Circa 1969, several strangers, most with a secret to bury, meet by chance at Lake Tahoe's El Royale, a rundown hotel with a dark past. Over the course of one night, everyone will show their true colors - before everything goes to hell.
Two songs by The Crystals figure prominently in association with the character Darlene Sweet. The character is shown to be a studio singer backing on a recording of "He's a Rebel". Later at the jukebox she selects "He's Sure the Boy I Love". It is notable that both are singles by The Crystals in which real life singer Darlene Love sang lead.

Stockton, California's elevation is 13 feet above sea level. Not only is snow almost impossible, there are no significant elevations within 40 miles of the city. The snow and the hills surrounding the city are incongruities.
There are almost no opening credits. Only the film's title is shown after the first scene.
