Dillion Harper is on hand at the resort to do her usual bit: look perky, and add some eye-candy variety.
Second-generation filmmaker Holly Randall, who depressed me no end with her recent infantile effort "Flesh: House of Hedonism", is best at casting, not so much at directing. All five of the performers here are talented and photogenic, but the dialog and situations assigned them are relentlessly banal and uninteresting. Any random '60s soft-core feature film on the subject (of sexual openness) is far more fascinating than this time-killer for insomniacs.
