I can't say that Bliss is a masterpiece, but I nonetheless found it entertaining and funny - despite the very grave turn of the events.

I won't classify it in my favourites and I don't think it's extremely memorable, but it's definitely worth the shot for a short entertainment. I found Bliss to be interesting from the begining to the end, leaving no gap whatsoever, and I was constantly thinking 'dude, what on Earth are you doing, and what are you going to do next?!'. So, yeah, not memorable but interesting, funny at times (I don't see this as an actual comedy) and entertaining nonetheless.
  • It's worthy of more than most reviews here are giving it in my opinion. Yes the main character is very un-likeable but it's got some potential and I've laughed here and there. I'll keep going with it for now

    Okay
It's listed as comedy, it isn't even a blackest comedy, it's an average drama
  • I have watched all 5 episodes so far, each one seems worse and I can actually see time slow down when this programme.

I have zero sympathy for the main character, and I'm starting to feel annoying with his tortured families as well. he's a bully, almost to point of mental torture.

This lacks any of the tact, humour and empathy required to turn a delicate and stressful situation into a comedy.

A complete waste of my Sky subscription fees...

I've now watched 5 episodes of this programme, it's not funny at all, just cringeworthy, you feel no sympathy for Andrew, just a cheating husband who will end up hurting his families.

    Rubbish
  • I enjoyed this program and think the bad reviews are but harsh. I thought it took some issues and made a good story. With a what wil happen next vibe. I think the only negative on this program is the fact it was labelled comedy. I would label this dark comedy drama possibly.
  • My one wish for this show is that Stephan Mangan is not a writer for it, as with previous work, especially Episodes, I have been blown away and chuckled a lot! Alas with this show, it could not be farther from that!

I think this has been billed wrongly, this is a family drama more than comedy, which is the problem, it tries to be light hearted but simply the subject matter is not, and this leads to very awkward scenes, not least of which is the restaurant scene in episode 1. It was not funny and actually I cringed at some parts and was slightly offended in places. But this seems to be Sky style programming now, push the boundaries and take the risk!

I did see the trailers and was confused how the subject matter would work, and the answer from the first episode is it doesn't, it is no fault of any of the actors, it is entirely (again of recent times) of the script writing, it just is not suitable for the genre. I won't be watching any more episodes, but then I am sure some will find this as acceptable entertainment!

I'm surprised so many people gave low ratings, love this show, makes you wonder what's going to happen next.
  • Well, I seem to be the dissenting voice here but I really enjoyed this black comedy and am really sad to think that there may not be a second series. Stephen Mangan is a brilliant actor and perfect for this role. All I can say to all the unhappy viewers, is lighten up, folks!!
  • Bliss makes the best out of its premise. I just finished rewatching it. It's definitely funny, like satire funny. It's not believable at all. Andrew is so jumpy that both of his partners should be well irritated with him by now. But, the ending was horrible.
  • If I could give this load of tosh a minus rating I would. In Australia we are being given half-hour episodes. I watched the first half hour and was seriously thinking about turning off, but kept going in the vain hope it would get better. It didn't. I gave the second half hour a go, against my better judgement, and gave up after ten minutes.

This is not a comedy, the jokes are stale and flat, and the subject matter demands a strong family drama. It could have been so much more, so much better. Mangan's dithery male act is beyond annoying, as is that dreadful floppy hairdo. How either of his women managed to stay with "Andrew" for more than five minutes is something I kept wondering about. He's one of the most annoying characters ever created.

Take my advice - don't waste your time.
  • Warning: Spoilers
I loved this little series, but I need to know what "The Plan" is! So please please please bring it back for one more season, at least! It didn't end with any sort of resolution. Please.
  • Great actors and actresses doing their best with a script that produces a show which irritating to watch. There Is so much wrong with the show I don't know where to begin! Basically, I find Stephen Mangan's character totally objectionable and uncomfortable to watch. The new angle with Chris and Chris ("Let's call her Chris, it's easy to remember it") is so cliched and over used it is unbelievable. I won't be watching any further episodes (Episodes, now there is a great comedy!) but before I go I have a question. Are you not allowed to leave rubbish in your car at Bristol Airport??? Why does he bag up his rubbish, and then transfer it to his other car where it is hidden, only to retrieve it and throw it back on the floor of the car he picked it up from? This question, for me, is the most interesting thing about this wretched programme!
  • What a terribly judged concept. Awful characters, terrible scripts, whoever gave the green light to this "comedy"?

    Wow
The was so far the other side of funny. It was tragic that actors of this caliber have stooped to accepting material of such incredibly poor quality. It would be an overstatement to say this was a waste of time.
  • Warning: Spoilers
I'm all for a joke but where to start - is this a comedy? A drama? It can't seem to make its mind up as to what it's trying to achieve and whilst I don't mind satirical comedy this is just appalling. The lead character is self indulgent and obsessed and he harm he causes to other people to hide his pathetic lies is not funny in the slightest. Never been more offended by a program before but I seriously hope sku don't commission another series. Zero sympathy or affinity for the lead character and I wish the script writers would write in an ending whereby this sorry pathetic excuse for a man is left by both his wives - poor script, poor all around...

Really enjoyed this show, was hoping for a second series!
  • Struggling to make sense of this programme, the main character is so hideous and twisted it over shadows any humour that may exist in this show. Poorly thought out and poorly delivered.

I found this comedy on Britbox and decided to give it a go as I think that Stephan Mangan is a good actor (I particularly liked him in The Split). The first episode was highly entertaining and funny. I am surprised at all the low scores.
  • Stephen Mangan is very talented and funny, and I had hoped this show would utilize his skills. It did not. The subject matter is more awkward and stressful to watch than funny. The director/creator David Cross is also generally funny in an off the wall kind of way but this show seems out of character for him. I like a little heightened tension in TV series but not from the start to the end of each episode.

You get Stephen Mangan, Heather Graham and John Gielgud to be in a show and you waste their time and ours with this?

Cringey, our family agreed to change to something else after 15 minutes!
  • If you're not sure how one "accidentally " becomes a bigamist, you're in good company as neither do the writers of 'Bliss'. I didn't so much as chuckle, let alone laugh, once in the three episodes I managed to endure.

    Neither funny nor entertaining.
  • There are way too many truly idiotic frustrating situations which the characters are too dim-witted to avoid or move through quickly. His continuous efforts to be obnoxious and rude are ridiculous.
  • Hoping there will eventually be a second series but given all the bad reviews somewhat doubtful. A bit meandering and I was easily distracted but overall worth the watch. Too bad it ended in a cliffhanger! Just puzzled why Britbox and reviewers think John Gielgud was in this program? He died in 2000. This program was originally broadcast in 2018! Gielgud's last TV appearance was in 1998...

I cringed my way through a few episodes of this. Completely unlikable character from Stephen Mangan. Just feel like slapping him from start to finish of every episode. Avoid this at all costs.
