Every choice has consequences. After two years of a highly anticipated wait, the record-breaking Emmy award winning HBO series The Last of Us returns.
Season 2 picks up five years after the events of the first season, which saw Joel (Pedro Pascal) massacre a team of doctors who were hoping to cure civilization from the zombie-like disease ravaging the surviving population. The only problem with this plan is that the cost of a potential vaccine came at the expense of fatally experimenting on the mysteriously immune Ellie (Bella Ramsey)—a price Joel wasn’t willing to pay. Now, as a result of their respective actions while searching for safety, Joel and Ellie will be forced to face repercussions from their individual pasts.
Some new faces will appear in Season 2 of The Last of Us, all of whom are from the video game. Kaitlyn Dever, Isabela Merced, Tati Gabrielle and more will bring these characters to life.

Nearly two months after its Prime Video premiere, On Call remains in the streamer's daily Top 10 ranking. The police drama series hails from executive producer Dick Wolf, a master of the procedural drama genre.
According to FlixPatrol, On Call has been hovering around the No. 5 and No. 6 spots in Prime Video's Top 10 this week. This marks a bit of a drop for the police drama, which spent the first week in the No. 1 spot on the streamer's TV Top 10. This achievement led to YouTuber Mr. Beast's reality competition series Beast Games finally being bumped out of the top spot. FlixPatrol is also reporting that On Call has been in Prime Video's Top 10 for 55 days this year, meaning that the show has only spent a couple of days off of the list.
While On Call received mixed reviews from critics, with review aggregate website Rotten Tomatoes noting a 54 percent approval rating,...

Who doesn’t love the drama and intrigue of a well-written suspenseful medical drama series? As a kid, I loved Doogie Howser, M.D., and how this socially awkward teenage doctor (Neil Patrick Harris) would solve impossible medical cases despite the misgivings of attending adult doctors and nurses.
Medical drama series have been a fan favorite pastime since the first American medical drama Dr. Kildare (starring Richard Chamberlain) aired in the 1960s. Since then, we have cheered, mourned, and sobbed our way through medical melodrama in series such as ER, Chicago Med, The Good Doctor, Boston Med, House, Private Practice, Nurse Jackie, and arguably the most successful medical drama series with 19+ seasons – Grey’s Anatomy.
These medical series are typically set in either a clinic or hospital of some kind where patients are treated for a variety of ailments and medical conditions. Add in the theatrics of the interactions between the medical staff and their patients,...

Sorry, Ripley fans, but I’m not buying this redemption storyline.
Chicago Med Season 10 Episode 15 used Ripley’s near-death experience as a shortcut to forgiveness he didn’t earn, especially from Hannah.
Don’t get me wrong. I didn’t want the guy to die. But I didn’t want this story to go the way it was going, either.
(George Burns, Jr/NBC) It Was Obvious Where Chicago Med Season 10 Episode 15 Was Going From The First Scene
The episode began with Ripley getting into what seemed like a gratuitous car crash, which led to him discovering two people trapped in a well.
And there it was: his rushed redemption story.

As far as procedural dramas go, CBS is the unrivaled king of such programming. "NCIS," "CSI," and even dating back to "Gunsmoke," the network has a knack for crafting a long-running hit. Such was the case when they rebooted "Hawaii Five-0" with a new cast for modern viewers in 2010. The series was another success, lasting a full decade and airing well over 200 episodes. Daniel Dae Kim's Chin Ho Kelly was a major part of the show, for the first seven seasons at least. But Kim, along with his co-star Grace Park, left the series ahead of season 8.
Many viewers were certainly frustrated to see these fan favorites leave the show. That begs the question, why did Kim leave? The answer is surprisingly simple. It all boiled down to a pay dispute. Kim, who was coming off of his role as Jin-Soo Kwan on "Lost,...

More and more people are discovering how Korea has an incredible range of shows for TV. Aptly named K-dramas, these shows highlight Korean culture and introduce to audiences some of the most popular plot points and themes in Korea, including medical dramas. In fact, not many viewers might know that the hit ABC drama The Good Doctor was originally a Korean drama of (almost) the same name.

Michelle Trachtenberg made an impact on the industry as far back as her first leading role in the 1996 comedy movie Harriet the Spy.
The actress, known for later roles on popular television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Gossip Girl, was found dead Wednesday at age 39. After gigs as a child actress on such shows as All My Children and The Adventures of Pete and Pete, Trachtenberg landed her feature film debut in Harriet the Spy, which Paramount released on July 10, 1996, when she was 10 years old.
Bronwen Hughes, who directed Harriet the Spy, tells THR that the project was a special one for both herself and her young star, given that the movie was also Hughes’ feature directorial debut. Rosie O’Donnell, J. Smith-Cameron and Gregory Smith rounded out the cast for the film that adapted author Louise Fitzhugh’s 1964 children’s novel of the same name.

Fox has given an early, 22-episode Season 2 renewal to breakout freshman medical drama Doc, starring Molly Parker.
This is a rare full-season order of that size in the new broadcast era where seasons often consist of 13-18 episodes. The last Fox drama to produce 22 episodes was the network’s previous medical show, The Resident, which delivered 23 during the 2021-22 season.
What makes Doc‘s pickup size even more unusual is that it is given to a series that launched in midseason. As they only air for a couple of months, these freshmen have smaller orders, between eight and 13 episodes. (Doc‘s was 10.) That is not considered fully adequate for a show to prove itself, so midseason newbies typically receive a 13-episode Season 2 renewal that could be extended with additional episodes if the series returns strong in the fall. Doc joins very few midseason entries that have earned straight full-season Season 2 pickups,...

Sure, there’s some Main Character Syndrome with Amy Larsen on Doc, but that’s because she is the main character.
We’re following her story, and as the protagonist — even a deeply flawed and somewhat tragic one — we’re inclined to sympathize with and root for her. She feels like an underdog, and we want her to persevere.
However, just because Amy feels like the hero in our story, does that mean the other characters are villains?
(Fox) Doc Calls For Us to Sympathize with Amy, and We Do
The series makes us sympathize with Amy. When we met her, she was cold and blunt and didn’t care about a filter. It was apparent that most people around her had grown tired of her brusque delivery and prickly personality.
But we’re used to a character like this.
Many of Amy’s traits as a medical professional aren’t new.

20th Television have dropped yet another teaser for Alien: Earth, their upcoming sci-fi horror series that will serve as a prequel to the first film in the franchise, revealing what happened back home on Earth two years before the events of the 1979 movie.
While we don't have an official premiere date, the series is slated to debut this Summer on FX on Hulu domestically and Disney+ via Star internationally. Also, with the Super Bowl right around the corner, there's a very real possibility that a full-length trailer could debut during the annual event, especially considering the Big Game is airing on Fox.
Plot details remain relatively under wraps, but the basic premise is as follows, "When a mysterious space vessel crash-lands on Earth, a young woman and a ragtag group of tactical soldiers make a fateful discovery that puts them face-to-face with the planet's greatest threat."

Back in Action is headlined by Cameron Diaz’s comeback after 11 years away from acting, but Netflix’s most viewed weekend premiere in nearly three years is also Seth Gordon’s return to feature filmmaking.
Gordon — who’s most known as the director behind hit comedies such as Four Christmases (2008), Horrible Bosses (2011) and Identity Thief (2013) — hasn’t made a feature film since 2017’s Baywatch, and while his four films have averaged a box office gross of nearly $183 million each, his absence coincides with the comedy genre’s steady decline at the box office and widespread disappearance from major studio development slates. Gordon doesn’t have the definitive answer for why comedy is no longer the dominant force it once was at multiplexes, but he speculates that it could be a result of the hectic political climate that’s been in effect since 2017.
“[2017] was the time when comedy started to die down.

Prime Video's police drama On Call has become a hit with audiences, and the primary reason why is the performances of stars Troian Bellisario and Brandon Larracuente. As veteran patrol officer Traci Harmon and her rookie partner Alex Diaz, the two create a partnership that viewers get to watch grow organically over the course of eight episodes -- from their first meeting to life-changing moments between them.
Bellisario and Larracuente spoke to Cbr about how they developed the rapport necessary to make Harmon and Diaz's team-up work for fans. Bellisario also reflected on being seen in a different light after the success of her breakout role in Pretty Little Liars. And Larracuente talked about what it's like to play a rookie police officer and convey all of that uncertainty on-screen.

As the old saying goes, all good things must come to an end. However, in the world of television, some farewells are surprising. CBS canceled "Blue Bloods" in 2024 after deciding to revamp its programming, even though the police procedural still garnered respectable ratings for the network. Similarly, ABC pulled the plug on "The Good Doctor" after seven successful seasons, with the network seemingly opting out of renegotiating some key contracts.
According to Deadline, Sony Pictures Television reportedly didn't approach the series' showrunners and its main star, Freddie Highmore, about extending their deals after they expired. The report claims that the powers that be considered making a limited eighth season, but in the end, they made the tough call to sunset the hit medical drama. Highmore was reportedly open to returning for another season, but it seems that ABC was more keen to cut costs.

Titus Welliver and Juani Feliz have been cast in guest star roles in an upcoming episode of “The Equalizer,” which could set up a potential spinoff based on their characters.

Eight years after wrapping up her run as Spencer Hastings on Pretty Little Liars, Troian Bellisario has finally added another television hit to her filmography. On Call, the latest cop show from Dick Wolf, has become a major streaming success on Prime Video.

Warning: this article contains Spoilers for High Potential season 1, episode 9.High Potential's Tom (J.D. Pardo) departure was shocking, but the book isn't permanently shut on his and Morgan's (Kaitlin Olson) relationship. Tom was introduced in High Potential episode 6 (“Hangover”) and began a flirtation with Morgan that progressed until he asked her out officially at the start of the following episode. The midseason finale hostage situation derailed their plans until High Potential episode 8 (“Obsessed”), but their first date seemed to be their last— at least for now.
High Potential has succeeded as The Good Doctor’s replacement and broken viewership records on ABC, but the pilot season follows much more important storylines than a romance. Tom and Morgan could have had a sweet subplot in High Potential, but they were incompatible. Morgan’s life is hectic and, despite promising her he could handle it, Tom bowed out when she got too busy for him.

Law & Order creator Dick Wolf's new police procedural, On Call, recently debuted on Prime Video and is already dominating the streamer's Top 10 list. The show is currently sitting at number one, was co-created by Tim Walsh (Chicago P.D.) and Elliot Wolf (Law & Order: Criminal Justice System), and is the first straight-to-streaming project for the legendary producer.
On Call follows seasoned Officer Traci Harmon and rookie Officer Alex Diaz as they field calls in Long Beach, California. The hit NBC medical drama Brilliant Minds may have concluded, but there are many shows to turn to with similar premises. Brilliant Minds, based loosely on the real life of neurologist Oliver Sacks, follows Dr. Oliver Wolf (Zachary Quinto) using his unusual approach to medicine to care for patients. He and his team of doctors and interns are passionate about exploring the last great frontier of medicine, the human mind. After 13 episodes, the ending of Brilliant Minds season 1 has left viewers feeling bereft.
WIth Brilliant Minds season 2 still unconfirmed, it's possible that the season 1 finale may have also served as the series finale. However, there are options besides rewatching the first season - a story can only be told so many times before its impact is dulled. The best alternatives for fans to find the same character complexity, medical marvels, or romantic subplots lie in the great medical dramas that came before.

By her side is Larracuente's Officer Alex Diaz, a rookie cop coming into the Long Beach Police Department with a high level of hope.

Chicago Med Season 10 Episode 9 arrived with both dread and excitement.
Everyone involved with Med was so careful not to leak Sharon’s fate that I was sure we were in for something painful — or else an awful arc like the one on The Good Doctor after a similar stabbing.
I should have had more faith in Chicago Med. The only thing I was right about was that it would be emotional, and it was, but in a good way.
(Elizabeth Sisson/NBC) I’m Usually An Optimist, But I Was Waiting For The Other Shoe To Drop
One of the best things about “No Love Lost” is that Sharon’s rescue sequence was finished quickly, but I spent the rest of the episode expecting bad news.
Nothing dragged in this storyline.

2024 was not a good year for a lot of networks. We said goodbye to some great shows, and we’re still salty about some of the cancellations. There were a couple of ABC shows that we wanted to see more of, especially considering they ended with a shortened season due to the pandemic.
We take a look back at the cancellations of 2024. Hopefully, 2025 will be better.

Two shows were given final season orders as the strike action came to an end. It was disappointing news for fans of the shows. The Good Doctor was the first to get the orders, coming to an end after seven seasons. This was one of...

With High Potential's midseason break nearly over, the hit ABC procedural is continuing to impress with recently released ratings. High Potential earned a Certified Fresh Rotten Tomatoes Score early in its pilot season, but its popularity has only continued to grow. Headed by It’s Always Sunny Philadelphia star Kaitlin Olson, High Potential's Morgan has attracted tons of viewers for her namesake alone. The show itself, however, is what’s kept people’s interest throughout the first batch of episodes.
The modern twist on a police procedural has amassed a devoted following thanks to its fresh spin on episodic crime-solving and overarching mysteries like what happened to Morgan’s ex-husband in High Potential. The witty writing, fashion-forward costumes, and well-developed characters make for a winning combination that alleviates any fears regarding High Potential’s performance compared to the former holder of its timeslot, The Good Doctor. Though the two shows are vastly different,...

Daniel Dae Kim, known for his work in The Good Doctor and Joy Ride (and most recently as Firelord Ozai on Netflix's Avatar: The Last Airbender adaptation) spoke about his evolving career and cultural connections during an interview at the Red Sea Film Festival in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. As a juror at the international event, Kim expressed his enthusiasm for the opportunity to witness diverse talent from the region and reflected on his role in fostering global collaborations.
In a conversation with Deadline Studio, Kim recounted how his role in Netflix’s live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender has introduced him to a younger audience. "It’s been exciting to connect with a new generation of fans," he shared. The series has bolstered his already significant appeal, granting him what he humorously referred to as a newfound "cool" factor.

2025 has officially arrived and with the new year ahead, there’s still time to look back on the year that was 2024. It was quite an interesting year for TV fans with the results of the 2023 actors’ and writers’ strikes bleeding into the new year leading to shortened seasons of some of the biggest shows on air and unexpected sendoffs for series that very well could have continued for many more seasons.
When it comes to cancellations, CBS by far had some of the biggest cancellations in broadcast in 2024 bringing a close to so many amazing shows including a handful of shows that very much remained at the top of the leaderboard in viewership. Fans were incredibly vocal about some of the choices CBS made, but The Eye network wasn’t the only network that made some difficult decisions leading to the end of a batch of amazing shows.

A new report underlines the fact that Blue Bloods season 14 drew stronger ratings than the show that will replace it in the timeslot. After a run that lasted for well over a decade, with a total of 293 episodes, Blue Bloods season signed off in December. The police procedural's last run has proven to be a lightning rod, not for any particular storyline decision, but more so for the fact that CBS decided to end the popular drama despite its consistently strong performance with viewers.
TVLine looked at the top-rated shows on broadcast television midway through the 2024-2025 TV season. Blue Bloods season 14 came in sixth, emerging as broadcast's fourth most-watched drama. Including the Live+7 numbers, which account for ratings across seven days, season 14 drew an average of 7.9 million viewers. The final season drew 0.46 in the key 18-49 demographic. Overall, it ranks as sixth amongst all the shows (scripted and reality) aired by CBS.

Now that 2024 has come to a close, it’s official, Netflix once again handed out the most cancellations in the calendar year – though at this point, I don’t think anyone will find this surprising. While the streaming platform has gotten better as the years have gone by in giving shows final seasons and the chances to establish themselves with audiences, the streaming platform continues to have some of the biggest cancellation rates in the business and 2024 was no different.
In total, Netflix canceled 16 shows in 2024 while also handing six additional shows their walking papers with final season orders which are about as close to cancellations as you can get the only difference being that those lucky six shows will get to actually wrap up their runs with proper sendoffs. So when you combine the two groups, Netflix decided to end a whopping 22 shows in 2024 be it by canceling them directly or ordering final seasons.

Network TV offered high-quality entertainment in 2024 despite some challenges, and its best episodes are proof of that. Hollywood's dual writers' and actors' strikes in late 2023 delayed the start of the 2023-2024 television season, but when the strikes were settled, the shortened spring 2024 season gave us some of the all-time best TV shows. This period saw many memorable episodes airing, including the finales of long-running shows such as The Good Doctor and additions to new hits like Found.
The fall TV season was not marred by these problems, though budget cuts after the strikes meant saying goodbye to extremely popular shows such as Blue Bloods. The disappointing Blue Bloods cancelation news was offset by the return of popular franchises like Law & Order and One Chicago, along with exciting new shows. Kathy Bates' Matlock was surprisingly successful, and all three networks offered a brilliant mix of new and old programming that...
