| Not much of an end in itself, but certainly food for thought.
It seems a bit churlish to be negative about this film. It is an intimate, if heavily stylised, story about something very visceral for so many people who have to deal with societal pressures that require them to lead "double" lives. "Daniel" (Jamie Bacon) is a successful, good looking, lad who has a secret - one which after years and years of repression is forcing it's way to the surface. After a night on the town - which he barely remembers - his true nature is finally given the oxygen it has been starved of for most of his young lifetime. It's a good looking piece; as is a convincing Bacon, but it is all just a bit too shallow for me. Much of the surrealism and artistry presumes a comprehension of what "Daniel" is going through - one that the audience might not possess. It's also just a touch too introspective with little to make you empathise with him on any sort of personal level. That said, though, it does clearly signify that successful and gorgeous people are not immune from the same pressures and stigma as others less aesthetically fortunate!. Good soundtrack, too.
