“Stealth” is being developed at Universal and Skybound Entertainment and is based on an upcoming comic from Skybound/Image. Daniels will direct and produce from a script by Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, who wrote the original “Iron Man” and “Cowboys & Aliens.”
Issue #1 of “Stealth” launches on Mar. 11, 2020, and it tells the story of a superhero and crime fighter who has been protecting Detroit for years. But now he’s taken his pursuit of justice too far. Only reporter Tony Barber knows that behind Stealth’s reckless behavior is an older man battling Alzheimer’s–his father. A father unwilling to accept that he’s no longer the hero this city needs…...

Backstage at this year’s Academy Awards ceremony, after she received the Oscar for costume design for “Black Panther,” Ruth E. Carter talked about the significance of her win for other costume designers of color coming behind her. “Finally the door is wide open and I’ve been struggling and digging deep and mentoring and doing whatever I could to raise others up,” she said. “And I hope through my example, this means that there is hope and other people can come on in and win an Oscar just like I did.”
The costume design world has never been the most inclusive. When Carter entered the business, she had few African American role models to emulate. When asked to list black costume designers who were working when she got her start, she name-checks only the late Palmer Brown, who designed for television series like “Gimme a Break!” and “A Different World.

The 12th edition of the festival will unspool from 29 November-2 December, showcasing movies by Filip Bajon, Jan Komasa, Jagoda Szelc, Adrian Panek and Jacek Borcuch. The period film The Butler by Filip Bajon, which won two Eagles (the Polish film industry’s annual national awards) this spring, scooped the Silver Lions at the Gdynia Film Festival, and portrays the intertwined destinies of a Polish family between 1900 and 1945 in the north of the Kashubia region, will tomorrow open the 12th edition of Kinopolska, out of competition and in the presence of its director. Every year, the festival, which will unspool in Paris from 29 November-2 December, in the Le Balzac cinema, just off the Champs-Elysées, trains its spotlight on the sheer diversity of Polish film output, which sometimes finds it tricky to secure decent distribution in France (apart from big names such as Pawel Pawlikowski). Interestingly, Filip Bajon will...

On July 15, 2019, Oscar-winning actor Forest Whitaker will celebrate his 58th birthday. The actor has had a long and celebrated acting career though initially he aspired to be an opera singer. He enrolled at the University of Southern California to study opera but then changed his major to acting and graduated from the school with a Bfa in Drama.
While still enrolled in college, Whitaker began acting professionally. His first film role came in a movie called “Tag: The Assassination Game,” which starred Robert Carradine and Linda Hamilton. That same year he would get a small role in a movie about high school students that would become a classic. He joined a cast of unknown actors including Sean Penn, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Judge Reinhold and Phoebe Cates in “Fast Times at Ridgemont High.” The film was a bit of a sleeper hit in 1982 but became a classic through repeated showings on cable TV.

If you’ve ever seen an interview with filmmaker Lee Daniels, you know that he’s not the type to bite his tongue. He has bravado and confidence that seemingly explains why his films have such a raw and unique feel to them. When you watch a film by Lee Daniels, you know you’re going to be in for a pretty wild experience. But, then you have “The Butler,” which throws the whole theory out of the window.

Exclusive: Dr. Jackson Avery is sticking around Seattle Grace Mercy West Hospital. Grey’s Anatomy star Jesse Williams has inked a new two-contract to continue on the hit ABC medical drama.
Williams was the only major Grey’s Anatomy cast member without a deal beyond this season when ABC in May gave the series a record-breaking renewal for Seasons 16 and 17 with leading lady Ellen Pompeo set for both seasons, along with the other original Grey’s actors. In addition to a salary raise, I hear the negotiations between Williams and Grey’s Anatomy producer ABC Studios involved his availability.
Williams is set to make his Broadway debut in the upcoming Second Stage Theater revival of Richard Greenberg’s Take Me Out, which will begin performances April 2, 2020, ahead of an April 23 opening.

Jesse Williams, a star of ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy, will make his Broadway debut in next year’s revival of Richard Greenberg’s Tony Award-winning 2002 play Take Me Out.
Earlier this spring, news reports surfaced that Jussie Smollett had read for the role but been bypassed following his attack-hoax scandal. A source close to the production confirmed to Deadline at the time that Smollett had indeed read for the role in January just before the hoax incident but that no casting decisions had ever been made. At the time, Zachary Quinto had read for a co-starring role.
The Second Stage Theatre production, to be directed by Scott Ellis (Tootsie), will begin previews April 2, 2020, at Second Stage’s Hayes Theater, with an official opening on April 23. No casting beyond Williams was announced today.
