- The survivors mourn, burn the dead, and then celebrate their victory. During the somber feast, Daenerys uplifts the mood by legitimizing Gendry as a Baratheon, naming him Lord of Storm's End. Arya gently declines Gendry's subsequent marriage proposal while Jaime and Brienne become lovers. To protect her claim to the throne, Daenerys asks Jon to conceal his true parentage. Bronn arrives and threatens Jaime and Tyrion but spares them in exchange for being promised Highgarden castle. Jon reveals his true parentage to Sansa, Bran, and Arya, swearing them to secrecy. Wanting Jon as king, Sansa tells Tyrion, who informs Varys. Arya and the Hound head for King's Landing, separately bent on revenge. Tormund returns north with the Wildlings, taking Ghost at Jon's request. Daenerys and her fleet set sail for King's Landing, while Jon leads the Northern army. At Dragonstone, Euron's navy ambushes Daenerys' fleet, killing Rhaegal with ship-mounted ballistas. Missandei is taken hostage and Daenerys considers seizing King's Landing using dragonfire. Varys and Tyrion debate whether Jon would be a better ruler than Daenerys. Jaime leaves Winterfell to return to Cersei, despite Brienne's pleas to stay. Cersei rejects Daenerys' demand to surrender and has Missandei beheaded before an enraged Daenerys and Grey Worm.
- The survivors mourn and burn the dead. Sansa mourns Theon, Daenerys mourns Jorah. Daenerys legitimizes Gendry as a Baratheon, naming him Lord of Storm's End. Arya declines Gendry's subsequent marriage proposal. Arya says that she is not a lady and a domestic life is not what she is looking for. She still has names on her list that she needs to kill. during drinking Jaime learns Brienne is a virgin still. Brienne is upset and goes back to her cabin. Jaime follows her. Jaime and Brienne become lovers. To protect her claim to the throne, Daenerys wants Jon to conceal his true parentage (she had seen how the men revered his bravery on the battlefield and knows that if they know his ancestry, they will not hesitate to crown him as the King of the seven kingdoms). Jon is the true blood of Rhaegar Targaryen. Thus his claim on the Iron Throne is higher than that of Daenerys to begin with. She knows that even Sansa would want to see Jon on the Iron Throne instead of her.
Now the attention turns towards King's Landing. Half the Unsullied are dead. Cersei has the 20,000 soldiers from Golden compass. The balance is now even. Daenerys wants to attack with her dragons, but Tyrions wants to kill Cersei without destroying the city. Daenerys is a little angry with Tyrion for that. Jon proposes a long siege and to cut off the supply routes so that the people of the city rebel against Cersei. They want the people to see that Cersei is their only enemy.
Bronn arrives to kill Jaime and Tyrion for Cersei, but spares them in exchange for being promised Highgarden castle. Jon reveals his Targaryen claim to Sansa (Sophie Turner) and Arya, swearing them to secrecy. Wanting Jon as king, Sansa tells Tyrion, who informs Varys. Sansa really dislikes the idea of handing over power to Daenerys and then serving as her vassal state for all eternity. She tells Tyrion that Daenerys will never be the "just" queen that they all hope she will be.
Arya and Sandor the Hound head for King's Landing, bent on revenge against Cersei. Gilly is preggers with Sam's baby. She wants to name the baby "Jon" if its a boy. Tormund returns north with the Wildlings, taking Ghost at Jon's request. Daenerys and her fleet set sail for King's Landing, while Jon leads the Northern army. Varys and Tyrion argue that Jon doesn't want the throne. He cant marry Daenerys as she is his aunt. Varys worries about Daenerys's state of mind.
At Dragonstone, Euron's navy ambushes her fleet, killing Rhaegal with ship-mounted scorpions. Daenerys wants to destroy Euron right there, but backs off as she knows she will loose Drogon too. Euron then targets Daenerys's fleet, destroying many ships. Missandei is taken hostage. Cersei moves the entire population of KIng's Landing to inside the castle. Daenerys considers seizing King's Landing using dragon-fire from Drogon. Varys pleads that doing so will result in the death of thousands of innocent people and hence this option should not be considered. Tyrion wants Daenerys to give Cersei a chance to surrender. Make an effort to avoid the bloodshed.
Varys (Conleth Hill) and Tyrion debate whether Jon would be a better ruler than Daenerys. Varys starts to root for Jon as he knows a boy from a Targaryen father and a Stark mother might finally be able to keep the North within the seven kingdoms. Tyrion still roots for Daenerys and believes that she will make the right choice. Varys tells Tyrion that Daenerys has to die for Jon to assume his rightful place on the throne. Varys says the innocent people of the seven kingdom also have a right to life and happiness and he will continue to fight for that right. Jaime feels compelled to return to Cersei, despite Brienne's plea that he stay (she knows that Jamie will die if he goes back to defend Cersei against the coming onslaught).
Cersei defiantly refuses Daenerys' demand to surrender and has Missandei (Nathalie Emmanuel) beheaded before an enraged Daenerys and Grey Worm (Jacob Anderson). Before dying Missandei uses the fire word for dragons, indicating to Daenerys that she wanted King's Landing burnt to the ground.
