Updated: Tarak Ben Ammar’s Eagle Pictures is in talks with “Green Book” director Peter Farrelly to team up on the film adaptation of French author Guillaume Musso’s bestselling novel “Seras-tu là,” Variety has learned.
“Seras-tu là” revolves around Elliott, a 60-year old widowed and renowned surgeon who lives in San Francisco and has a daughter, Angie. Although he leads a successful life, he never totally recovered from the death of his beloved wife 30 years prior. One day, he meets a man who gives him the opportunity to travel back in time. Elliott embarks on a journey to change his wife’s fate and do things differently, traveling back and forth between 2006 and 1976.

Four years after the time-travelling love story “Will You Be There?”, director Hong Ji-young is back with her newest project “New Year Blues”, a a feel-good holiday film that will probably mean most to regular watchers of K-Dramas.

“New Year Blues” is based on the romantic one week of four couples who overcome different fears before the new year.
“New Year Blues” stars a plethora of K-Drama stars, including Yoo Yeon-seok, who had a successful 2020 after starring in “Steel Rain 2: Summit” on the big screen and “Hospital Playlist” on tv, Kim Kang-woo, Yoo In-na, Lee Yeon-hee, Lee Dong-hwi, Chinese film and tv actress Chen Duling (“My Left Ear”) and Yum Hye-ran, among others. It is scheduled to be one of the final releases of the year, with a late-December 2020 release anticipated.

Set up by former Showbox executive Helen Jung, who had been behind multiple hit films such as historical drama “A Taxi Driver,” crime drama “Inside Men,” as well as disaster pic “Tunnel” and 2014 Cannes Directors’ Fortnight title “A Hard Day,” Acemaker Movieworks began its journey in the Korean film industry in 2018.
As with several other new entrants at the time, Acemaker represented a combination of industry veterans and non-industry capital. It sourced its money from the former owner of cosmetic company Carver Korea, which Unilever acquired in 2017.
