The movie moved along reasonably well. I was pleased at the decent acting. I was ready to actually like this movie but the actions at the end changed my mind. Then it went downhill. Was the hammer made of rubber? Was that a rubber shovel too? Why didn't the mom shoot the brother? If your daughter was in imminent danger, would you have a pointless discussion or would you shoot him? The entire sheriff election was not necessary. It really had no bearing whether the mom or the other guy was the sheriff. I enjoyed the realistic location scenes versus fake sets. Ultimately, I was entertained.

Lin my opinion this movies shows Pretty (white) privilege, I'm pretty sure if they finished the movie the main character (the girl) would only get a small amount of time because she was getting blackmailed. So she had a reason of killing. I don't like the fact that the mom said "it's not your fault", like what!!! Yes it is. It was wrong for the boy to blackmail but, you should have just told the truth in the beginning, she got her friend killed too!!

This Lifetime thriller is a notch above the usual. A nasty boy threatens to text compromising pictures of the girl he is hooking up with but in their struggle he falls to his death. Complicating things the girl is the sheriff's daughter. After she disposes of the body with the help of another girl he has been blackmailing to sleep with him, things start to get out of hand. The twists and turns are quite good and keep things interesting. Acting is good with a well cast mother and daughter who look like they could be related.

The final showdown isn't that predictbale but yet it's logical and makes sense. A litle bit left unexplained at the end. Could have done with a bit more follow up on how things got cleared up.

In a Lifetime film, it is always risky for a character to be standing at the top rung of a stairwell while arguing with another character. In the case of "Overexposed," it is young Taylor Cowls who topples down the stairs and breaks his neck while threatening to blackmail Erin Prescott in her own home.

Suspense was added to film when we learn that Erin is the daughter of the sheriff of Grassford County. In an early scene, Erin nearly confesses to her mom over the phone that she accidentally killed Taylor. But she hesitates, then decides to bury the body with assistance from her friend Jo, who was also on the receiving end of Taylor's blackmail threats.

The strength of the screenplay was in the strong character developments, including Erin, her mom Sheriff Sheila, and the highly competitive deputy, Stuart Shelby. Stuart and Sheila are vying for sheriff in the upcoming election, and the pressure is on Sheila to solve mysterious death of Taylor. Of course, Sheila has no idea that her daughter did the deed.

The most interesting twist in the film was when Erin begins a romantic relationship with Jimmy Cowls, the older brother of the man she killed. It was the most improbable bonding imaginable, yet the actors somehow made it credible.

The film was crisply directed, and there was an outstanding set of outdoor locations. The small town ambience was effectively created. There were also some wickedly ironic moments, such as the appearance of the smirking Jo during the funeral of Taylor. The levity ended when Jo disappears and is found murdered. It is now up to Erin and her devoted mom to find a resolution to the tragic tumble down the stairs taken by Taylor Cowls.
  • Typical lifetime teenage thriller but worth the watch

This is one of the many LMN movies that teach their viewers a life lesson, but there were several plot holes and flaws that I must point out here. I mainly gave it 8 out of 10 stars because they never pointed out how Erin's friend (I don't remember her name) suddenly died in her car. Why was she killed? Who did it? I have no idea. There is also another big plot in which Erin buries Taylor's body after she accidentally kills him when she tried getting her phone back from him. Any person in this type of situation would just call the police or an ambulance to get help, but I guess she was still in shock after his accidental death, but still. I wish they got somebody else to play Erin because her acting was so stiff and wooden she was like one of those mannequins you see in malls. I did like the acting by jimmy though, and he was the complete opposite of Erin, completely full of emotion in his acting. If not for those three complaints, I would've given this 9/10 stars
