Speaking about the black-and-white release of the film, Bong Joon Ho hoped that with the colors gone, viewers could see more clearly the contrast in living conditions between the rich and poor families.
She may look like a sheep, but inside, she's a fox. Sometimes she acts like she owns the house.
Kim Ki-woo: Right. Of all the people in that house, she's lived there the longest. She was housekeeper to the architect Namgoong, but then she went on to work for ...
Chung-sook, Ki-taek's wife: ...
(at around 1h 30 mins) When the Kims are sneaking out of the house while the Parks are sleeping they are barefoot. When seen running home they have their shoes. If they had left their shoes at the entrance the Parks would likely have noticed them. It would be more likely they would have left them in the garage.
Also available in a black-and-white version. Instead of opting for a simple digital bleaching, Bong Joon Ho worked with a colorist and cinematographer to make sure each scene retained its texture.
