The film's editor, Peter Ettinger, created the language and performs the high-pitched squeaking vocals for the Smallfoot (known as "smallfoot gibberish").

With the exception of production company credit, there are no opening credits, and the title doesn't appear on-screen until the end. There is also a brief scene about one third of the way through the ending credits.
In Australia; the film was passed uncut with an PG rating for brief mild coarse language. The filmmakers then opted to remove the language in the film in order to obtain a G classification.
