  • ..another one in a very long line of typical Hallmark romance movies.. nothing more or less.. ..the real star of this film is Paris.. a city that everyone should at least visit once in their lifetime.. ..all the actors are pleasant enough, but there's little to stretch their abilities.. the script is way beyond perfunctory.. ..you know exactly what's going to happen before it happens. and there are absolutely no surprises.. ..is there a recommend in there somewhere.. sure.. watch it for Paris

You can never give up on love yes I loved this Hallmark story , I watched it on the Hallmark Channel. Love Locks is a sincere romance, and I defy anyone to not be moved by these kindhearted characters as they reflect on the history of their first love and come to rediscover the strength and goodness of that love. Yes I highly recommend it. James Welch Henderson, Arkansas 1/26/2021
  • Hallmark may be very inconsistent in all their season blocks every year (their Christmas films particularly), but there are films of theirs that are surprisingly well above average and more in every season block and every year. Their 2017 output did have misfires throughout the year ('At Home in Mitford'), but also films that impressed me ('The Birthday Wish'). Was intrigued by 'Love Locks' due to the cast and because it was one of the Hallmark Hall of Fame films.

'Love Locks' may not have quite wowed me, but it is not undeserving of being a Hallmark Hall of Fame film and is a very promising and very good way to start, or at least lead into, the 2017 Hallmark Valentine films period. Is it a great film? Not quite. Is it worth watching and has a lot of good things? Yes, and as far as Hallmark's 2017 output that had been aired already goes it's one of the better ones and among their better ones overall that year.

There is very little to criticise here. It is formulaic and doesn't have many surprises, almost everything is obvious well before it happens (and it is not just the neatly wrapped up ending) and did think that Bruce Davison seemed out of place and didn't fit his role.

On the other hand, 'Love Locks' is a beautiful looking film and one of the best looking 2017 Hallmark films. Especially the Parisian scenery, which is nothing short of magnificent. One has to be an amateur to find some way somehow of making Paris look visually ugly, and luckily that doesn't happen here. Photography is very loving towards it. The music is not overbearing or overused, while still having personality and variety.

While not a script that will win awards, the script is light-hearted and witty, clearly knowing what it was trying to be and clearly understood the genre the film fits under. Doing so without trying to throw in too much tonally or adding anything unnecessary. The story is not original, but is full of charm and never takes itself too seriously, while also treating the subject with maturity. The pace never felt dull while not being rushed.

Also felt that the characters weren't too stereotypical and were more than just typical Hallmark cliches that is seen too often with Hallmark. Also cared for them, with them being true to life with personality traits that appealed with situations worth relating to. Rebecca Romijn and Jerry O'Connell are very appealing in their roles, with a nice light hearted energy and also heart. Their chemistry really charms.

In conclusion, liked it very much on the whole. 7/10.
  • My wife and I watched this movie at home on DVD from our public library. It is a thoroughly enjoyable romantic movie, in fact with three different romances, young, middle age, and old folks.

It is a Hallmark movie, no drugs, no sex, no bad language, just wholesome characters looking for meaningful relationships.

I became a Rebecca Romijn fan when I saw the original X-Men (2000) movie, she was Mystique, the character in the blue body paint. Here she is Lindsey Wilson, formerly a budding artist trained in Paris but now 20 years later owner of a successful art magazine.

Of course Jerry O'Connell has been a favorite since his days as one of the young boys in "Stand By Me". Here he is Jack Burrow, an American who stayed in Paris and now is owner and operator of a hotel.

As the movie begins we see Lindsey and Jack 20 years earlier, young lovers in Paris, and there is an incident on the bridge where lovers place their locks, and that is the reference in the title "Love Locks." Then 20 years later Lindsey has an occasion to return to Paris, her teen daughter is starting art school, and the old friend arranges that they stay at Jack's hotel.

So that is where the movie starts going, to see if Lindsey and Jack can see that their lives would be better with each other. Meanwhile Lindsey's daughter falls for a young Frenchman who is studying mathematics, and Lindsey's old art teacher falls for a woman who spends lots of time at Jack's hotel.

The several stories meld together well and all reach satisfying conclusions in just over 90 minutes. And of course beautiful Paris. We enjoyed this movie very much.
  • This second chance romance between Jack and Lindsey reunites real life couple Jerry O'Connell and Rebecca Romijn. Lindsey and Jack were college lovers who parted in Paris to meet at the Empire State Building like the classic films Love Affair and An Affair to remember.

Fast forward 20 years and Lindsey is a divorcé with a college age daughter of her own and is off to Paris where she is being courted by a publishing big wig who wants to buy her magazine.

While running around Paris with her daughter, Lindsey runs into Jack at a bar in which he owns the establishment.

Rebecca is gorgeous and Jerry is his usual funny and charming self...it works in these sweet little Parisian romance.

    Warning: Spoilers
The movie was fine. It seemed like RR was going for an understated performance but overshot straight into semi-robotic territory for the most important part. When she finally tells JO's character her true feelings, it was so emotionless she could've been saying anything. So...it was fine.
  • I appreciate that parts were actually filmed in Paris! Jocelyn Hudon definitely seemed older than her character was supposed to be (which is pretty common in reality of the movie business but not always so obviously noticeable).
  • Beautiful photography and on location filming in Paris make this Hallmark romance above average and quite charming. A divorced mother played by a still attractive Rebecca Romijn and her daughter - refreshingly not a brat, go to Paris. There they find romance. Jerry O'Connell is her ex boyfriend who owns a pretty hotel there. The theme is the love locks people put on bridges.

The cast is good and surprisingly a real life husband and wife can act in a romance without being irritating. The only fault is Bruce Davison who isn't a convincing French artist.

There are some Hallmark movies that are too perky and cute or the cast is a bit second rate. This isn't one of them. Worth a watch.

Disappointed--was hoping for an original story but instead saw a not as good remake of Romance on the Orient Express (Cheryl Ladd starred in that one). The original had more genuine performances and you could feel the love and loss of the main characters. There was a maturity and depth to that version that is sorely lacking here. Except for the genuine Paris locations this film seems on par with the usual Hallmark "romance" of the week Surprised there is no mention that this movie is a remake. Almost feel like it is trying to be passed off as original but even the daughter's name is the same. Generally expect more from Hallmark Hall of Fame movies.
  • As soon as Love Locks started, I knew I was going to enjoy it. I've had this movie in my que for awhile and finally got around to watching it. I knew Jerry & Rebecca were married and am a fan of them both.

The chemistry of the two was outstanding...it better have been. The story was great, predictable yes, but ALL HM movies are predictable.

The scenery of Paris, well what can I say, it's Paris and what was cool was in one shot there was Notre Dame in the background.

    Good movie, worth seeing.
  • If you've seen one Hallmark you've seen them all, and as with most Hallmark stuff, the reunited 40ish leads are mailing it in to pay the bills and can't even pretend there's real feeling. However the older mentor-artist is a terrific character actor, as is the widow he makes a connection with; they even get some decent lines: the best - which gets attribution, Is life is art without an eraser.

The other believable relationship; the connection between the lead actress and her 20yo daughter is the most convincing love relationship in the film.

If you just want a pleasant uncritical diversion, you could do worse.
  • I'm not too keen on most Valentine's flicks, but this is so much more. The different perspectives and ensuing interaction between the three generations works well, the Paris locations are great and the multiple business situations make this a multi-faceted movie that the whole family can watch together.

The daughter character is named Alexa. When I watch this movie, romaine lettuce is delivered to my house the next day. Weird!
  • 7.8 stars.

I think Hallmark can't go wrong with an all star cast such as this. I guess the leads are married, and I probably knew that a while back, but I forgot. What I most enjoy about 'Love Locks' is that with the backdrop of Paris, Romijn and O'Connell provide great chemistry, fun, laughs and love. There is a lot of energy happening in this story and I have to attribute most of it to a subdued O'Connell who is bursting at the seams to give us a whole lot more than was permitted.

Lindsey and Jack are two Americans who were in Paris 20 years ago and were lost in love, but she had to return to New York to pursue her own dreams of becoming an artist and whatever other excuses the writers could concoct. Meanwhile, Jack stays in Paris and builds a life for himself there. Lindsey returns to Paris with her 18 year old daughter (not Jack's) and by coincidence Jack owns the hotel where they are staying and the love resumes right where it left off.

I enjoy 'Love Locks', it's exciting and very entertaining. There is something very sparkly about the the Parisian atmosphere and the dream of love and the abundance of artistry in this film. There are several other characters that enrich the story as well, which adds more layers and balance to the film. 'Love Locks' is rich with pleasant conversations and exciting interactions amongst the characters, involving art, fine cuisine, beautiful scenery, and growing friendships. The dialogue is intelligent and bold, and the personalities are happy and fun-loving. There is not one ounce of gloom in 'Love Locks', so this is a good pick-me-up if you need one. The acting is great, the romance is great, this movie is great!
