First time watch awesome movie Act is good by all acter.
  • Everywhere I have seen negative reviews about this film but still I can't find a reason to hate this film.A action packed entertainer.
  • I am writing this review on seeing the movie and also as a vijay fan. This is vijay 60th movie which expects more from him . Did the expectation fulfilled. Vijay himself sets a boundary line for himself as action comedy message now a days . But in this movie it is overloaded. The story line is Weak and the story telling is also weak . Vijay give a chance to bharathan for second time but it is disappointment only . In the later movies he fights for farmers and now he has fight for students and studies . In this movie many things were told about he is doing dual role and he is a college student but both of them is not true . In fact heroine is studying in college and he takes the problem of her and fights for the villain . Director has only focused on vijay role and other character were not established . Most of the scenes were only in set that is also not good . Music director has bigger role to play but only one song and theme music is OK and also he totally lose his scope in bgm . Editing work is not so special . The only good thing in the movie is fight sequences . Stunt director has worked very hard and it is really good . Director's dialogues are not so good . Last but not least if this movie has directed with different director or bharathan should had concentrated more it would have been a decent movie . Vijay has tried to do different in puli movie but the execution is poor in this movie the story is simple and the execution is also simple . I hope he will do good script with proper execution
  • #NO SPOILERS ****** Right from the movie announcement, cast, first look, teaser, trailer and songs the expectation for this flick was moderate, which was obvious and I can that the say the movie exactly matched it, except for the fact that it had a good content and few unexpected mass scenes. Like #Vedalam this movie also had all the qualities that it should have been released around 2005 to 2010 and not in this era. Yes an Agmark mass commercial Masala with good scenes then and there. Yet another One man army movie where Ilaya Thalapathy Vijay carried the whole movie right from the beginning. Movie had a strong plot but a weak execution in the second half. Director Bharathan is very good in paper work as he comes up with good / different stories ( first ATM, now Bairavaa ) and he had penned the dialogues for films like Ghilli and Veeram. When it comes to executing the same on screen, he fails. But there is an improvement compared to ATM ( it has to be, right :P ?). The first 20 or 30 minutes was very dull and kinda boring, even though many claim that the cricket fight was good, I don't feel that way.The actual story started then and it was in a good pace followed by a perfect interval block (Semma Mass!!!!) with Varlam Varlam Va " Bairavaa" BGM!! . Second half continued at a considerable pace by reminding us movies like Sivakasi (film), Veeram etc loses it by the uninspiring cat and mouse game between the hero and villain when nearing towards the Pre climax sequences. Then ends up in a normal climax. The reason for losing the pace was the placement of the scenes in the second half like a good scene followed by a bad scene , then again a good scene followed by a very bad scene. This movie would have been much better if some portions were trimmed. Sathish's one liner comedy helped here and there whereas Thambi Ramaiah was a great Mokkai. Keerthi Suresh as usual didn't have any scope. Another notable negative point is Mr. Santhosh Narayanan for the songs and BGM. 65 to 70% of the movie had "Varlam Varlam Va " Bairavaa" BGM and I doubt whether the remaining part had any RR. Particularly there was fight scene between Vijay and Daniel Balaji with a strong sentimental BGM (WTH ?? ) . This reminds me of the BGM in Kabali fight scene where Thalaivar rescues Radhika Apte in a BGM of absolute silence!! Also the placements of the songs in second half was bad. Papa Song visuals was good with a village temple background and good dance number. To conclude, if you are a neutral and who doesn't have any expectation and doesn't dive deep into anything. This movie would entertain you. For others except the fans, might or might not work out. On a box office point of view , there are certain movies which became hits even earned negative/Mixed reviews at the time of its release with various deciding factors. Examples ( Maan Karate, Maari, Vedalam , Theri etc) the first two due to the Pre release buzz it created and low budgets, the latter ones mainly for the few mass scenes which had been received well mainly in B and C centers even though the content wasn't good enough. So this movie has a very high chance of joining that list! #StrictlyMyview!!!
  • The whole story revolves around Vijay, his screen presence is the biggest plus. The action sequences, emotional performances, romantic part and being funny he carries the entire movie on his shoulders. The only sideline would be his voice modulation at some places might seem artificial.

Keerthi Suresh as the lead pair has done her role to the perfection. She doesn't have much screen presence but has utilized her time span well. As a homely Nelai girl she excels in look as well as acting. The comedy track by Rajender and Sathish were peppered here and there. But one might feel few scenes should have been trimmed. Jagapathi Babu, Thambi Ramaiah and Daniel Balaji have put their experience into action, which worked well.

Though cast has done well, the screenplay falls flat. The first half was engaging with good scenes here and there to keep the audience engaged. But the second half falls flat. The one bold step by the director was to keep Vijay away from the much predictable flashback, which is a rarity in Vijay's film. If you go to a masala entertainer you should be ready to accept logical loop holes. The same happens here, especially in the second half the movie becomes predictable and finishes with less excitement.

The savior would be the interval block fight scene, pre climax fight scene and few others. Vijay has energized the action scenes and his fans will go crazy. The cricket fight bring in Whistles for sure.
  • Bairavaa (2017): After the super success of Theri (surprisingly) Vijay returns with yet another commercial potboiler called Bairavaa. I always have a doubt on Vijay's stardom because apart of his amazing dance skills, his acting is strictly meant for his fans. The same applies to his movies (except Kaththi and Thuppaki),which are only meant for his fans. The same applies to this utter rubbish Bairavaa.

Plot: Bairavaa (Vijay) meets Malarvizhi (Keerthy Suresh), a medical college student, at a wedding and falls in love. When Bairavaa realizes that Malarvizhi is embroiled in a bitter legal battle with the corrupt chairman of her medical college, he promptly becomes her knight in shining armor. He accompanies her to her hometown in Tirunelveli to meet real estate tycoon Periyakannu (Jagapati Babu), who is the town's biggest bully.Periyakannu owns most of the business establishments and educational institutions in Tirunelveli. He and his accomplice Kottaiveeran (Daniel Balaji) rule the town with an iron hand. His medical college is a sham with no facilities and Malarvizhi and her friends, who have paid a lot of money for their seats, are fighting for their rights. The flashback shows the rape and death of Malarvizhi's friend Vaishali (Aparna Vinod), another student, who has sold her home to get a seat in the college. So how does Bairavaa save Malar and fight against PK forms the rest of the story?

    Plus Points:

1)Flashback: A decent flashback is the only saving grace of Bairavaa.Though it has regular scenes, the setup in medical college and the problems faced by medical students in private colleges with no facilities are showcased well enough.

2)Varlaam Vaarlam Vaa Bairavaa track: Though it has bit Kaththi theme touch to it,still it felt good during fight sequences. But they overused in almost every fight scene which felt so repetitive.

    Minus Points:

The director attempts to highlight corruption in medical colleges and the plight of students, who have no assurances even after shelling out huge sums of money for a seat. But the plot is lost in the director's over enthusiasm to portray Vijay as an all-powerful Messiah.

Bairavaa has typical outdated screenplay which tests our patience. The fun part is that they have used scenes even from the decade earlier movies like Sye,Mudhalvan,Temper,Dabangg etc.

Even fights have no freshness in it.In few fights, they have used Thuppaki and Sarrainodu bits.

Music is total disaster. What happened to Santhosh Narayan?

So,Bairavaa has all the ingredients to become a huge hit only if it had released a decade earlier. But now it became overly outdated.

    My rating 4.5/10
  • Warning: Spoilers
Bairavaa is a typical Vijay movie with 4 songs, comedy, stunts, romance etc. So expecting something new from it would be unfair and it should be strictly seen as a commercial movie. But anyway film has a theme of good social relevance, but the problem is here we can see a lot of compromise for adding commercial elements. If this film was directed by Murugadoss it would have surely become another Katthi or Thuppakki. As expected, Vijay is the soul of the movie and he does what he is at best. But in one or two scenes, he seemed to overact a little which was annoying to watch...he was so natural and adorable in theri, but here something is lacking in him, may be one reason is that wig. Varlam bgm is stunning and it perfectly suits Vijay.Keerthy suresh looks very cute and beautiful, and her expressions are so attractive and she did justice to her role. Aparna Vinod has a short role but crucial in the film. There are lots of Villains and many looked like helpless...main villain Jagapathi babu is good, but i found Daniel balaji's role much sharper than him. Stunts are good, cricket fight and climax stunt have been intelligently executed. Overall, it is a decent commercial thriller which can be watched at least once and lot better than the other recent movies of the same kind.

even vijay fans(even vijay himself) cant watch this!

Things which should had been replaced/bad in the movie, vijay costume and style, vijay's voice/style of speaking, songs, director, comedians/comedy plot, sub plots. Comedy is pathetic, but the scene where vijay is chased by men with petrol bombs was funny. The theme music is annoying ,dont know why a fox howls in between the theme music. The movie is childish too, i mean bad people becoming good because of kind actions, what is this a fairy tale story for 5 year olds.

Overall a boring movie. Get a original DVD and use it if you have sleeping disorder. You will fall asleep even before the movie ends.

The movie knew what it was - A Mass film. It wasn't a stirring, cinematic spectacle that will captivate movie-lovers for generations. It was a movie meant to pander to Vijay's fans and give casual watchers who don't expect a masterpiece something to watch for 2.5 hours and entertain them. And I think the movie did it's role perfectly. Vijay hit all the chords - Women's sentiment, family sentiment, comedy, style, action, working against social injustice, fighting for the underprivileged and suppressed etc. He's attended to almost every major aspect of society which is what a mass movie should do. Will such movies help the Indian film industry grow in quality? No. Will it bring the money? Definitely. Should more mass movies such as this be encouraged? No. But they are an integral part of the film industry and the majority of people like it that way, so I don't think that will change. Mass Masada flick.. can't get better than this. From the start to end top notch Vijay style is superb.. definitely its not Vijay's best performance..but For a mass Masada movie like this, No one can beat Vijay.. sure-shot hit. Gun Scene , Court scene,Cricket fight scene, Nillayo song, Climax fight scene..etc. and that court scene contains full of social issues as usual Vijay conveys social MSG through his film....Vijay gave his best.. planned to go again for the cinemas..
  • Warning: Spoilers
Bairavaa is an action entertainer that talks about a daring debt collector who ends up fighting a hard-core educational field criminal. It is expected to be an unapologetic mass movie that can only be enjoyed and not analyzed.

    Characters:

Vijay: Yet another energetic performances. He is the man of the masses

Keerthy Suresh: As Vijay's love interest. A decent performance by the cute girl, where she played a village girl from Tirunelveli.

Jagapathi Babu and Daniel Balaji: Good performance from both

Sathish: Couldn't not manage to evoke laughter like his previous ventures.

Music: Santhosh Narayanan is known for some experimented music, but in Bairavaa the songs reminds you of some other music directors. Nillayo reminds you of a typical D.Imman song, although the song is a masterpiece. The Varlaam Vaa bgm gives you goosebumps in the fight scenes, especially the interval block, but the bgm gets repetitive. Papa papa was unnecessary in the movie, slows down the pace of the movie.

    Other technicians:

    • Cinematography: Sukumar has shown Vijay in dynamic angles and it has elevated his mass aspects adequately.

    • Editing: Nice

    • Stunts: Pakka mass!! Hats off to Anl Arasu

Overall, Bairavaa is an enjoyable action entertainer, but it becomes boring at some places. First half was pakka, except from the lengthy flashback. Second half revolved around a "cat and mouse" game between Vijay and Jagapathi Babu. There were some good scenes. The movie had a good story and message, but the poor screenplay let down the movie a bit

    Verdict: Above average
  • NO SPOILERS.............. its about a common man who decides to stand with his lover against a big shot for a murder and running a medical college with no basic facilities. no comedy scenes in second half but those in first half were good. plot twists were spotted in very few places but were somewhat good, especially proposal, income tax ride, petrol bunk murder attempt, escape sequence in climax were good. But the rest, hrrrrrrr....! overacted scenes just made it even worse. and vijay kept changing his tone and pitch all over the film that was a bit irritating. continuity between successive scenes are missing. Simply, they wasted a good story! 4/10
  • From the days of the teaser release itself i know its a mass action movie. So i expected only good fight scenes, vijay's dance moves , some jokes here and there and romance as well. But i did not expect a good social message from this movie. So that was a plus with the expected commercial elements being fulfilled. keerthy looked so good in songs . Her expressions are doing justice to her role and she looks as a perfect match for vijay. Vijay's mannerisms are too good. In nillayo song , his acting is too good. Sathish was also good , but he was kind of acting childish, instead of doing comedian role. He is trying to be modern day senthil, i guess. In villain role, i don't think even daniel balaji's role was string enough against vjiay. That is a little let down. Because the story is weaker in that villain portion. Every villain is easily dealt with. As i didn't expect anything new , i wasn't disappointed. But some people may get disappointed.

    Thanks for reading:)

Bairava may be the targeted film for Vijay fans but it holds the Pongal holidays so it does also have the responsibility to satisfy the Pongal movie fans since there is no other big movies are releasing on this occasion.

Crux: The movie is all about the irregularities and the violations of PK Medical college against the norms of a proper Govt. authorized institution. The story deals with the murder case filed by Keerthi Suresh(PK college student) as her friend Aparna, who was raped and lost her life between this chaos. The Chairman of PK college Jagapathi Babu is obviously against her action to keep up his college name. So, he kept her in a trap. But, Keerthi incidentally meets Vijay(a Bank agent) explains her problems. Vijay offers his help to Keerthi as he loves her. Then, Vijay fights against Jagapathy and the rest had its old-fashioned endings.

    What worked

Very few. The theme song was entertaining as it was well placed with the action scenes. Interval block fight scene was good. The movie was colorful. See I am just cherry picking. There is nothing much in the movie.

    What not worked

There are many. EXTREMELY PREDICTABLE MOVIE. But you have to completely blame the Director. He just underestimated the audience knowledge of cinema. The story line is seriously old fashioned and a very regular thin line. Amateurish and Completely a disaster screenplay. Songs were out-placed. Writing (dialogues) was so cringy. Editing was handicapped. Songs were poor. BGM was noisy. Comedy scenes were unnatural and compelling. There are many characters are unworthy and not used properly. The movie was lengthy and so boring to watch in many scenes.

    Trivia (honest felt)

Actor Vijay was never looked like a seasoned actor. For a man who acted in 60 movies, was awful to watch him on screen. This guy had horrible voice modulations. It was rubbish and over acted to the core. Why does he survive on stupid Punch dialogues? No idea. Does he know that the movie industry has moved from MGR Movie templates? Even the former Rajinikanth has moved long back. Very very insecure and poor choice of script from him. The other poor thing in this movie was his messy hair. ( Sorry to say that looked it uglier than the Trump's one :P)

I would not recommend this movie to my friends and well wishers. Waste of money and precious time.

    Warning: Spoilers
Could not complete whole movie due to lack of interest. From the very start it seemed boring. First fight scene done it for me. Vijay is a very talented actor and the last movie Theri was a great movie. Even my friend who is not Asian watched this with me in cinema and loved it.

I saw the youtube trailer of Bairavaa before the movie release and already knew right away this movie was going to spill trouble. The make up on Vijay was bad compared to Theri. No story. Very cheesy and lazy. The directors and script makers are trying to ruin this amazing actor.

It was a waste of money to view this in cinema as I could of simply seen any other movie. I still wanted to watch for the sake of Vijay.
  • This movie was made for the fans. The teaser and trailer made that clear. So for the people complaining I ask what did you expect? This is a masala movie. The hero will kick ass and win the girl's heart in the end and along the way will fight, dance, sing, say one liners and even try his hand at comedy. For the information of those high IQ critics who are rubbishing this movie, there is a market out there for movies like this. There are still people living in towns and villages who want just to be entertained and do not want to see their own realistic lives shown to them. You might have noticed vijay's movies don't normally get a clean release, his enemies out number his friends and inspite of this and movies like sura he still is one of if not the star that comes to your mind when it comes to kollywood commercial cinema. Bairava needs a lot of editing. If they had done that properly I think it would have been as entertaining as some of his recent hits.
  • This director, I don't think he would ever get another chance to work with any top actors after this film. One of the worst films I have recently. If you are a lead actor's fan, then you might enjoy it for your loyalty for him, but definitely this is not for everyone. Everyone means, this film made especially for the Indian audience, which looks more like an utter Telugu style commercial film than what I know about Tamil films. I watched it mainly for Keerthy, as I haven't seen her any films so far. This is her big leap to the big actors league, but not quite perfect entry. Except it decently did at the box office.

As usual, like any big lead star's films, the songs and the preferring details on heroism destroyed the story flow. Yeah, the story does not take the lead with twist and turns and emotions and romance, but it's the lead actor/character who controlled everything according to his style. This MASS culture was started by Rajinikanth, yet he has changed with the film 'Kabali' to the international standards when it comes to the story narration. These stars below him are yet to learn that tactics. It could have worked better if it was a Tollywood film with their stars.

There are lots of unrealistic scenes in the film and stunts are the top among them. The character PK was almost like the negative role Adisheshan from the film 'Sivaji'. The end twist was unbelievable. I mean not in a good sense. Very silly and which makes the earlier development in the story was invalid. I was stunned after the hero committed to bring justice, he changed his approach at the end. That was not a twist, but the writer did not know how to solve the puzzle, so he messed up at the end. Sorry guys, Anytime I would recommend Indian parallel films which are small budget films, have less known actors and directors rather than these stupid masala films.

    3/10
  • THIS MOVIE IS REALLY ENJOYABLE.. VIJAY PLAYS A AGENT CHARACTER NAMED BAIRAVAA.. THIS INTRO SEEN OF BAIRAVAA & CRICKET FIGHT ARE REALLY SUPER... ALL THE FIGHT SEENS & MASS DILOUGES ARE REALLY MASS.. KEERTHY SURESH DANIEL BALAJI ALSO PERFORM WELL.. AN COMPLETELY ENTARTAIMENT MOVIE WITH POWERPACKED INTRO INTERVAL & MASSIVE CLIMAX SEEN... AND THE BGM OF BAIRAVAA IS ALSO A PAKKA MASS BGM.. THE ONLY NEGATIVES I FEEL IN THIS MOVIE SOME VFX BACKGROUND WHEN VIJAY IS RIDING BIKE IS WORST.. AND ALSO VIJAY ' S HAIRSTYLE IN THIS MOVIE IS NOT MATCH TO HIM.. I SUGGESTED EVERYONE ONE TO WATCH THIS MOVIE.. A COMPLETE ENTARTAIMENT.
  • The movie was not good. The story is good. But the way they presented in the movie was very boring and bad. The fight scenes in the movie was mass and entertaining. Songs also not so good in the movie, only the theme song and its bgm was only good. Comedy in the movie was also somewhat good. The villain acting was very bad in the movie.

It's really hard to say that the first Thalapathy film in which I got bored... Its watchable only for Thalapathy... While in the top, he should avoid bharatan and neason like directors... (My opinion)
  • Let me start by saying that I'm getting very much used to the same type of climax which is a common thing in Vijay movies now (Thupakki being an exception to some extent). There is not much role in the movie for heroine. Same old story, Hero mass entry, entry song, villain enters, romance, fight, again song, again fight and finally hero kills villain or transforms him. Nothing really much in the movie for anyone apart from hardcore Vijay fans. First half is a little better compared to the second half which becomes very predictable. Music is good at times but boring for most parts. All in all I would strongly advice anyone from wasting their money on this movie unless you are a die-hard Vijay fanatic. The fact that this movie is being replaced in many of the cinema screens across the city with movies like Dhruvangal Pathinaaru which had released earlier than this movie due to the demand of good stories among the Tamil audience.
  • Warning: Spoilers
The worst movie of 2017 until now.Poor direction first of all,the use of vfx Sucks in this movie.Second Vijay's acting he is spoiling his own reputation by doing films like this.Comedy on the other side is not up to the reach.A complete disaster and time consuming and money wasting film by Bharthan and co.Theme song,Keerthi are the only thing that matters in this movie. This is mass for the fans and a bomb for cinema lovers. And the 100 Cr verdict was FAKE!!!. It doest even touch 80cr in 4 days. Overall Verdict : Flop Rating : 0.5/5 and 1/10.Acting has the major role in a film in this film it is missing.Actors like vikram, Suriya are selecting different movies but in the other hand vijay is just spoiling his Carrier as a actor.
  • I somehow happened to enter in the theatre which i still believe was my own fault. There ws no other good unwatched movies that time. Trailer was also disappointing. I don't hate vijay, since i liked some of his recent films, and i don't love him either. I had no expectation and still I really regret for wasting money for such a bad movie. There is nothing new in it. An ancient story which has been the story of almost all vjay films, except a few. Not only vijay, there are a million tamil films with the almost exact theme. I don't understand why vijay selected this film comparing to his other recent films, which were so much better ones. I walked out of the theatre half an hour after the interval. boring boring and boring.
  • Nothing interesting, same old story, a villain a savior, one man army. Boring snoozefest
  • This movie is about a kind bank officer who gets in the way of a corrupted and ruthless businessman to bring out his immoral activities and during the process helps out a collage girl.

It's the same plot all over again the usual story for example there is a hero there is villain the hero wins at the end in the process he meets a girl the heroine and falls in love with her. The only thing I liked about this movie was the BGM and the action scenes. Vijay has to change his usual acting to do something different and unique because I bet the audience is bored with this kind of acting as he is being doing this from the movie Pokkiri. Keerthi has to do a lot to improve her acting skills. There were some serious scenes in this movie which can be made into funny GIF as it was all so overly done. Now speaking about the songs some were OK some were really bad especially the first song of this movie which was dragged for no reason none of the songs got pasted into us cause none of them were catchy. The movie itself was dragged in many places because if you fast forward the movie it is actually a one hour and fifty minutes movie but instead it was a two hour and forty minutes movie. The ending of this movie had something to do with the movie shooter and it was predictable.

NO I would not recommend people to watch this movie.

I accidentally watched this stupid asf movie and now i need eye bleach

Typical vijay movie, still no idea how he's a star. Save for ghilli, he hasn't got any bangers in his filmography (master was good, that's it)

Anyhow, it had this particular song (varlaam varlaam vaa) which is now one of my favourite songs. That's the reason i give this 2 stars. Otherwise 1 star for sure.

PLOT SUMMARY: hero fights many people, wins girl's heart, does social service, nitrous oxide subplot, assassination of ripoff Modi subplot, nuclear factory subplot, "education is very important!!", directed by Bharathan, credits roll.

Any suggestions for eye transplant or bleach recommendations will be helpful.
