What worked for the ladies, less so for the guys
Second volume of Nica Noelle's drama series about boy/boy liaisons is derived from her and before that Girlfriends Films' achievement in the "Women Seeking Women" lesbian sex series. I think I know why the concept doesn't adapt all that well.
It's probably a simple issue of soft vs. hard. Sure, there are plenty of gonzo lesbian extravaganzas, as stars like Bonnie Rotten, Lily Cade and especially Madison Young get rough with the sex. But generally the lesbian romances like those of the WSW series are soft, even when going XXX, while "rough trade" is the name of the game with the boys on their own.
Nica tries to square this circle by having her male cast be sensual and apparently channeling their inner female, resulting in wimpiness. The acting is okay, the sex mechanical as usual, but there's no oomph or sizzle.
Brendan Patrick, one of the best actors in her troupe, takes two roles: first he plays a guy about to join the priesthood, having a sexual fling with Alex Greene just before taking the plunge. His second character hooks up with Nica regular Adam Russo for a nostalgic tryst, with Adam playing the closeted role of a guy stuck in a sham marriage for the past 6 years.
Youngsters Brandon WIlde and newcomer Sam Fitch escalate from being pals to being lovers, while Nica presents her big-dick secret weapon Sam Truitt (whose acting remains weak at best) to bear Billy Santoro for that patented older/younger action.
The soul-searching and guilt trips of these skeleton scenarios don't fit the "ready to hump" natures of the porn players, and since this is all played quite seriously (no hint of camp) it's difficult to accept at face value. The actors do as they're told by their talented femme helmer, but I didn't find the stories credible.
