Ivar's triumphant entry in and proclamation as king of Kattegat, celebrate with Hvitserk, is clouded only by the inability to find and execute Lagertha. She, Bjorn and Ubbe took refuge at on old shelter, which ally Rollo guesses after finding Ivar at a loss. Harald is mourning Astrid, haunted by his murder of Halfdan and as insure about Ivar's promises as Hvitserk. Rollo invites Bjorn to return with him to Francia with Lagertha, revealing himself as Bjorn's biological father, but Bjorn won't have a bar of either. When Ivar finds the hut, they have already left, leaving a crazed Margrethe behind to steal a boat and sail for England with bishop Heahmund. In Wessex, king Alfred alienates the church by proposing liturgy in English instead of Latin. Queen mother Judith convinces Alfred to let her select a bride as the dynasty needs an heir to secure his position. Lagertha arrives in Wessex and is soon captured by Aethelred. In Iceland the settlers decide by one vote -Eyvind's son Helgi- against sacrificing utter failure Floki to the gods.
