This is not a perfect movie. But everything is special, the cinematography is kind unusual but beautiful. The lead characters are not the usual leads you can see in a typical Filipino romantic- comedy. The poetry type of telling of the characters experience is witty and beautiful. Everything is humorous and all the funny parts are done naturally. Until Empoy (male lead) became too creepy for me, no matter how touching the story is, we can't take away the truth that he is a a stalker. I actually lost my interest when I realized this in the last quarter of the movie. Until.. Until.. the ending.

I expected so much in this movie with all the tweets and Facebook posts I read that's why I was questioning myself, where's the part everyone is posting about, where's the part where I should cry because except of the fun feeling, the part where the male lead character died didn't even moved me.

And out of nowhere, I grab tissues from my bag because the tears are about to flow, I can't help it anymore. That ending part made me realized that it doesn't matter if he actually stalked her.. the important thing is that she loves him, but he left her, and she'd rather choose to be blind again so that she can see him.

I cried like baby. and hours after the movie, even days after the movie it still hurts deep inside me. I watched to many movies before but never, never did I experience something like that in an ending part. That ending scene is very emotional and very meaningful. The symbolism of what she did didn't throw away the need of crying or shouting to move people. *clap *clap *clap

I'm praying for more movies like this in the future.
  • It is a short movie with only about 1.5hours and it is simple... Throughout the movie there is just 2 cast members and maybe 2-3 guest roles but it still grips you and is worth a watch if you are seeking a romantic flick
  • To be fair, I haven't seen many foreign films (I'm from the US), but this is something special, and not like too many other films I've seen.

Without spoiling anything, I will simply say that this is a film with a distinct and consistent style, which is very refreshingly different from most romance films. It is ultimately a very nice drama, and well told at that! Yes, it's a romance but it makes for an interesting watch even if the viewer was looking for an interesting drama.

The casting here is excellent, and I was struck by the captured realism depicted from the very first couple scenes, which merely depict the primary character as a regular person with a regular story. The story is character-focused, and it is quite satisfying to watch it all play out.

I can easily recommend this film to anyone.

Spoiler Alert: Tissues are a must we often see love stories played by the most gorgeous actors possible, but not this one. This proves that a captivating story is the essence of making a great film. Furthermore, the film proves that you do not need a stellar cast to make an impact. The most packs a chemistry beyond the cliche's of a typical romance film. It is captivating to the senses and will make a full grown man cry like a five year old. Only a handful of movies in my lifetime has able to make me cry a river. Phenomenal!

    Warning: Spoilers
I was captivated by the trailer alone since the two of them are a great actor and actress. This movie is not fantasy but can happen in real life. In the trailer, you can see that it is romantic comedy and not pure drama but when you actually watched the scene where Lea (Alessandra De Rossi) is now having a vision and she saw Tonyo (Empoy Marquez), it will break your heart as if it was torn apart without your consent and starting to make you cry. It was an unexpected twist in the movie that is difficult to guess. For me the lesson that I have learned watching this movie is that there will always be someone better when the person you loved the most leaves you. The Ost is amazing and it is perfectly matched in every scenes. Every time you will hear the song 'Two less lonely people in the world' which was always played in the radio, it will always remind you the movie kita kita which represents that this movie captivates the hearts of the viewers and will not easily be forgotten. Kudos to the writer and the director especially the casts of this movie. You made the whole nation proud and Congratulations.
  • It's a fairly good film to watch along with your girlfriend/boyfriend and if you are in a romantic mood. Nothing special, not so bad. I agree with a review about this film that makes stalking romantic. Made me laugh. The ending is so predictable. While watching I was saying to myself: now here we go, X will happen, and X happened.
  • This is truly one of the best Filipino Romance movies. Remarkable acting, exceptional storytelling, brilliant storytelling and an outstanding ending. This is not your typical love story. Bravo to the team behind this.
  • Kita Kita (I See You) is a wildly successful rom-com indie movie starring Alessandra De Rossi and Empoy Marquez. Had it been released in the 2016 edition of the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), it would have been in good company with many regarding it as the best roster of the festival in recent years. It was pulled out because of additional re-editing that needs to be done. Released seven months after, the producers were only hoping to breakeven amidst expectation of next day pullouts from the cinemas. P320 million after and dislodging 'Heneral Luna' as the most successful independent film, it even has inspired an Indonesian version. With the idyllic Sapporo as background, the sunshine-y disposition of Lea (De Rossi) becomes clouded when she suffers from temporary blindness due to extreme stress. Her neighbor Tonyo (Marquez) insistently tries to befriend her and being the only two Pinoys in the area, one can't help but give in which opened up a whole new world for her even if she's going to places she's already been to, not even seeing a single thing due to her affliction. De Rossi took on the role because she wanted to do something "light", having been associated mostly with heavy drama. Marquez was charming as the never-say-die suitor, effectively showing us that personality trump looks, and sense of humor is the way to a woman's heart. The only issue that needs to be discussed is the stalking part. While yes Tonyo had good intentions, some would argue that the end doesn't justify the means. Others will say there's nothing different from what Tonyo did when compared to someone who would camp out on a person's social media platforms. In fact, privacy in this interconnected world has devolved from being a reality to a concept. During the last flashback scenes, there was a mixed feeling of unease and comfort. Wherever you may side about this, it's never wrong to show kindness especially to those who need it whether they see that they need it or not.
  • The plot is unique. You can't predict what are the back stories

Kita Kita is unconventional. The producers took the risk of presenting something unusual. To everyone's surprise that so-called "unconventional" worked wonders!

Casting actor and comedian Empoy Marquez alongside the beautiful and talented actress Alessandra De Rossi is the best decision ever. Sure Marquez is not the cute guy next door but the role given to him and his portrayal made everyone fall for him. It's also worth mentioning that Marquez and De Rossi has an incredible chemistry making their "AlEmpoy" love team a huge hit.

Besides unconventional, Kita Kita is also absolutely beautiful – visually and emotionally. While touring the beautiful Sapporo, we know that there is a grand plan at the end. Kita Kita prepared us by giving a simple path to follow. As we slowly take it, we learn more and more about the characters gaining a deeper understanding of their life, friendship and love.

Sigrid Bernardo's Kita Kita proves that unconventional can also be beautiful.

I think the title of the review pretty much sums up the story. I didn't find either main character likable enough to have empathy for them. And the whole premise is that the girl is supposed to fall in love with a guy that is a persistent stalker just as long as he keeps pushing himself on her in a "romantic" fashion. Not really a great message to send to women.

I'm "fatigued" with Filipino Romantic movies. I don't think they're bad, I actually think they're pretty good. But they rely too much on two things: a a cliched story and the chemistry between their leads. "Kita Kita" is different.

This movie relied on script, great story, drama and the leads' chemistry and ability to act as dramatic and comedic actors. I loved that the story established who Lea is. It lets you understand her position. After Lea became blind, the romantic-comedic elements of the film enter and they were VERY ROMANTIC AND VERY FUNNY. They really worked and because of that, the scene at the 56-minute mark totally destroyed me.

I LOVE THIS MOVIE AND I WILL WATCH IT AGAIN AND AGAIN.

Sorry, spoilers. lots of them. i watched/read subtitles this movie with my pinay wife. she cried at the end, i was upset at the manipulation of the guy who died, tonyo. i wouldnt have believed it even if it was a fact by fact true story. especially the bicycle riding scene. a bike built for two would have been better. if the guy has to die, after he said he had a heart condition only then to get hit by a truck just seemed silly. i would have enjoyed him getting hit if she got to nurse him back to health after he nursed her back to health. or if he was to die no matter what then please leave out the previous heart break introduction of the movie.

one other reviewer complained of stalking. how so? she found him first, gave him food and encouraged him to pick himself up. even if he was to shy to say anything at the bar, she makes connection to him both times. she goes blind and he goes to her place with food, his turn to help her pick herself up. the next part i didnt like when he dont properly introduce himself. after all, she already knows him. it would have made the story stronger and the heart ache more sincere even if the letter was still written and read exactly the same way only changing for not being a secret. that part kinda made is silly and weaker.

other than that, it was a very intelligently written movie. smartly planed out and joyfully scripted. the acting, directing and production was of high value. sorry that the story points i made ruined it for me.
  • This movie shows the abilities and skills of the characters because Alessandra De Rosi and Empoy known as joker but then in the movie you saw their love for their job and their passionately hug their character on the movie that's why the movie get's high gross or ratings.

For the story of this movie, it is so funny and painful because in this they show on how to gives smile and hope to a person who is hopeless because of her circumstances in life because in this movie we saw that Alessandra De Rosi is blinded but the man which is Empoy is always helping her and love her with no doubt in his heart.

It has many lessons like everybody should be loved and treat equally even what they are and learn to appreviate to something or someone.

For the place of the movie it is good that they try something new place to shoot not only here in the Philippines but then they take shootings to Japan and for me it is not a very common place that always taking shooting.

For the whole movie. I loved it very much and I am waiting for the second chapter of this movie. I hope it will have.

This movie is one of the painful but funny and captivating movie I've watched so far. It is a good movie because not everyone fall in love with a person you doesn't know personally. The chemistry of the lead characters are really good and the flow of the movie was really great because they connect the scenes that you didn't know how that thing happened, they connect it so you can understand who is that person and why that thing happened. It is a romantic comedy movie. This movie make me laugh when Tonyo (Empoy) and Lea (Alessandra) drink alcoholic beverages and do some little crazy thing. The ending is not a usual ending to a RomCom movie and I don't like the ending because I don't understand why Tonyo died when Lea becomes totally fine that she can see him already and why it is not a happy ending. This is not a typical movie where in the leading man is a guy next door but Tonyo's (Empoy) role or his potrayal can make everyone fall for him. The trailer was too captivated that you will confused what happened so you will watch. The plot is unique because you cannot predict what will happen and how the back stories become connected also the ending is not expected. The theme song of the movie Two less lonely People made me sad when I hear because it reminds me of Lea and Tonyo. The cinematography is beautiful and this movie will make you realize that not all love story has a happy ending.

I love this movie, you must watch this!

Some people don't believe in angels. I believe there are some angels you can't see, and there are some angels you can. This is a beautiful, touching story of two "angels" : Lea and Tonyo, and how they are able to be there for each other.

Both are two people living in Japan. Lea has found out that her fiance has been seeing another woman. The stress and trauma has robbed her of her eyesight. The doctors tell her that it is, more than likely, only temporary.

Enter Tonyo, a man who lives across the street. His first attempts of opening communication with Lea are failures. But, he doesn't give up. He has a certain wit and charm that finally wins over Lea, and they begin spending time together. Tonyo knows exactly what to say to get a laugh out of Lea.

There are a couple of plot twists that I doubt anyone will be able to see coming, and the writers need to be given credit for pulling off such a feat, as it seems that more and more writers today either don't dare try, or it ends up not working at all.

What the movie is ultimately about, is kindness, and how a single gesture can work miracles. I think most people underestimate a single, kind act. And how, much like a small pebble, it can send ripples across a lake. The beauty of this film is that we don't see the end results of the acts of kindness of Lea and Tonyo until the end.

The film is beautifully filmed and the actors are simply incredible. The chemistry between Alessandra De Rossi and Empoy Marquez is undeniable. They are the ones that make the film work.

This is one of those little gems (much like a small pebble) that once you see it, you will feel the effects for a long time to come!

    Here's why this movie sucked and why you should be discerning of those positive reviews;

From the get-go this was going to be a movie of heartbreak and finding love. As it's a Filipino movie, I didn't expect any deep representation of love.

The description says that Empoy bonds with Lea through love and kindness but his actions ring him more of a stalker. Crooning in the morning and getting her to eat the food he cooks for her as well as being physically assertive with her. I know it is done by jest but it gives the wrong impression, that Lea is so desperate to be loved that she would take someone in just because he's the only one who's aggressive with his intentions. Really wrong.

It was suppose to be sweet. But what I hate about some of the depictions of love in these romance movies is that they always seem to depict 'love' when it's all easy, all flirting and fun and games.

The only time he became likeable was during the really really long flashback (this movie relies a lot on flashbacks and memories to gain more background into what is going on). He turned from deadbeat to shaped up man because Lea had been taking care of him when he was dirty and unrecognizable. That was suppose to be the grand reveal. This movie suffers structural issues. There needn't be so much use if flashbacks to create an emotional connection. The 'love' between them would have been more emotionally impactful and he would seem less predatory if this was shown in the beginning as a build up. So much left to be desired.

Not that bad but over rated. I would have given it 6 but the ending is so damn guessable...Nevertheless is much better than many other romantic comedy that my wife made me watch.
