The popularity of Miles Morales as Spider-Man has exploded into the mainstream with Sony’s Spider-Verse films and Insomniacs Spider-Man game, leading many to wonder who could play the character in live-action as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Since 2002’s Spider-Man, the character of Peter Parker has been the sole live-action version of Spider-Man across Sony’s franchises and Marvel Studios’ iteration of the web-slinger. However, with Miles only growing more popular thanks to the aforementioned properties, it is only a matter of time before the MCU includes its own variation of Miles’ Spider-Man.
Aside from Miles’ growing popularity, the MCU has included subtle hints that he could be introduced in the future. From Donald Glover’s appearance in Spider-Man: Homecoming as Aaron Davis - Miles Morales’ uncle - to the tongue-in-cheek comment of Electro’s in Spider-Man: No Way Home that "There's gotta be a Black Spider-Man somewhere...

Selling a high-tech umbrella, the two are in the middle of their presentation when Terrie turns on her phone to demonstrate the umbrella’s tracking device and sees a text from her boyfriend breaking up with her. Suddenly speechless, she breaks the cardinal rule of live television, “No Dead Air,” and although David steps in to help,...

At just 11 years old, singer and actor Jd McCrary has accomplished more than your average preteen. The Los Angeles native has sung the National Anthem at an NBA game, has performed on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, and has multiple acting credits, with appearances on Disney Channel's K.C. Undercover, Tyler Perry's The Paynes, and the film Little - in which he acted alongside Black-ish star Marsai Martin. But his upcoming role as young Simba in the Jon Favreau-directed reboot of The Lion King is arguably his biggest break yet.
There's no audacious backstory about how McCrary became involved with the film. It was simple: his manager told his mom about the opportunity, and his mom encouraged him to audition for it. After doing a self-tape while in Atlanta, he received two more callbacks before he landed the role. "It was a really great moment for me," he...

Disney's Summer release of The Lion King remake is fast approaching, and perhaps one of the most exciting parts about the film is the all-star cast. Between Donald Glover, Beyoncé, James Earl Jones, and Seth Rogen, there are a ton of talents that will be lending their voices to the beloved characters. But there's another up and coming actor and singer that you should definitely have on your radar: Jd McCrary. The 11-year-old will be portraying young Simba, and although you don't hear him yet in the movie's first official trailer, you might recognize his voice from a number of other projects.
One of McCrary's most recent appearances is in the new film Little where he stars alongside 14-year-old Black-ish actress and history-making producer Marsai Martin. In the movie, he attends the middle school Marsai's character is sent to after she magically turns into a little girl.

Jackée Harry is opening up about an alleged violent run-in she had with Eartha Kitt over the late singer’s boyfriend.
On Wednesday, Harry, 62, responded to a tweet, which asked “what’s the most surreal encounter you’ve had with someone famous?”
Harry wrote, “Eartha Kitt slapped the f— outta me!”
“She thought I was sleeping with her boyfriend,” Harry revealed.
The Sister Sister star then went on to explain that she actually was having sex with Kitt’s beau, but had no idea they were together.
“I didn’t know he was taken,” Harry tweeted, adding a broken heart emoji.

It was just about a year ago when, at the 2018 Grammy Awards, Jd McCrary — 10 at the time — joined Childish Gambino on stage at Madison Square Garden. After he impressed the A-list crowd with his part in their 2017 collaboration, “Terrified”, the internet clamored for details. Just who was the powerhouse vocalist whose tone bears a striking similarity to a young Stevie? Also like the legendary Mr. Wonder, who signed with Motown at age 11, McCrary has made history as the youngest person to land a recording contract at Disney’s Hollywood label. He turns 12 in July.
You could say McCrary made an appearance at last week’s Oscars, too, with the debut of the trailer for the Disney remake of “The Lion King,” due out in July. McCrary provides the voice of “Young Simba” in the animated feature, and perhaps not so coincidentally, Gambino (aka Donald Glover) voices “Adult Simba.” And while...

Disney has sneakily released the first teaser trailer for Jon Favreau’s live-action ‘The Lion King’.
Lions rule the African savanna in The Lion King, which welcomes Donald Glover as future king Simba, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter as Simba’s friend-turned-love interest Nala, and James Earl Jones as Simba’s wise and loving father, Mufasa, reprising his iconic performance from Disney’s 1994 animated classic.
Chiwetel Ejiofor was called on to portray Simba’s villainous uncle Scar, and Alfre Woodard portrays Simba’s no-nonsense mother, Sarabi. Jd McCrary fills the shoes of Young Simba, a confident cub who can’t wait to be king, and Shahadi Wright Joseph brings tough cub Young Nala to life.
Every kingdom comes with a trustworthy advisor or two. John Kani was cast as the wise baboon Rafiki, and John Oliver was tapped as hornbill Zazu, Mufasa’s loyal confidant. When Simba goes into exile, he relies on...

Disney surprised everyone for Thanksgiving with a first look at their upcoming live-action remake of The Lion King. The first trailer and poster dropped today, showing what looks like a scene-for-scene recreation of the classic 1994 animated adventure. Directed by Jon Favreau, this beautiful CGI-animated retelling will be in theaters July 19, 2019.
From Disney Live Action, director Jon Favreau's all-new The Lion King journeys to the African savanna where a future king must overcome betrayal and tragedy to assume his rightful place on Pride Rock. The teaser recreates the opening scene from the original Lion King almost beat for beat with Rafiki lifting baby Simba on Pride Rock, showing the youngster off to the rest of the animal kingdom. As this plays out, we get to hear James Earl Jones, who returns from the original to reprise his role as Simba's loving and wise father Mufasa, providing narration for the trailer.

After well over a year of haggling, Hulu clinched a pact with Discovery to bring five of the cabler’s networks to Hulu’s live-streaming internet TV lineup along with thousands of on-demand episodes.
The companies had been in talks on an agreement since before Hulu launched its over-the-top streaming TV service in May 2017.
The multiyear deal will bring five additional Discovery networks to Hulu With Live TV, set to be available to subscribers starting in December 2018: Discovery Channel, TLC, Investigation Discovery, Motor Trend (the rebranded Velocity) and Animal Planet. Hulu has an existing distribution pact with Scripps Networks Interactive — now owned by Discovery — for Hgtv, Food Network and Travel Channel.
Under the pact, Hulu will boost its on-demand lineup with Discovery shows, expanding to nearly 4,000 episodes from the non-fiction programmer. Hulu will be the exclusive subscription streaming home for several unscripted Discovery shows, including “Deadliest Catch” (pictured above), “Say Yes to the Dress,...

I think it's funny when people refer to Disney's upcoming remake of The Lion King as "live-action" because technically most of the film is being created with CG animation technology and there's not going to be a lot of live-action stuff in the movie. It will be more photorealistic CG work, but there will be some live-action stuff in the Jon Favreau-directed movie!
Below you'll find a few photos posted on Twitter giving us our first look at the character Mufasa in the movie who is being voiced by the great James Earl Jones. The photos come along with a note that confirms the movie will use a mix of CGI and animatronics to bring the movie to life. This first look at Mufasa is one of the animatronic lions that was built for the film.
I've gotta say, Mufasa looks great! You can check out the photos...

On the 2018 Emmy Awards nominations ballot, TV academy voters must consider a whopping 117 comedy series; that is up from 104 last year. Until last year, Emmy voters could pick only 10 comedies on their nomination ballots. Now, the TV academy tells its members to “Vote for as many achievements in this category that you have seen and feel are worthy of a nomination.”
Remember, only seven of the shows below will earn bids for Best Comedy Series when the nominations are announced on July 12. And with HBO’s two-time reigning champ “Veep” out of the running, we are guaranteed to have a new winner this year. Will it be one of last year’s other six nominees: “Atlanta,” “Black-ish,” “Master of None,” “Modern Family,” “Silicon Valley” or “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt”? Or will a rookie contender make it to the stage on September 17?

Heading into the fall, multi-camera comedies are poised to have their biggest season in years on broadcast television. The Big Four have ordered eight multi-cams among them for the 2018-19 season, up from just four the year before.
The format can trace its roots back to the first days of television, with some of the biggest and most celebrated series in history being multi-cams: “Seinfeld,” “Friends,” “Cheers,” “All in the Family,” “I Love Lucy” among many others.
Yet despite their proven track record, and the fact they are notably cheaper to produce than single-camera comedies, most networks and streaming services outside broadcast have long shied away from multicams.
There are exceptions, of course, including Tyler Perry’s “The Paynes” on Own or children’s shows on Disney Channel and Nickelodeon. But beyond that, the pickings get slim. Comedy Central, for example, airs no multi-cams. The same for goes for TBS,...

Director Jon Favreau has assembled quite an incredible cast of actors for Disney's realistic CGI animated remake of The Lion King. Most of the actors on the list we've already known about, but the one big confirmation is that Beyonce will officially be providing the voice of Nala. Here's the synopsis that was released:
From Disney Live Action, director Jon Favreau’s all-new “The Lion King” journeys to the African savanna where a future king is born. Simba idolizes his father, King Mufasa, and takes to heart his own royal destiny. But not everyone in the kingdom celebrates the new cub’s arrival. Scar, Mufasa’s brother—and former heir to the throne—has plans of his own. The battle for Pride Rock is ravaged with betrayal, tragedy and drama, ultimately resulting in Simba’s exile. With help from a curious pair of newfound friends, Simba will have to figure...

Disney has made it official! Here is the cast and the release date for Jon Favreau's upcoming live-action version of The Lion King!
Disney ended the day the only way they know how, with a bombshell. That bombshell comes in the form of the long-awaited release date for Jon Favreau's Live-Action adaptation of The Lion King. Citizens of the United States and Disney fans across the country will see Simba's journey on the big screen on July 19, 2019.
Unfortunately, that's a bit longer than most of us would like, but if it's anything like Favreau's last Disney film, the wait will be well worth it. Favreau's last film was a little diddy called The Jungle Book, which amassed over $966 million. It's understood that The Lion King will follow in that same vein, in terms of production. Also following what made The Jungle Book great was an all-star cast of voices.
