Last November, we heard the heartbreaking news that genre icon Tony Todd had passed away at the age of 69. Thankfully, we still have some Todd performances to look forward to, as he had worked on several projects that were in post-production when he passed, including Final Destination: Bloodlines, which will be reaching theatres on May 16th. Todd reprises the role of mortician Bludworth, a role he previously played in Final Destination, Final Destination 2, and Final Destination 5 – and the first reactions to the film that have made their way online say the film not only delivers the awesome, creative, bloody deaths that you expect from one of these movies, but also stands as a beautiful tribute to Tony Todd. Several “first reaction” posts can be seen below.

Thunderbolts* arrives in theaters on Thursday, and the social media reactions thus far have been overwhelmingly positive (TV spots are already hailing it as the best MCU movie since Avengers: Endgame).
However, it's become all too commonplace for those adjective-filled X posts not to match the eventual reviews, so how is Thunderbolts* faring on Rotten Tomatoes now that the first reviews have been counted?
As we write this, Thunderbolts* has a 88% score on Rotten Tomatoes based on 113 reviews. As a result, the movie is now "Certified Fresh."
In terms of how this compares to other MCU movies, Thunderbolts* currently resides in the same ballpark as Avengers: Infinity War (85%) Doctor Strange (89%), Captain America: Civil War (90%), and Spider-Man: Far From Home (91%).
It's been a rocky few years for Marvel Studios on Rotten Tomatoes. An MCU movie receiving a "Certified Fresh" rating was once a given, but the Multiverse Saga has delivered three "Rotten" titles: Eternals,...

It sounds like we might be seeing a lot of Spider-Man next year. Depending on how the Marvel Cinematic Universe's releases play out in 2026, that could be true in more ways than one. Either way, Spidey will be back on the silver screen, and that is somehow still the second-biggest story for the McU's next chapter, as Avengers: Doomsday is the one getting the majority of the attention right now.
We know that Tom Holland will return as the webslinger in Spider-Man: Brand New Day but his Avengers: Doomsday involvement is unclear. The wall-crawler is rumored to feature in some capacity but reports claim that Holland's filming schedule might prevent him from filming any scenes directly. But the character might also be absent from the film as Spider-Man 4 will reportedly take place alongside the events of Doomsday.

Last year, Final Destination 6 (which is going by the title Final Destination: Bloodlines) finally, after years of development and a long year gap between sequels, made its way through production. Franchise producer Craig Perry previously let it be known that the film was aiming for a theatrical release in 2025, in time to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the release of the original film. It will even be on IMAX screens! It was recently confirmed that Final Destination: Bloodlines is set to reach theatres on May 16, 2025, and a teaser trailer and a full trailer (embedded above) have both been unveiled. The directing duo of Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, who previously directed the 2018 film Freaks (starring Emile Hirsch and Bruce Dern) and the 2019 live-action Kim Possible movie, were at the helm of this film – and during an interview with SFX magazine, Lipovsky said their hope is that the movie...

J.K. Simmons reprised the role of J. Jonah Jameson for Spider-Man: Far From Home's mid-credits scene after previously playing the Daily Bugle's Spidey-hating Editor-In-Chief in Sam Raimi's original trilogy, and returned to cause headaches for the wall-crawler in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Simmons has previously indicated that he will most likely be back as the bilious owner of the DailyBugle.net at some point, and Daniel Richtman is claiming to have confirmed his return for Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
This wouldn't exactly be a major surprise, although Brand New Day is shaping up to be a very different fourth solo outing for Spider-Man, with Peter Parker (Tom Holland) leaving his old life behind and starting college with a new group of supporting characters.

During Venom: The Last Dance's final battle, there was a brief mention of a soldier called "Thompson" who appeared to have his legs bitten off by a rampaging Xenomorph.
We've heard that the plan was for Venom 4 to be an Agent Venom movie with a new lead, with the threequel's post-credits scene strongly hinting that the Symbiote had survived. However, the movie only did so-so numbers at the box office and, when Kraven the Hunter flopped, Sony abandoned its slate of spin-offs.
In the comics, Flash Thompson lost his legs while fighting for the U.S. Army in the Middle East. The military later bonded him with the Venom Symbiote - giving him his legs back, in the process - but only for limited amounts of time, lest he risk being permanently bonded to the alien.

The Mandalorian creator and Iron Man director Jon Favreau has addressed a possible multiverse return as Foggy Nelson in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The versatile actor and filmmaker portrayed the character opposite Ben Affleck's Man Without Fear in 2003's Daredevil.
Favreau, who currently plays Happy Hogan in the MCU, discussed the prospect at this year's Star Wars Celebration with Cbr's Grae Drake. Asked if anyone at Marvel had talked to him about a multiverse return as Matt Murdock's closest confidant, Favreau responded, "That's right, I play a number [of Marvel characters]. Happy Hogan, Foggy. I was in with the other Daredevil [Charlie Cox] as Happy [in Spider-Man: No Way Home]. It's a lot to keep track of."
Though unlikely, Favreau reprising the role of Foggy cannot be completely ruled out and may hinge on Affleck's potential return as Daredevil in perhaps Avengers: Secret Wars. Jennifer Garner, who first appeared as Elektra Natchios in the 2003 Daredevil film,...

A decade later, Jon Bernthal is recounting how he and Tom Holland helped each other land their life-changing Marvel roles.
The Punisher star revealed that while working on their 2017 film Pilgrimage—preceding their upcoming reunion in Christopher Nolan‘s The Odyssey—he gave his young co-star a “note” that he thinks landed Holland the role of Spider-Man.
“We did a film about seven or eight years ago,” he said on Jimmy Kimmel Live. “That was where both Tom did his audition for Spider-Man and I did my audition for Punisher. We actually made each other’s audition tapes on that film.”
Although Holland was a teenager at the time, Bernthal recalled, “He had such focus and such belief, it was so beautiful. He would say, ‘I’m Spider-Man,’ I mean, he really believed he was going to get it. I was like ‘There’s probably a lot of people that want to be Spider-Man.

Ben Mendelsohn is known for playing layered characters such as the slimy Director Orson Krennic in Rogue One or the chilling crime lord in Animal Kingdom, and both are some of his most memorable roles.
But in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, his portrayal of Talos defied our expectations. We saw the shape-shifting Skrull leader first appear in Captain Marvel, and then his role expanded in Spider-Man: Far From Home and Secret Invasion.

However, the actor himself has some strong opinions about other Marvel characters, and his rant about the same is equally hilarious and shocking. Fans are even considering him as a possible casting choice for a major villain after his endearing views.

Jason Momoa’s association with the Dceu as Arthur Curry came to an end in 2023, following the release of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. What Did Joe Russo Say About Tom Holland Taking Over Rdj’s MCU Role? ( Photo Credit – Instagram; Flickr )
When Spider-Man: No Way Home hit theaters, Tom Holland wasn’t just swinging through the multiverse but stepping into Robert Downey Jr.’s legacy. Behind the scenes, the MCU had already chosen its next torchbearer. And it wasn’t speculation. It came straight from one of Marvel’s biggest voices.
Joe Russo, the Avengers: Endgame co-director, didn’t hold back. In an interview with GQ, he said, “Tom is stepping into the role that Robert Downey [Jr.] once occupied for Marvel, which is the favorite character, and in a lot of ways the soul of the Marvel universe.” That statement landed hard. The kid who joined Captain America: Civil War as a wide-eyed 15-year-old was now being called the emotional core of the biggest movie franchise on the planet.
It made sense in hindsight.

Not only has Michael Giacchino contributed to the Marvel Cinematic Universe by composing the scores for such films as Doctor Strange, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far From Home, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Thor: Love and Thunder (he did that one with Nami Melumad), and this summer’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps, but he also directed the Disney+ “Special Presentation” Werewolf by Night – and now, Entertainment Weekly reports that Giacchino is returning to the world of Werewolf by Night by writing the one-shot comic book Werewolf by Night: Blood Moon Rise, which pits the werewolf hero Jack Russell against Dracula and is set to reach store shelves on July 30th!
Instead of connecting the comic book to the Werewolf by Night special he directed, Giacchino has crafted a story that’s set during the original run of Jack Russell stories, which Marvel Comics launched back in in 1972. He told Entertainment Weekly,...

I’m all for a little tea and drama, but I’m also a firm believer in reading between the lines. So I was scrolling through TikTok, casually sipping my coffee, when suddenly—Bam! A user drops a bombshell that leaves me spitting out my drink: “Tom Holland cheated on Zendaya with me.” Hold up, did I hear that right? Cheated on Zendaya?
I’ve got more questions than answers at this point. I mean, I’ve been living under the assumption that Zendaya and Holland were the epitome of couple goals—cute, private, and low-key. From their magical chemistry on screen to their off-screen moments that made us all go aww, they were the perfect example of love in the public eye without the messy circus.

David Corenswet’s Superman and Pedro Pascal’s The Fantastic Four are two of the biggest releases of the year. Both films aim for nothing short of a billion dollar in box office revenue from the global market. However, Donald Trump’s tariff policies might put a dent in those plans. China has reportedly come up with retaliatory measures to Trump’s threat to increase the U.S. tariff on Chinese imports.
Trump imposed 54 percent tariffs on all Chinese goods, and China retaliated with a pledge of a 34 percent increase in tariffs to meet the U.S. tariff rates. The U.S. has threatened to impose a 50 percent additional levy, bringing the U.S. tariff on Chinese imports to 104 percent.

After eight full weekends in theaters, things are finally slowing down at the box office for Captain America: Brave New World. Anthony Mackie’s big-screen debut as the Star-Spangled Man has earned $199 million at the domestic box office and $213 million internationally for a total of $412 million worldwide. While this is enough to make it one of the three highest-grossing movies of the year globally and the #1 movie domestically, it doesn’t hold up so well against the rest of the MCU. Brave New World has earned less than half the box office total of 17 MCU movies, and it is currently the sixth-lowest-grossing MCU movie ever. Brave New World has passed only The Marvels, The Incredible Hulk, Captain America: The First Avenger, Black Widow, and Eternals.

Jake Gyllenhaal Ambulance Action Scene ( Photo Credit – Instagram )
“I’ve always had this sort of dream since I was younger to be in a Michael Bay [movie].” And Jake Gyllenhaal finally made it happen with Ambulance. If you ever wondered what it’s like to star in a Bay explosion-fest, Gyllenhaal had been wondering the same thing, since he was a kid.
Ambulance was classic Bay chaos. Two brothers (Gyllenhaal and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) planned a bank heist. It went south. They hijacked an ambulance. Cue the sirens, bullet storms, and high-speed mayhem through L.A., with an injured cop and an Emt (Eiza González) trapped inside. The movie did what Bay movies do – big action, big explosions, and enough plot holes to drive, well, an ambulance through. Critics weren’t exactly in love, but it pulled a decent 67% on Rotten Tomatoes.
For Gyllenhaal, this wasn’t just another role; it was a full-circle moment.

Spider-Man has a long and varied film history. The first Spider-Man movies were recuts of the 1977 TV series "The Amazing Spider-Man," and starred Nicholas Hammond as the title hero, a man who could climb walls and swing through the streets of New York on homemade webs projected from his wrists. In 1978, there was a Japanese Spider-Man film based on the Toei TV series, starring Shinji Tōdō as a robot-controlling version of the hero. Better known to American audiences are the three big-budget Spider-Man blockbusters that Sam Raimi directed between 2002 and 2007. Those films starred Tobey Maguire. Raimi's films were followed by two movies in rebooted continuity called "The Amazing Spider-Man," starring Andrew Garfield. When the second of his films tanked, Sony (who held the films rights to Spider-Man) decided to move away from that continuity and co-produce an even newer version of Spider-Man, folding the character into Disney's already-successful Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Tom Holland‘s Spider-Man 4 is untitled no longer.
The star appeared in a video clip to announce that the film is titled Spider-Man: Brand New Day, set to hit theaters July 31, 2026. Filmmaker Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) also took the stage at CinemaCon on Monday, where he copped to having just lost $200 at the roulette table in Las Vegas.
“To say that it’s an honor to be standing on this stage is a pretty big understatement,” Cretton said. He explained that he was a lifelong fan of the character and has been drawn to Peter Parker’s “humor” and “messy humanity.”

Peter Parker’s next cinematic outing is officially titled “Spider-Man: Brand New Day.” The fourquel will begin filming this summer, according to director Destin Daniel Cretton, who announced the production timeline at CinemaCon.
Though Tom Holland wasn’t on hand at the annual convention for movie theater owners, which is currently taking place in Las Vegas, the web-slinger sent a video to tease the upcoming superhero adventure.
“I am so sorry I can’t be with you. I am halfway around the world shooting a movie,” said Holland, who will be seen next in Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey” with Matt Damon, Zendaya and Anne Hathaway. “I know we left you with a massive clip hanger at the end of ‘No Way Home,’ so ‘Spider Man: Brand New Day’ is a fresh start. It is exactly that. That’s all I can say.”

Tom Hardy was originally cast as Rick Flag in the 2016 version of Suicide Squad, arguably the most detested superhero movie released in the past decade. While Joel Kinnaman was cast in his place, Hardy would star as Eddie Brock in the Venom trilogy, a slightly more favorable superhero antihero befitting of Hardy's gritty nonsense persona.
Although it's amusing to ponder how much better the movie would have fared if Hardy had starred as Rick Flag in the grim and humorless Suicide Squad, the large ensemble cast would have robbed Hardy of the chance to showcase his command of carrying a big blockbuster on his back. While Hardy is likely thrilled to have dodged a Suicide Squad bullet with his name on it, fans will never know how it would have fared with him fighting alongside Joker, Deadshot, Harley Quinn, et al.

Sam Raimi's superhero flick "Spider-Man" was a huge hit when it was released in 2002. It was made for a whopping $132 million (big money at the time), but it ended up grossing over $825 million worldwide, more or less ushering a new age of superhero movies that remained strong all the way through the 2020s. It's easy to see why a story about superheroism in New York would have caught on in the early 2000s; superheroes live in morally simple universes where good and evil are clearly delineated, a stark contrast to the wickedness and chaos of a post-9/11 world. Noble beings with extraordinary powers can now prevent massive acts of terrorism.
Despite the success of "Spider-Man," however, franchise star Tobey Maguire almost stepped away from the role for the 2004 sequel. Maguire had just become a notable Hollywood player with "Spider-Man," as well as with his acclaimed performance in the Oscar-bait horse picture "Seabiscuit,...

The NBC sitcom, Young Sheldon, quickly became a hit, offering a fresh look at the early life of Sheldon Cooper from The Big Bang Theory. But here’s a fun twist: while we’re all familiar with Sheldon’s world, there’s one detail that often slips through the cracks. Who directed the pilot episode?
It’s none other than Jon Favreau. Best known for launching the MCU with Iron Man, Favreau’s involvement in Young Sheldon is often overlooked. Yes, the same director responsible for creating some of the most iconic moments in pop culture also helped shape the origin story of the Big Bang Theory’s most fabulous character.

Marvel Studios kicked off a big day for superhero fans with a surprise live video announcement today. The studio is pulling back the curtain on the cast for its upcoming blockbuster ‘Avengers: Doomsday,’ and it’s shaping up to be a massive gathering of talent. With the stream still rolling as I write this, names are dropping steadily, and we’re getting a glimpse of who’ll be suiting up for this next chapter in the MCU.
The announcement comes after months of chatter about what Marvel has in store following a rocky stretch since ‘Avengers: Endgame’ took the world by storm back in 2019. That film was a box office juggernaut, raking in over $2.79 billion worldwide, and it set a high bar.
Now, with ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ slated for May 1, 2026, Marvel seems determined to recapture that magic. The live video, broadcast across Instagram and X, has directors’ chairs lined up, each...

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is approaching another big moment. While the post-"Avengers: Endgame" slate has been a little uneven, the Multiverse Saga has delivered some major developments. But it's all coming to a close sooner rather than later. The beginning of the end kicks off next year with "Avengers: Doomsday," with Marvel Studios having just unveiled the entire cast of the film. The cast reveal itself was a long, drawn out affair, but now we know who the key players will be. And with that, we've also had some significant happenings (or lack thereof) regarding this summer's "Thunderbolts*" spoiled already.
We're not going to give a big spoiler warning here since the brass at Marvel Studios put this all out on front street. "Doomsday" will see the return of Sebastian Stan's Bucky Barnes, Florence Pugh's Yelena Belova, and Lewis Pullman's Sentry, among others. All of these...

Acclaimed filmmaker Barry Jenkins didn't take long to find his next project after Disney's Mufasa: The Lion King. Jenkins has come on board to direct A24's upcoming biopic about the life of singer Ronnie Spector.
According to Deadline, A24 has been developing the project since 2022. Before her passing, Spector was set to be an executive producer on the biopic and hand-selected Zendaya to play her. Zendaya, who is coming off a strong 2024 thanks to Challengers and Dune: Part Two, has reportedly been wanting to work with Jenkins for some time now and vice versa. Dave Kajganich has been tapped to write an original screenplay that will "immerse audiences in what the singer’s life with the troubled producer Phil Spector felt like rather than a traditional cradle-to-the-grave biopic."

The Multiverse Saga has been quite the journey for fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The veteran franchise completed its picture-perfect Infinity Saga with the game-changing Avengers: Endgame (and offered up a prologue in Spider-Man: Far From Home) but it didn't want the story of the MCU to end there. And so, Marvel Studios put together a plan to expand the story in new ways, opening up the saga to the Multiverse itself and the franchise to streaming television, utilizing the Disney Plus streaming service to tell new stories on the small screen.
There have been highs and lows of this particular chapter in the franchise. Normally that wouldn't be surprising given that there are highs and lows to just about everything, but given Marvel's strong track record, it was surprising to audiences. In the years since the Multiverse Saga began, some of the new introductions haven't gelled with the fanbase as well as others,...

After the billion-dollar hit of "Spider-Man: No Way Home," the fourth Tom Holland-led Spidey movie has been surprisingly slow-moving. But it is in the works, and targeting a July 2026 release date. "Spider-Man 4" recently scored a new female lead in actress Sadie Sink, but what about the movie's big bad?
There's been no confirmed villain and, truthfully, the Spider-Man films have already gone through his major adversaries. "No Way Home" even brought back past villains for a multiversal Sinister Six. That probably cools the chances of us getting a Marvel Cinematic Universe-original Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, etc. for now.
Kraven the Hunter has been the perennial "they'll definitely do him in the next movie" pick since back when Andrew Garfield was still going to get his "Amazing Spider-Man 3." But Sony instead chose to make a (terrible) "Kraven the Hunter" solo movie, so I doubt they'll want to drag him out again so soon.

Avengers: Doomsdaywill mark the beginning of the end for the Multiverse Saga, setting up the epic events of Avengers: Secret Wars and, as many fans have theorized, a potential reboot of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Though long in the making, Doomsday is officially set to hit theaters in May of 2026, with cameras rolling in the next few weeks. With the Russo Brothers returning to direct, Doomsday promises to explore the answers to many lingering questions from Phases 4, 5, and 6 of the MCU.
One of the biggest questions surrounding the Multiverse Saga finale was raised in Deadpool & Wolverine, which introduced the concept of anchor beings. Tva agent Mr. Paradox explains that anchor beings are individuals around whom an entire universe revolves. If they should die, the universe would slowly begin to fade out of existence. Samuel L. Jackson recalled some priceless advice he received from Bruce Willis while they were shooting Die Hard With A Vengeance in 1994.
“He told me, ‘Hopefully you’ll be able to find a character that, when you make bad movies and they don’t make any money, you can always go back to this character everybody loves,” Jackson shared in an interview with Vanity Fair celebrating Willis’ 70th birthday . “He said, ‘Arnold’s got Terminator. Sylvester’s got Rocky, Rambo. I’ve got John McClane.’ I’m like, ‘Oh, okay.’ And it didn’t occur to me until I got that Nick Fury role—and I had a nine-picture deal to be Nick Fury—that, Oh, I’m doing what Bruce said. I’ve got this character now.”
Jackson went on to make a dozen Marvel films starring as Nick Fury, beginning with 2008’s Iron Man. He went to appear...

While the Disney/Fox merger saw the rights to the X-Men and Fantastic Four return to Marvel Studios, Spider-Man is still only on loan from Sony Pictures.
Marvel Studios' agreement with the studio fell apart shortly before Spider-Man: Far From Home's release but when the news was made public, filmmaker and fan backlash helped change Sony's mind (even Tom Holland got on the phone to Disney CEO Bob Iger).
There are certain conditions to how Spider-Man is utilised in the MCU and Sony is free to make movies like Madame Web and Kraven the Hunter without Kevin Feige's input. Earlier this week, we learned that Stranger Things star Sadie Sink has joined the cast of Spider-Man 4. Given her red hair, it didn't take long for fans (and scoopers) to speculate that she might be playing everyone from Jean Grey to Firestar and Mary Jane Watson.
However, a new report from Jeff Sneider claims Sink will play the latter, meaning the Marvel Cinematic Universe will soon have the "real" Mj. That seems problematic on several levels, not least because it diminishes the work done by Zendaya as Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far From Home, and Spider-Man: No Way Home's Michelle Jones Watson.
There is one way to make this work, though.
With Spider-Man 4 set to be released between Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, it will almost certainly be a Multiversal tale. In fact, if Doomsday ends with the creation of Battleworld, chances are that's where Peter Parker's...

Stranger Things star Sadie Sink will join Tom Holland in the fourth Spider-Man film.
Filmmaker Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) is helming the movie that is currently untitled. Erik Sommers and Chris McKenna penned the screenplay.
The plot for the fourth Spider-Man is being kept under wraps, with the last film, No Way Home, ending with the world forgetting that teenager Peter Parker was Spider-Man, including Mj (Zendaya). It is unclear who Sink will play in the film.
Holland teased the fourth film last year during a stop on Good Morning America, saying, “The idea is crazy. It’s a little different to anything we’ve done before, but I think the fans are gonna really respond to it.”
Sony Pictures has set a theatrical release for July 31, 2026.

Jake Gyllenhallhas had a fair number of hits in his career. His highest-grossing movie as an actor is Spider-Man: Far From Home, wherein he played the villain, Mysterio. This film is the actor's only movie to gross over $1 billion, coming in at $1.13 billion. Beyond his MCU stint, however, Gyllenhaal has had a number of other successful titles. The disaster thriller The Day After Tomorrow, for example, made over $555 million at the box office, and 2010's Prince of Persia: Sands of Time brought in $336.3 million.
Gyllenhaal has also starred in several dramas by award-winning directors. This includes Ang Lee's Brokeback Mountain, which earned the actor his first and only Oscar nomination. He has also worked with Bong Joon Ho on Okja, where he played the wacky Dr. Johnny Wilcox. Gyllenhaal has also been nominated for three Golden Globes for the movies Love & Other Drugs and Nightcrawler and the TV show Presumed Innocent.

It was recently confirmed that Final Destination: Bloodlines is set to reach theatres on May 16, 2025, and the teaser trailer, embedded above, dropped online last month. Now, a new poster has been unveiled – and it proudly and prominently displays the reason given by the Motion Picture Association ratings board for the film’s R rating! That reason: strong violent / grisly accidents, and language. The poster can be seen at the bottom of this article.
