Disneyland has kicked off its 70th anniversary celebrations.
Starting Friday through summer 2026, the Anaheim theme park is celebrating seven decades with festivities across the resort. Decor, food and even the rides have all been sprinkled with the park’s signature brand of magic pixie dust.
In the esplanade between Disneyland and California Adventure, guests will get to see a 50-foot sculpture inspired by Sleeping Beauty Castle with colorful glass panels and golden charms representing the five original lands.
Main Street, U.S.A. In the heart of Town Square, has an installation featuring Mickey and Minnie created just for the anniversary, and an elegant medallion adorns Sleeping Beauty Castle.
Among the entertainment and rides that have been updated to mark the celebrations are the addition of “Coco’s” Miguel and his trusted sidekick Dante to the classic It’s a Small World Ride.

Every Live-Action Disney Princess Movie Ranked As Per IMDb Score(Photo Credit –Facebook)
Let’s face it, nobody does fairy tales like Disney. For decades, we grew up with animated princesses singing through magical forests, falling in love, and battling villains with a little help from animal sidekicks. But in recent years, Disney’s been busy giving these classics a fresh coat of paint with live-action remakes. Some were total crowd-pleasers; others… not so much. Whether you’re a die-hard Disney fan or just curious about which remake is worth a watch, here’s a breakdown of how the live-action princess movies have fared according to IMDb ratings.
1. The Little Mermaid (2023) – IMDb: 7.2
There was a lot of buzz around this one long before it even dropped. And you know what? It delivered more than people expected. Halle Bailey stepped into Ariel’s fins with grace and power—her performance was heartfelt and nuanced,...

Jordan’s Royal Film Commission has boosted its cash rebate for international film and TV production to 45%, as part of a bolstered offering of film and TV production incentives, unveiled at the Cannes Film Festival on Wednesday
The new package of incentives, which was approved by the Jordanian cabinet on Sunday, aims to support the local film industry at the same time as bolstering Jordan’s position as a destination for international film and TV productions.
With its world heritage sites such as Petra and stunning desert landscapes, which include Wadi Rum, Jordan has worked hard to establish itself as shooting destination over the past two decades with productions touching down in the territory including Denis Villeneuve’s Dune and Dune 2, JJ Abrams’ Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise Of Skywalker, and Guy Richie’s Aladdin.

Hollywood Thailand has inked a theatrical distribution deal with Commercial Films Siam for “Dream!,” an English-language musical that will hit cinemas across Thailand and the Southeast Asia region in December.
The production, directed by Paul Spurrier, marks the first Thai musical in over 50 years and is the first Thai film produced entirely in English. The project spent five years in development, six months in workshops and casting, and nine months filming across eight Thai provinces.
The musical features 10-year-old Amata “Manao” Masmalai in her breakout role as Lek, a young girl on a magical journey across Thailand to find a new family.
“We auditioned more than 200 young actors for the role of Lek,” said producer David Cluck. “What we found in Manao was something rare — honesty, emotional depth and natural musicality. She anchors the film with extraordinary grace.”

Jordan has unveiled an “enhanced financial incentives program” for film and TV productions early on Wednesday during the Cannes Film Festival.
The Royal Film Commission – Jordan said its new cash rebate will cover 25-45 percent of the in-country spend for qualifying film and TV projects, compared to the 25 percent cap so far. The exact percentage is determined by “a points-based system assessing the project’s size, incorporation of Jordanian cultural content, and its artistic, cultural, and economic value,” it said.
Projects with production expenditures exceeding $10 million and integrating Jordanian cultural elements can qualify for the maximum rebate of 45 percent.
In addition, “for local productions, the rebate has been raised from 10 percent to 30 percent for projects with spending over $500,000 – part of a broader effort to empower Jordanian producers and stimulate the domestic production industry,” the commission said.
Existing additional financial savings on the likes of sales tax and customs duty also remain in place.

A great role can make a career... if there's a decent follow up. A good actor makes you believe they are the character, but sometimes, if they make you believe too well, it becomes impossible to see them as anyone else -- and that turned out to be the case for many of the actors on this list. A significant chunk of them have even been nominated for and sometimes even won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor, only to find that the same energy couldn't be duplicated in other parts less perfectly tailored to their skills. Some struggled because of industrywide racial stereotypes limiting their opportunities, while others may have been limited in range to begin with and were incredibly lucky to find the one part that really worked.
A few of these "one-hit wonders" did not remain so forever and should serve as models of perseverance. Others...

Lilo & Stitch has set multiple records during the first day of its advance ticket sales. The Disney live-action movie is a remake of their 2002 animated release of the same name, which was nominated for the Oscar for Best Animated Feature. It will follow young Hawaiian girl Lilo (Maia Kealoha) befriending a chaotic blue alien creature named Stitch (Chris Sanders) after he crash lands on Earth. The upcoming Lilo & Stitch was directed by Marcel the Shell with Shoes On's Dean Fleischer Camp and also stars Sydney Elizebeth Agudong, Billy Magnussen, Hannah Waddingham, Zach Galifianakis, and Courtney B. Vance.
Per Deadline, Lilo & Stitch has earned the most first-day ticket presales for a PG-rated movie of the year so far on Fandango. That distinction had previously gone to A Minecraft Movie, which recently passed the $875 million milestone at the worldwide box office. It has also earned the second-best presales during the...

Disney CEO Bob Iger says get your (movie theater) popcorn ready.
On a Wednesday morning conference call with media analysts, Iger sung the praises of Disney’s upcoming theatrical-release calendar.
“I have a lot of confidence that are upcoming slate,” Iger said. He then pretty much listed all of them out individually.
Iger said he has personally seen the live-action Lilo & Stitch “a few times” and “can endorse it wholeheartedly,” adding: “Tracking is enormous.”
Lilo & Stitch is headed for a four-day domestic debut of $120 million, one of the best showings ever for Disney’s live-action reimaginings, according to sources with access to data from the National Research Group. The firm also gives ranges in addition to a target number; in this case, it is $110-$130 million.
Other films Iger singled out for having his attention and endorsement are Pixar’s Elio (June) and The Fantastic Four: First Steps (July), as well as Tron: Ares,...

“Black Adam” and “Aladdin” star Marwan Kenzari and “The Monkey” and “Orphan Black” star Tatiana Maslany have begun principal photography on romantic comedy “Any Other Night,” directed by Dutch helmer Michiel Ten Horn from a script by Patrick Whistler.
The international coproduction comes from producers Mike MacMillan of Lithium Studios, Sol Bondy of One Two Films, Erik Glijnis and Leontine Petit of Lemming Film and Karen Harnisch of Film Forge. International sales are handled by recently launched boutique French sales outfit Lucky Number.
The film takes place on the night of a crippling transit strike in Berlin, when two strangers are thrown together as their lives are falling apart. Sam (Kenzari) is a flailing cab driver, struggling to make it all work. Maggie (Maslany) is freshly dumped. But after loading all her worldly possessions into the back of Sam’s decaying van-cab, what should have been a simple fare becomes a wild,...

Do You Know Who Won The Tom Cruise Vs Lilo & Stitch Box Office Battle In 2002? (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Tom Cruise and Disney are bringing their own Barbenheimer this May with Mission: Impossible—The Final Reckoning and Lilo and Stitch. Their goal is just as ambitious, given that they not only have to “save” cinema yet again, thanks to a subpar year for Hollywood, but also squash the notion that audiences might be a tiny bit annoyed by sequels and remakes.
While Paramount Pictures and Disney are crossing fingers that the box office receipts of the eighth Mission: Impossible film and the latest live-action remake of another animated classic do not devour each other, the startling truth is that such wishful thinking is futile. What’s more, the evidence is not even lying further than, well, Lilo and Stitch and Tom Cruise themselves.

Every now and then, directors and stars will confirm a popular fan theory, as when Stan Lee turned out to be a Watcher in the MCU and that the peddler in Aladdin was actually Genie. (And we’re not entirely unconvinced that the dad from Home Alone wasn’t a mobster…) Well we can add Jeff Bridges to the list, as he’s a firm believer in the circulated fan theory that Donny wasn’t real in The Big Lebowski. He even has the evidence to really tie it together.
As part of his tour with The Big Lebowski, Bridges said that Donny (Steve Buscemi) was never really there. And for whatever argument you have against it, Bridges has a counter that he thinks holds weight. “He’s a figment of Walter’s imagination… And the last few times I’ve seen the movie, I’ve run that theme and it kind of works,...

According to AMC Theatres, the latest Disney live-action remake clocks in at 1 hour 48 minutes (108 min). Compared to the original's brisk 85-minute runtime, the new Lilo & Stitch will be about 25% longer, meaning that fans can probably expect to see a mixture of new material and reimagined scenes from the animated original in the live-action remake. This runtime difference isn't too surprising, given that this isn't the first time Disney has padded out the runtimes of its live-action remakes, with 2017's Beauty and the Beast (129 minutes vs. 84 minutes), 2019's Aladdin (128 minutes vs. 90 minutes), and 2024's The Little Mermaid (135 minutes vs. 87 minutes) some of the more glaring examples of the studio stretching the story of the original.

What do you expect to get from the fountain? The answer could only be youth – unless you’re starring in the new Guy Ritchie movie, in which case there’s something more at play. Apple has released the newest trailer for Ritchie’s Fountain of Youth, starring John Krasinski and Natalie Portman who head out on an adventure as part of a family legacy.
The latest trailer for Fountain of Youth comes just a few weeks off of the first one, which, as is the case here, feels like some sort of expansion on the National Treasure franchise. While that’s not necessarily a bad thing and seeing what Guy Ritchie can do with some globe-trotting set pieces might be fun, there are some serious skeptics about the whole thing, particularly how it just doesn’t feel like a Guy Ritchie movie. But we’ll hold off complete judgment until...

Good Night and Good Luck, starring George Clooney, broke its own record for highest weekly gross for a play, bringing in $3.9 million last week, up close to $100,000 from when it broke the record the prior week, and playing to more than 100 percent capacity.
The ticket price for the play creeped up slightly to $309.77 from $303.40 the prior week.
The play was the highest grossing show in the industry last week, even as the popular shows Aladdin, Wicked and The Lion King played nine performances in an effort to capture the spring break crowds, rather than the typical eight. Wicked was the second highest earner on Broadway with $3.3 million, followed by Othello with $3.1 million, The Lion King with $2.9 million and Glengarry Glen Ross, starring Kieran Culkin, Bill Burr and Bob Odenkirk, with $2.3 million.
Othello, starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Denzel Washington, continues to have the top ticket price on Broadway, at $376.03 last week.

Broadway had what appears to be its best non-holiday (Christmas and New Year) week ever last week, with major hits like Good Night, and Good Luck, Glengarry Glen Ross, Othello and longrunners The Lion King, Wicked and Aladdin helping push the total box office figure to $50,874,940 for the week ending April 20.

Contributing to the big tally were special nine-performance weeks from The Lion King, Wicked and Aladdin.

When discussing the films of Walt Disney Animation Studios from the 21st century, "Meet the Robinsons" is often overlooked. That is a shame, because it is one of the studio's most underrated films, telling a sincere sci-fi coming-of-age story filled with equal parts laughter and thoughtfulness. Although the film was a box office disappointment, grossing $170.5 million over a budget of $150 million, it received generally positive reviews from critics. It has also garnered some notoriety online, with fans of the film who were children when it hit theaters 18 years ago, now revisiting it and in some cases, sharing it with their children.
"Meet the Robinsons" showcased an exciting sci-fi world, and given its prominent use of time travel, utilized clever story mechanics to explore different eras in time, particularly the year 2037, which, *gulp,* we are closer to now than we are to 2007. Crucially though, Tom Cruise and this particular Disney character have already opened against each other in cinemas once before. And it’ll happen again on 23rd May 2025, when Paramount’s Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning and Disney’s Lilo & Stitch remake both have their first frame in US cinemas. Deadline reports that both films are tracking for $100 million-plus openings over the Memorial Day weekend.

Among the most memorable moments in film history, many have come from actors you never see on screen. They are voice-over performers with some as huge movie stars and others are folks whose names you don't know well -- but they have in common a dedication of getting their character right and the skill to pull it off.
Although there have been occasional rumblings in the awards world about the possibility of a particularly celebrated voice-over performance becoming an Oscar nominee -- there was some talk of Robin Williams for "Aladdin" in 1992 and Scarlett Johansson for "Her" in 2013 -- no voice artist has ever received an Academy Award nomination for their performance. One possible reason is that most voice performances appear in animated films, where acting rarely receives its due. But several of the most memorable voice-overs have been in dramas or adventure films, several of which made our list.

"Ohana means family," and Memorial Day Weekend means mountains of moolah for Disney's upcoming Lilo & Stitch. The live-action reimagining of the 2002 animated film is sharing the holiday frame with none other than Tom Cruise’s Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning. However, that hasn’t dampened the long-range box office forecast predicted for director Dean Fleishcer Camp's take on the lovable Lilo and snarky Stitch, which is trending toward a $100+ million opening weekend, according to Quorum.
Unlike Disney’s controversial reimagining of Snow White, which stars Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot, Lilo & Stitch won’t have any trouble breaking the $100 million barrier over the three-day period to say nothing of how well it will perform over the full four-day holiday weekend. Snow White only brought in $42.2 million during its debut back in March, and the film has only made a worldwide total of $170.4 million in over three weeks of release.

From 1989 to 1999, the Disney Renaissance was in full swing. Beginning with "The Little Mermaid" and concluding with "Tarzan," the 10 films Walt Disney Animation Studios produced during that time marked a critically and commercially successful resurgence for the studio. The studio had previously struggled in the 18 years following Walt Disney's death in 1966, with films such as "The Black Cauldron" undergoing massive production issues and bombing at the box office. The success of the Disney Renaissance coincided with the expanding home video market, and direct-to-video sequels to some of the studios' biggest hits were produced, with "Aladdin," "Beauty and the Beast," and "The Lion King" among them. By the 2000s, direct-to-video sequels for "Pinocchio," "Dumbo" and "The Aristocats" were also in development, but were ultimately scrapped when John Lasseter took over as Chief Creative Officer of all of Disney Animation in 2006.

Has Snow White’s box office impacted Tangled?(Photo Credit –Instagram/Prime Video)
Be it the controversies marring the film or the general dislike towards the leading star Rachel Zegler or even the antagonist Gal Gadot’s controversial beliefs, all of it has had a major impact on Snow White. The movie, which was released in March this year, has been a big box office flop and the viewers are absolutely not happy with it.
This has affected more than just the film though. Disney has noted the fan reactions and have made a big decision regarding another live-action film which was in production. Tangled is one of the most popular animated films of Disney but the failure of Snow White has put a damper on the future of the Tangled live-action adaptation and here’s everything we know about it.

There's always something fascinating about the phenomenon of late-stage sequels. Filmmakers will sometimes wait decades after a film is released to make a follow-up, which only proves that the original has either retained its cultural clout or somehow gained more traction in the mass consciousness over time. It's easy to see why, in 1985, Walter Murch decided to make a sequel to 1939's "The Wizard of Oz" called "Return to Oz." It had been about 46 years since the original had been released, but "The Wizard of Oz" had — and has — remained one of the most famous movies of all time. A sequel would merely tap into the perpetual affection American audiences have for the film.
And, of course, some long-in-the-tooth sequels are merely a matter of timing, interest, and commitment. Why were there over ten years between "Toy Story 2" (1999) and "Toy Story 3" (2010)? No other reason than that the studio was working on other things.

Now, the House of Mouse is taking the lovable alien creature and flexing on some of their acquired properties in the new poster. This time, Stitch chews on a Pixar ball with some disheveled items from Aladdin, Star Wars, Marvel Studios, The Avengers and even 20th Century Fox in a wink-wink reference. The caption reads, “There’s one in every family.” The new adaptation is set to hit theaters on May 23, 2025.
Disney’s live-action Lilo & Stitch stars Maia Kealoha as Lilo in reimagining the mouse-eared studio’s 2002 animated classic. Other players include Zach Galifianakis, Billy Magnussen, Tia Carrere, Courtney B. Vance, Sydney Agudong, and Chris Sanders...

Disney has hit pause on development of a live-action version of its animated hit “Tangled,” an individual with knowledge told TheWrap. The move comes in the wake of the studio’s latest live-action remake, “Snow White,” bombing at the box office with just $70 million domestic after two weeks in theaters — a far cry from the $174 million opening weekend of “Beauty and the Beast” in 2017 and $92 million opening weekend of “Aladdin” in 2019.
Michael Gracey, the filmmaker behind “The Greatest Showman” and this year’s Robbie Williams biopic “Better Man,” was attached to direct from a script by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (“Thor: Love and Thunder”).
Released in 2010 and directed by Byron Howard and Nathan Greno, “Tangled” was a twist on Rapunzel and marked the beginning of a creative resurgence at Walt Disney Animation Studios. The film grossed nearly $600 million worldwide.

Rapunzel is rolling back up her hair.
Tangled, Disney’s live-action reimagining of its 2010 animated film focused on the Brothers Grimm fairy tale heroine, has been put on pause, according to studio insiders.
The project had been in active development, with The Greatest Showman helmer Michael Gracey on board to direct and a script by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Thor: Love and Thunder, Do Revenge).
The pause occurs in the wake of the rather underwhelming release of Disney’s latest live-action adaptation, Snow White. The movie has grossed only $69 million domestically and $145 million worldwide on a production budget of $270 million (the budget inflated due to the 2023 labor strikes). The film was plagued by controversial headlines from the start due to casting and creative choices and then into its press tour due to social media posts from star Rachel Zegler. But Snow White didn’t fare well with the critics nor audiences,...

Guy Ritchie has always been a prolific filmmaker, but now he's treating his fans to many productions. In 2024, Ritchie premiered several productions, including the Netflix hit series The Gentlemen, a spin-off of his 2019 film of the same name, and the action film The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare.
2025 continues to be Guy Ritchie-filled. Following the release of MobLand, a star-studded gangster series that Richie directed, he has another project coming up soon: Fountain of Youth. The Indiana Jones-style adventure film stars John Krasinski and Natalie Portman, and it has just released its first trailer and set a release date for May 23, per Apple TV+.
Ritchie might be known for his comedic gangster films, but he has experience with other popular IPs, as he helmed the two Sherlock Holmes films starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law, as well as Disney's live-action remake of Aladdin, which has a sequel in the works.

Back in 2023, we heard that director/actor Dexter Fletcher (Rocketman) was set to take the helm of a film called Fountain of Youth for Skydance Media… then, just ten months later, it was revealed that Fountain of Youth would be directed not by Fletcher, but by his Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels director Guy Ritchie. The project has since made its way through production, aiming for a May 23 release through Apple TV+ – and with that date right around the corner, the trailer has just dropped online! You can check it out in the embed above.
Scripted by James Vanderbilt, whose credits include Zodiac, The Amazing Spider-Man, and the recent Scream sequels, Fountain of Youth follows two estranged siblings who partner on a global heist to find the mythological Fountain of Youth. While it's one thing for IMDb to alert its users about Snow White being review-bombed by individuals who might not have the purest intentions, it's another thing altogether for this dislike to be reflected in the film's Rotten Tomatoes score. As more professional reviews come in, Snow White's official score on the aggregator website continues to plummet. The mega-budget film had never experienced life in the "fresh" zone, but it's now dangerously close to being among the lowest-rated live-action remakes that Disney has ever produced.
Snow White's Rt score now sits at a "rotten" 40%, down three points from where it was heading into this past weekend. This comes mere days after IMDb alerted its users that it had noticed unusual voting patterns for the movie, which has been at the center of a controversy for months. Comments made by star Rachel Zeglerabout Israel's occupation of Palestine attracted significant backlash directed at her,...

After a disappointing first week in theaters worldwide, Disney's mega-budget Snow White remake finally passed its first global box office milestone this weekend. But the film's massive production costs are coming in the way of its success. Coupled with all the bad press that it has been facing in recent weeks, Snow White is already being written off as a massive misfire for the Mouse House. Snow White debuted with just over $40 million in its first weekend domestically but fell by nearly 70% in its sophomore frame, confirming Disney's worst fears: it has no chance of staging a comeback.
With around $65 million domestically and another $76 million from overseas markets, the film's cumulative global haul now stands at $143 million. This is around half of its reported $250 million-plus production costs. Going by the rule of thumb, the film would need to gross at least $500 million worldwide to break even, but this seems like...

A harrowing first week of release has ended on a bit of a positive note for Disney's Snow White, which is prepping for further setbacks in the coming days. The mega-budget tent pole opened to mixed reviews last week, on the back of a raging controversy surrounding its two stars, Rachel Zeglerand Gal Gadot, and its perceived changes to the original film. The movie generated around $50 million at the domestic box office, coming in vastly under expectations. Snow White took a massive 77% hit on its second Friday, as it prepares to hand over its box office crown to this week's new challenger, Jason Statham's A Working Man.
That being said, the film's $3.7 million domestic haul on Friday was enough to push it past the $100 million mark at the global box office. This would be a cause for celebration, but considering how poorly the film has done so far, it's probably too little too late.
