A recent rumor claimed that It Ends With Us star Brandon Sklenar could be on Marvel Studios' radar to play Richard Rider in the upcoming Nova series, but if there's any truth to it, the actor isn't prepared to confirm anything.
Sklenar admitted that he did hear about rumor while chatting to The Playlist, but said any potential Nova talks were "news to" him. However, he did reveal that he does have a meeting with Marvel Studios' Kevin Feige on his agenda.
"Yeah, I heard about that. It was news to me. I think I was supposed to meet with [Marvel Studios/Marvel Television] at some point here… with [Kevin] Feige. We’ll see. That would be cool.”
Sklenar's name might be familiar even if you haven't seen It Ends With Us, as the actor is a popular fan-pick to play the Dcu's Batman and has expressed interest in suiting-up as...

“Captain America: Brave New World” proves that Marvel hasn’t lost its mojo. The fourth “Captain America” installment, and first in which Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson takes up the star-spangled shield, delivered a mighty $100 million in its domestic debut over the extended Presidents Day weekend. The film added another $92.4 million overseas for a $192.4 million global tally, easily the best start of the (nascent) year.
Yet opening weekends are rarely a problem for Disney’s Marvel Cinematic Universe. To wit: All 35 films in the sprawling comic book franchise have launched to No. 1, even the ones described by critics as a “pile of dirt.” So in the case of “Captain America: Brave New World,” all eyes will be on the staying power — industry parlance for how a movie’s ticket sales hold (or don’t) in the subsequent weekends on the big screen. That’s of paramount concern because the all-powerful...

The MCU movie, however, stayed above The Marvels’ $4.2 million opening day. It also experienced a strong 65.8% walk-up business on Friday during the day.
Captain America: Brave New World started with negative word-of-mouth and added $765K in pre-sales for yesterday. According to Luiz Fernando’s report, the film collected only $3.3 million on Saturday,...

Dave Bautista opened up about what it would take for him to play Drax in another Marvel movie.
The 56-year-old actor made his MCU debut playing Drax alongside Chris Pratt and Zoe Saldana in 2014′s Guardians of the Galaxy.
He made his most recent appearance in 2023′s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. As it stands, Dave has no plans to reprise the character. However, there is one thing that would get him to reconsider.
Keep reading to find out more…
“Drax is completely closed to me. Unless James Gunn called me and asked if I would do something as Drax again, I just wouldn’t be interested,” he told ComicBook.com. “If James called me, which obviously is not gonna happen. He’s doing okay, he’s gone a different route.”
If you were unaware, James directed the Guardians movies but has since become the co-head of DC and is fronting their film franchise.

It began with 2008’s “Iron Man,” a film that introduced the world to Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark with the hint that he could be part of something greater. Over 30 films later, the story of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is still being told, albeit with various tributaries and detours that introduce new characters and new worlds that may or may not cross paths one day. Each film in the MCU stands on its own to some degree, but like building blocks, they all connect as part of one interconnected universe. And in that way, watching the Marvel movies in order tells one grand story.
There are a couple of different ways to watch the Marvel movies in order, but below we run down how to watch the MCU in chronological and release date order. Indeed, some films like “Captain Marvel” and “Captain America: The First Avenger” are full-on prequels...

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 wrapped up James Gunn's trilogy and, if Marvel Studios should choose to retire the team, the stories of these characters as well. The door was left open for the "Legendary" Star-Lord to return, though, and Rocket now leads a new iteration of the Guardians.
As for Drax, he chose to remain on Knowhere with Nebula to raise the children created by The High Evolutionary. While he could quite easily return to action, Dave Bautista has repeatedly made it clear he's done playing the character.
During a recent interview with ComicBook.com, the MCU veteran reiterated that point by once again stating, "Drax is completely closed to me."
He added, "Unless James Gunn called me and asked if I would do something as Drax again, I just wouldn’t be interested. If James called me, which obviously is not gonna happen. He’s doing okay,...

Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy is measuring up like a box office juggernaut in the UK – but in the US, it’s nowhere to be seen. Some thoughts…
It’s Valentine’s weekend. Love is in the air, and so is the delicate waft of a frighteningly large Galaxy chocolate brand partnership. That’s right, Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy is here, in what could be the most perfect combination of film, release date and marketing campaign since Barbie. Pink, it seems, is a real hot ticket – marketing teams, I hope you’re writing this down.
The similarities with Greta Gerwig’s giga-hit don’t end there. In the last week, Odeon and Vue have reported Bridget’s UK pre-sales are outstripping Mattel’s 2023 blockbuster. Mad About The Boy is poised to be the biggest British film of 2025 but – thanks to a pessimistic deal with US streamer Peacock...

Dave Bautista recently told ComicBook.com that he has already contacted James Gunn (who’s heading up DC Studios after directing Bautista in three “Guardians of the Galaxy” movies at Marvel) and the Russo Brothers (the Marvel stalwarts who directed him in “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Endgame”) to express interest in playing a new comic book superhero on the big screen. Bautista formerly played Drax the Destroyer in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but he’s done with that role.
“Drax is completely closed to me,” Bautista said. “Unless James Gunn called me and asked if I would do something as Drax again, I just wouldn’t be interested. If James called me, which obviously is not gonna happen. He’s doing okay, he’s gone a different route [with DC].”
“But I do wanna be in that world,” he continued. “I’m a fan of that world. I’m a fan of comic books and that whole universe.

Dave Bautista believes that Drax's story ends perfectly in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3," which is why he's reluctant to play the character again. He also wants Marvel to cast a new actor as Drax in the event the studio ever makes a solo movie about him -- one that potentially leans into his "Destroyer" persona -- so it's clear he's happy to move on. In short, the former WWE Superstar doesn't want to tarnish Drax's legacy, but he would consider reprising the role if he was asked to by the filmmaker who brought him into the Marvel family.

Regardless of what fans might say, there is no denying that there haven’t been a lot of expectations for Captain America: Brave New World. Paging Sam Wilson! “Captain America: Brave New World” flies to cinemas over the weekend, and Marvel’s latest adventure hopes to thaw an icy box office.
“Captain America: Brave New World,” in which Anthony Mackie’s Avenger takes over the star-spangled shield from Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers, is targeting $80 million to $85 million over the traditional weekend and $90 million to $95 million through the Presidents Day holiday. The tentpole, which cost north of $180 million before marketing, is landing in roughly 4,100 North American theaters.
The film is expected to add another $110 million at the international box office, though it’ll contend in China with “Ne Zha 2,” which has become the highest-grossing release in the country’s history with $1.1 billion and counting, and “Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy,” which is going straight to Peacock in the U.S. but playing theatrically in the rest of the world.

In 2024, Marvel Studios released only one MCU movie, Deadpool & Wolverine, which was a strategic move as the hype for it was too high. It paid off. It collected $1.3 billion worldwide. All told, Marvel Studios will probably be happy to bid farewell to Phase Five of the Marvel Cinematic Universe when its concluding installment, "Thunderbolts*," kicks off the 2025 summer movie season in May. Though there have been a couple of blockbusters in this six-film cycle ("Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" and "Deadpool & Wolverine"), the phase got off to a rough start in 2023 with the critical and commercial disappointment of "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania." It then went on to hit even choppier waters with the box office failure of "The Marvels," leading some to wonder if the McU's spectacular run, which stretches back to 2008's "Iron Man," had finally come to an end.
With Marvel having caught a breather in 2024 with the preordained success of "Deadpool & Wolverine," we'll finally learn just how much (or little) audiences are invested in the ongoing MCU saga when "Captain America: Brave New World...

While the MCU nailed the cinematic universe structure in the 2010s, their movies have always struggled in the visual department. This isn’t surprising as most MCU flicks go through a similar post-production process. Even though this does give them a cohesive nature in terms of visual and camera styles, this often limits the input of a director and cinematographer.

However, in contrast to most MCU flicks, James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy succeeded in distinguishing itself from its peers. Moreover, Gunn already mastered one particular shot from the Fantastic Four: First Steps trailer in Gotg Vol. 3.

If you’re one of the many folks who have watched Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3, you no doubt wiped away a tear or ten when you watched Rocket Raccoon’s tragic backstory play out. But, is his origin the most tragic MCU Original of them all? Indeed, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has dominated cinema for the past decade and a half and has given audiences some of the most memorable on-screen moments in history. Fans have developed close personal relationships with the heroes and characters to the point that they feel as if they’re real people existing in the real world. While that may not be true, it’s still a testament to how emotionally powerful the MCU has become that it allows audiences to empathize and care about completely fictional beings. In that light, part of being a hero (and part of what we love and...

There was a time recently when movie theaters were absolutely jam-packed with superhero movies. The success of the MCU was a game changer for Hollywood, and seemingly every studio wanted in, with virtually all of them investing hundreds of millions into trying to create their own superhero franchise or shared universe. Yet, most recently one term has come up that has started to haunt Hollywood: superhero fatigue. In recent years, movies that seemed like surefire hits began to fail. The MCU had a few under-performers, including Eternals, Ant-Man & the Wasp: Quantumania, and one all-out flop, The Marvels. DC had several flops of their own, including The Flash, Blue Beetle, Shazam: Fury of the Gods, and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. And don’t even get us started on Sony’s Spider-Verse, with Morbius, Madame Web, and most recently Kraven the Hunter earning disastrous box office. Kraven only made $24.9 million domestically,...

The Internet never forgets.
Apparently, Oscar strategists do.
Six years after “Green Book” writer-producer Nick Vallelonga’s old tweet that disparaged Muslims resurfaced in the thick of an awards-season campaign, threatening the film’s Academy Awards prospects, “Emilia Pérez” star Karla Sofía Gascón is under fire for social media posts that took aim at everything from Islam to George Floyd to Oscars diversity. In an unexpected turn of events, Netflix did not vet Gascón’s social media history in advance — nor, it seems, had anyone else associated with the film or the actor — a decision that represents a critical lapse for a major Oscar campaign, according to eight awards veterans and communications executives who spoke with Variety on condition of anonymity.
“We all make mistakes, omissions, but when you know you have a loose cannon like her, you don’t take your eye off the ball especially since anyone in...

We first got confirmation that Marvel Studios was planning to introduce Nova to the Marvel Cinematic Universe back in 2022, and since then, there have been conflicting reports about which medium the project was being developed for.
There was talk of Nova being a movie for quite a while, but we now know that the space-faring hero will actually be making his debut on the small screen after all, and we might know one of the actors Marvel is looking at the for the lead role.
The Hot Mic's Jeff Sneider believes that It Ends With Us star Brandon Sklenar could be on Marvel Studios' radar to play Richard Rider in the upcoming Nova series.
Sklenar's name might be familiar even if you haven't seen It Ends With Us, as the actor is a popular fan-pick to play the Dcu's Batman and has expressed interest in suiting-up as the Dark Knight on more than one occasion.

Dave Bautista’s Past Diet Rule (Photo Credit – Facebook)
Dave Bautista doesn’t play when it comes to his diet—he’s got a next-level clause in his contracts: he has to eat every four hours. No matter the project, the Guardians of the Galaxy star makes sure his stomach’s running on schedule. Power move? Absolutely. Honestly, who wouldn’t want that kind of setup?
But this isn’t about snacking for fun. Bautista’s all about discipline, staying fit, and keeping his focus sharp—especially with a packed slate of movies on deck. Sure, he kicked things off in the WWE ring, but his Hollywood grind needs just as much dedication.
In a 2021 Men’s Health interview, Bautista spilled his snacking secrets—think almond butter, banana, or a vegan, gluten-free grilled cheese. He’s plant-based chiefly but still sneaks in some fish a few times a week. Gotta keep it balanced,...

Venom: The Last Dance Ott Release Update ( Photo Credit – Instagram )
Venom: The Last Dance, starring Tom Hardy, has arrived on one of the most popular streaming platforms and is available for free to its subscribers. The Marvel movie came out last year and had a decent run at the box office. It is probably the only successful 2024 movie to be released in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe. Scroll below for more.
About the film
This is the third installment in the Venom franchise, and the film has collected the lowest financially as well. The superhero movie is the fifth film in Sony’s Spider-Man universe and the directorial debut of Kelly Marcel. She was associated with the previous two movies as well. It opened to mixed reviews with only 41% rating on Rotten Tomatoes’ Tomatometer. However, the audience was much kinder and gave the movie a strong 80% on Popcornmeter.

Disney/Marvel Studios’ Captain America: Brave New World has hit three-weekend tracking with a number that’s similar to what we saw recently, that being $95 million-plus over four days. The movie opens February 14 over the Presidents Day/Valentine’s Day weekend.
Tickets went on sale Monday, and we hear they’re currently pacing 15% behind Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which opened to $118M.4M. They’re also above Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings ($94.6M 4-day) in addition to Black Adam ($67M) and The Flash ($55M).
Demos remain hot with men above and under 25. In addition, the latest Cap is solid with Latino and Black moviegoers. Captain America: Brave New World cost around $180M before P&a.
Among four-day opening records for Presidents Day weekend, Marvel Studios owns the top three with 2018’s Black Panther ($242.1M), Deadpool ($152.1M) and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania ($120.3M). Quantumania posted a three-day total of $106.1M,...

2023 was a tough year for Marvel Studios. The start of the Multiverse Saga didn’t get the reaction they hoped for, and A’nt-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ underperformed. ‘Secret Invasion,’ a highly anticipated show, was poorly received, despite being based on a popular comic storyline. The only hit was ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3,’ while ‘The Marvels’ became the lowest-grossing Marvel movie ever.
Things somewhat recovered last year with the release of ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ and notably, ‘X-Men ’97.’ ‘X-Men ’97’ became the studio’s highest-rated show yet while ‘Deadpool’ threequel was the second-highest-grossing movie of 2024.
It was exactly that success of ‘X-Men ’97’ that prompted speculations that the Studio will focus on more animated content in the future. Well that and the fact that we have 3 animated shows set for release this year, ‘Marvel Zombies,’ ‘Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man,’ and ‘Eyes of Wakanda.’

James Gunn may have gone to the other side and taken over DC Studios, but his stint in blockbuster filmmaking began with Marvel. The director made the runaway hit Guardians of the Galaxy, which firmly established Gunn as a filmmaker with a unique vision, great ability to handle a lesser-known IP, and a killer taste in music.
Gunn’s last stint with the MCU was the 2023 film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3. The film was all the more emotional than its predecessors due to its focus on Rocket’s backstory. The emotional ride was reportedly too much for WWE star Liv Morgan, who admitted to crying the entire time.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe might be the biggest flex in Hollywood, but not every star is lining up for a sequel. Some actors have hung up their capes for good, done with all the spandex and CGI madness. Meanwhile, a few are itching to jump back into the action, practically sliding into Kevin Feige’s DMs for another shot.

Alarum has earned a dismal Rotten Tomatoes score. The new action movie was directed by Michael Polish from a screenplay by Alexander Vesha. It follows a married couple who have escaped their lives as spies and who are being hunted in their isolated cabin by multiple agencies seeking a hard drive they stole, featuring a cast that includes Scott Eastwood, Willa Fitzgerald, Mike Colter, Ísis Valverde, D. James Gunn's Superman trailer included a beautiful tribute to John Williams' iconic theme, but I hope Gunn doesn't ignore another composer who has an important role in Superman's DC legacy. 1978's Superman: The Movie is arguably the birth of the superhero genre. Christopher Reeve's live-action version of Superman made viewers believe a man could fly, and the film is still seen as a landmark of cinematic spectacle. One of the film's most memorable aspects is its excellent score, created by Williams, adding to his legendary discography.
His theme is still synonymous with the hero almost 50 years later. It was reused in 2006's Superman Returns and an essential part of Superman's first trailer. However, it wasn't used in 2013's Man of Steel, as Zack Snyder's films in the Dceu timeline had a different tone than the Richard Donner Superman films. Hans Zimmer composed the score for Man of Steel,...

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Rocket Raccoon's (Bradley Cooper) story is over, having beautifully concluded back in "Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3." Doctor Doom's story, though, is just beginning, when Robert Downey Jr. makes his Marvel return playing a very different kind of "iron man" in 2026's "Avengers: Doomsday."
Yet, Marvel Comics is bringing this unlikely pair together for a special 40-page one-shot: "Doctor Doom & Rocket Raccoon" #1 — possibly the publisher's wildest crossover since "Aliens Vs Avengers" last year — and Marvel has shared an exclusive preview of the issue with /Film.

After nearly 17 years, the MCU has grown considerably large, with a massive cast of characters that span dozens of movies and television series. The universe’s humble beginnings almost feel surreal when looking back on how it all kicked off with Iron Man. Now, the MCU timeline almost feels unwieldy, spanning decades and multiple alternate universes. At the center of it all, though, are the well-liked characters that fans have grown to love.
Despite already being massive, the upcoming MCU release schedule promises to introduce even more heroes. One of the greatest aspects of the MCU is seeing all these different heroes interact with each other, mostly starting out in their own movies before becoming part of something much bigger. Unfortunately, because of the remarkable number of characters, not all of them will have a chance to interact with each other, due to various circumstances.

Many actors have had their careers helped by starring in Marvel or DC movies, and some of them had quite impressive success stories after joining a superhero franchise. While there has been talk about superhero fatigue over the past couple of years, films like Spider-Man: No Way Home and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which are both among the McU's best movies, show that, as James Gunn put it, the problem is "bad superhero movie fatigue."
Gone are the days when simply being in a superhero movie would be guaranteed success, which seemed to be the case when the MCU was firing on all cylinders. However, as Marvel continues working on the McU's slate of projects and James Gunn's DC Universe gets off the ground, one thing has not changed. It's wild that Venom's movie franchise was so successful that it outperformed the rest of Sony's Spider-Man Universe by more than five times the total global box office. The first installment of Sony's Spider-Man Universe, Venom, earned promising results upon its release in 2018 after debuting one of the most popular characters associated with Spider-Man. Unfortunately, this initial success would fail to bear much fruit as subsequent installments of Sony's Spider-Man franchise failed to inspire half as much enthusiasm from fans as it introduced even more minor characters like Morbius and Madame Web.
This would lead to the apparent death of the franchise just six years later at the tail-end of 2024 as Kraven the Hunter became its most catastrophic bomb yet. While there are plenty of reasons suggested for why Sony's Spider-Man Universe fizzled out with three bombs under its belt, it's notable that Venom largely averted the same...

Throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe and other Marvel movies, there have been a select few villains who stand out as singularly ancient. It’s no secret that the movies of the MCU have built the biggest and most successful shared universe in the history of cinema. This not only requires carefully adapting the source material from the stories of Marvel Comics, but finding the right balance of characters to populate such a universe.
Every hero needs a villain, and Marvel movies have delivered some unforgettable antagonists over the years. In fact, some of the most powerful Marvel movie villains from the MCU’s movie timeline and beyond boast impressive longevity or even immortality, making them markedly ancient. The Avengers roster is still unconfirmed for Avengers: Doomsday, but Marvel needs to consider bringing back a powerful Phase 5 hero who deserves a larger role. So many new characters have been introduced since Avengers: Endgame and the Avengers roster is uncertain after Black Widow and Iron Man's deaths, and Steve Rogers' retirement. Marvel has confirmed that The Fantastic Four will as part of the Avengers: Doomsday cast after their 2025 film, but many characters remain on the table.
Some likely candidates for the team include veterans like Doctor Strange, Ant-Man, Captain Marvel, and Captain America, along with newcomers such as Shang-Chi and Ms. Marvel. Marvel introduced many new characters in Phases 4 and 5, and an Avengers project provides an opportunity to bring back many of them if they're not getting another solo project. One new character who deserves a second shot is Adam Warlock, played by Will Poulter. He had a...

The Guardians of the Galaxy haven't yet been confirmed to be returning to the MCU, making me worried that Marvel Studios might be quietly trying to move on from the iconic cosmic superhero team. Since their debut in 2014's eponymous Phase 2 movie, the Guardians of the Galaxy team has been one of my favorite MCU properties. I loved seeing the team change and grow over the duration of the James Gunn-directed trilogy and Holiday Special, but, now, I'm nervous we might not see the Guardians of the Galaxy again.
2023's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 ended with the original Guardians of the Galaxy team disbanding, though Rocket and Groot stayed in the new line-up, with the former being promoted to team captain. This was incredibly emotional, but also made me think the stage was being set for new Guardians of the Galaxy adventures, with a new roster continuing...

DC Universe co-head James Gunn has proven himself especially capable in providing humanity to inhuman creatures, and new heartbreaking details from Creature Commandos have shown him doing this once again. This exploration of a tragic backstory, similar to the ending for characters in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, has successfully pulled on the heartstrings of many viewers. As the story of Creature Commandos proceeds, these shockingly sad details have been used effectively to set up future stories.
Because of Gunn’s past involving characters like Rocket Raccoon and King Shark, many expect to see all kinds of animal characters in the Dcu. This has already begun, with Krypto the Superdog appearing in the Superman trailer. However, it is the inhuman characters in Creature Commandos that have been given the most focus so far. New details from the latest episode of the animated series clearly show that the series will...

The Guardians of the Galaxy and The Avengers have come a long way in the MCU since 2014, with significant changes in their comparative powers. After debuting the McU's main players in a sequence of solo movies, The Avengers made history by teaming them together and grossing Marvel Studios' first $1 billion. This isn't too surprising given the Avengers' prior popularity and the sheer spectacle their team-up promised. 12 years later, the team has trodden a rocky road, with severe losses being tempered by the addition of some even more powerful potential new members.
The Guardians of the Galaxy, meanwhile, had no such set-up and comprised a team of far less well-known heroes. Nevertheless, the Guardians were entertaining enough to rake in $771 million for the franchise in MCU Phase 2 in a movie that remains one of the McU's best-rated. The Guardians would then bolster their numbers with each subsequent movie, and establish themselves...

The year 2024 was expected to be a step back for movie theaters in their effort to rebuild after the Covid-19 pandemic due to the impact of the Hollywood strikes. And while it was, the box office ended far closer to 2023 than expected.
Thanks to a strong second half, domestic annual grosses finished at a preliminary estimate of $8.7 billion, down 4% year-over-year from the $9.06 billion recorded in 2023 and well above the flat $8 billion that was initially projected by Gower Street Analytics at the start of 2024.
“Everyone in the movie theater business has been saying for the past several years that it’s all about volume,” Comscore analyst Paul Dergarabedian told TheWrap. “The theaters need more movies. The great second half we’ve had, starting with ‘Inside Out 2,’ has proven that, and you’re seeing it again right now with this Thanksgiving and Christmas boom we’re having where multiple films are drawing huge numbers.

The teaser of James Gunn and David Corenswet’s Superman (2025) was dropped a couple of weeks ago and let’s just say the doubts DC fans had about this new era vanished like a villain under Superman’s heat vision. Currently, the teaser has a whopping 1.1 million likes to its name. Needless to say, James Gunn came, he saw, he conquered. Now all we need to do is wait for July of this year before we can pass any solid judgments about the upcoming film.

Obviously, some social media critics have reacted negatively to the new Superman. From the teaser to David Corenswet’s suit, a lot of nitpicking has been going around on the Internet. One fan “pointed out” how the suit looked similar to that of Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
