Every choice has consequences. After two years of a highly anticipated wait, the record-breaking Emmy award winning HBO series The Last of Us returns.

Season 2 picks up five years after the events of the first season, which saw Joel (Pedro Pascal) massacre a team of doctors who were hoping to cure civilization from the zombie-like disease ravaging the surviving population. The only problem with this plan is that the cost of a potential vaccine came at the expense of fatally experimenting on the mysteriously immune Ellie (Bella Ramsey)—a price Joel wasn’t willing to pay. Now, as a result of their respective actions while searching for safety, Joel and Ellie will be forced to face repercussions from their individual pasts.

Some new faces will appear in Season 2 of The Last of Us, all of whom are from the video game. Kaitlyn Dever, Isabela Merced, Tati Gabrielle and more will bring these characters to life.

Nearly two months after its Prime Video premiere, On Call remains in the streamer's daily Top 10 ranking. The police drama series hails from executive producer Dick Wolf, a master of the procedural drama genre.

According to FlixPatrol, On Call has been hovering around the No. 5 and No. 6 spots in Prime Video's Top 10 this week. This marks a bit of a drop for the police drama, which spent the first week in the No. 1 spot on the streamer's TV Top 10. Michelle Trachtenberg made an impact on the industry as far back as her first leading role in the 1996 comedy movie Harriet the Spy.

The actress, known for later roles on popular television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Gossip Girl, was found dead Wednesday at age 39. After gigs as a child actress on such shows as All My Children and The Adventures of Pete and Pete, Trachtenberg landed her feature film debut in Harriet the Spy, which Paramount released on July 10, 1996, when she was 10 years old.

Bronwen Hughes, who directed Harriet the Spy, tells THR that the project was a special one for both herself and her young star, given that the movie was also Hughes’ feature directorial debut. Fox has given an early, 22-episode Season 2 renewal to breakout freshman medical drama Doc, starring Molly Parker.

This is a rare full-season order of that size in the new broadcast era where seasons often consist of 13-18 episodes. The last Fox drama to produce 22 episodes was the network’s previous medical show, The Resident, which delivered 23 during the 2021-22 season.

What makes Doc‘s pickup size even more unusual is that it is given to a series that launched in midseason. As they only air for a couple of months, these freshmen have smaller orders, between eight and 13 episodes. (Doc‘s was 10.) That is not considered fully adequate for a show to prove itself, so midseason newbies typically receive a 13-episode Season 2 renewal that could be extended with additional episodes if the series returns strong in the fall. On linear, the High Potential Season 1 finale topped Tuesday night across broadcast and cable for the second straight week among total viewers (8.7 million) and adults 18-49 (0.76 rating), logging the largest viewer advantage over CBS’ flagship drama FBI (+9% vs. 8 million) for any Tuesday scripted series in over six years – since NBC’s This Is Us did it on January 22, 2019.

ABC’s new crime drama, High Potential, has been a major success for ABC since it premiered and its season finale was no exception. The Feb. 11 season finale of High Potential, starring It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’s Kaitlin Olson, tied the series’ season high in total viewers.

Per The Hollywood Reporter,High Potential’s first season finale had a total of 13.2 million viewers, which tied the number set in mid-January. The series also set a new high in the 18 to 49-year-old demographic, a key range for ad sales.

Additionally, among that age group, the season finale achieved a 2.59 rating, which is equal to about 3.47 million people tuning in to the show in that demographic. Exclusive: Aaron Holliday (Cocaine Bear), Jermaine Fowler (Sorry to Bother You), Michael Abbott Jr. (Fallout) and Sean Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy) have wrapped on Appofeniacs, an indie horror film from writer-director Chris Marrs Piliero.

Appofeniacs is a riff on the term “apophenia” which is the tendency to find connections or patterns in things that are unrelated or random — common examples being confirmation bias and paranoia. This marks the feature debut for Piliero, who is known for his music video work with Ariana Grande, Britney Spears, Avril Lavigne, Kesha, and The Black Keys (for which he won an MTV VMA).

Piliero independently financed and produced the film, which also stars Will Brandt, Paige Searcy, Simran Jehani, Harley Bronwyn, and Sean Wing. Gunn exec produced the pic, with Salvatore Schiavone and Jonathan Voluck handling casting.

Previously seen in Universal’s horror comedy Cocaine Bear, Holliday has also been seen on HBO’s Euphoria and Sharp Objects.

Gordon — who’s most known as the director behind hit comedies such as Four Christmases (2008), Horrible Bosses (2011) and Identity Thief (2013) — hasn’t made a feature film since 2017’s Baywatch, and while his four films have averaged a box office gross of nearly $183 million each, his absence coincides with the comedy genre’s steady decline at the box office and widespread disappearance from major studio development slates. Gordon doesn’t have the definitive answer for why comedy is no longer the dominant force it once was at multiplexes, but he speculates that it could be a result of the hectic political climate that’s been in effect since 2017.

Prime Video's police drama On Call has become a hit with audiences, and the primary reason why is the performances of stars Troian Bellisario and Brandon Larracuente. As veteran patrol officer Traci Harmon and her rookie partner Alex Diaz, the two create a partnership that viewers get to watch grow organically over the course of eight episodes -- from their first meeting to life-changing moments between them.

Similarly, ABC pulled the plug on "The Good Doctor" after seven successful seasons, with the network seemingly opting out of renegotiating some key contracts.

According to Deadline, Sony Pictures Television reportedly didn't approach the series' showrunners and its main star, Freddie Highmore, about extending their deals after they expired. The report claims that the powers that be considered making a limited eighth season, but in the end, they made the tough call to sunset the hit medical drama. Highmore was reportedly open to returning for another season, but it seems that ABC was more keen to cut costs.

It was first reported in November that CBS was eyeing a spinoff of the Queen Latifah-led reboot of the 1980s action crime drama of the same name. Now, Welliver and Feliz will appear in episode 16 of the show’s ongoing fifth season with series regular options should the spinoff move forward.

Welliver will play Hudson Reed, described as “a former top CIA operative with a dark secret who is connected to Robin McCall (Queen Latifah) by an old mentor.” Feliz will play Samanta Reed, who is said to be “trained by her father to be a weapons expert, skilled martial artist and true chameleon all while hiding a mysterious past.”

Welliver is coming off of a decade-long stint playing the character Det.

Eight years after wrapping up her run as Spencer Hastings on Pretty Little Liars, Troian Bellisario has finally added another television hit to her filmography. On Call, the latest cop show from Dick Wolf, has become a major streaming success on Prime Video.

According to FlixPatrol, On Call has been No. 1 on TV for Prime Video since Jan. 13, with the procedural drama series being responsible for knocking the reality competition series Beast Games from YouTuber Mr. Beast out of the top spot. The show's ratings success comes amid mixed reviews from critics, with review aggregate website Rotten Tomatoes noting that On Call has a 54 percent approval rating. Originally set up at IMDb TV (later Freevee), On Call moved over to Prime Video, with all eight episodes dropping onto the streamer on Jan. 9. Besides Bellisario, On Call stars Brandon Larracuente, Eriq Lasalle, Lori Loughlin, Rich Ting, and Monica Raymund.

Law & Order creator Dick Wolf's new police procedural, On Call, recently debuted on Prime Video and is already dominating the streamer's Top 10 list. The show is currently sitting at number one, was co-created by Tim Walsh (Chicago P.D.) and Elliot Wolf (Law & Order: Criminal Justice System), and is the first straight-to-streaming project for the legendary producer.

On Call follows seasoned Officer Traci Harmon and rookie Officer Alex Diaz as they field calls in Long Beach, California. The production of the show is gritty and realistic, relying on handheld cameras along with body cam footage. It often feels like it's a documentary series rather than a dramatic police procedural.

Troian Bellisario and Brandon Larracuente are teaming up for On Call. The Dick Wolf-produced Prime Video series stars Bellisario in the lead role of Officer Traci Harmon, a veteran cop with a chip on her shoulder after experiencing a career-altering call years prior. By her side is Larracuente's Officer Alex Diaz, a rookie cop coming into the Long Beach Police Department with a high level of hope.

On Call represents Bellisario's first main role on a television series since her breakout in Pretty Little Liars. She starred as Spencer Hastings on that mystery teen drama for 160 episodes in the 2010s. Larracuente is coming off of television success with roles in hit shows like 13 Reasons Why, Party of Five, and The Good Doctor.

We haven’t seen much of Chicago Med’s Dr. Tanaka-Reed during Season 10, but that’s about to change.

Tanaka-Reed joined Med as a first-year resident during Chicago Med Season 8. He worked most often with Dr. Marcel, who unfortunately is no longer here and hasn’t had a chance to shine yet on Chicago Med Season 10.

We had the opportunity to catch up with Devin Kawaoka, who plays Tanaka-Reed, and he had exciting news to share about what’s coming up for his character and the show in general.

2024 was not a good year for a lot of networks. We said goodbye to some great shows, and we’re still salty about some of the cancellations. There were a couple of ABC shows that we wanted to see more of, especially considering they ended with a shortened season due to the pandemic.

2025 has officially arrived and with the new year ahead, there’s still time to look back on the year that was 2024. It was quite an interesting year for TV fans with the results of the 2023 actors’ and writers’ strikes bleeding into the new year leading to shortened seasons of some of the biggest shows on air and unexpected sendoffs for series that very well could have continued for many more seasons.

When it comes to cancellations, CBS by far had some of the biggest cancellations in broadcast in 2024 bringing a close to so many amazing shows including a handful of shows that very much remained at the top of the leaderboard in viewership. Fans were incredibly vocal about some of the choices CBS made, but The Eye network wasn’t the only network that made some difficult decisions leading to the end of a batch of amazing shows.

A new report underlines the fact that Blue Bloods season 14 drew stronger ratings than the show that will replace it in the timeslot. After a run that lasted for well over a decade, with a total of 293 episodes, Blue Bloods season signed off in December. The police procedural's last run has proven to be a lightning rod, not for any particular storyline decision, but more so for the fact that CBS decided to end the popular drama despite its consistently strong performance with viewers.

TVLine looked at the top-rated shows on broadcast television midway through the 2024-2025 TV season. Blue Bloods season 14 came in sixth, emerging as broadcast's fourth most-watched drama. Including the Live+7 numbers, which account for ratings across seven days, season 14 drew an average of 7.9 million viewers. The final season drew 0.46 in the key 18-49 demographic. Overall, it ranks as sixth amongst all the shows (scripted and reality) aired by CBS.

Now that 2024 has come to a close, it’s official, Netflix once again handed out the most cancellations in the calendar year – though at this point, I don’t think anyone will find this surprising. While the streaming platform has gotten better as the years have gone by in giving shows final seasons and the chances to establish themselves with audiences, the streaming platform continues to have some of the biggest cancellation rates in the business and 2024 was no different.

In total, Netflix canceled 16 shows in 2024 while also handing six additional shows their walking papers with final season orders which are about as close to cancellations as you can get the only difference being that those lucky six shows will get to actually wrap up their runs with proper sendoffs. So when you combine the two groups, Netflix decided to end a whopping 22 shows in 2024 be it by canceling them directly or ordering final seasons.

Network TV offered high-quality entertainment in 2024 despite some challenges, and its best episodes are proof of that. Hollywood's dual writers' and actors' strikes in late 2023 delayed the start of the 2023-2024 television season, but when the strikes were settled, the shortened spring 2024 season gave us some of the all-time best TV shows. This period saw many memorable episodes airing, including the finales of long-running shows such as The Good Doctor and additions to new hits like Found.

The fall TV season was not marred by these problems, though budget cuts after the strikes meant saying goodbye to extremely popular shows such as Blue Bloods. The disappointing Blue Bloods cancelation news was offset by the return of popular franchises like Law & Order and One Chicago, along with exciting new shows.
