Jonathan Majors is currently one of the hottest actors today. Majors joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Phase 4 as the next “big bad,” Kang the Conqueror. However, he has been in other productions before, and his notoriety grows with every project. The actor has a quirky trait involving holding a cup wherever he goes, even on red carpets. Majors reveals how his mother’s advice inspired this strange habit.
Jonathan Majors has had a rapid rise to the top
Majors’ first role was in the eight-part docuseries When We Rise. The actor landed the part while still at the Yale School of Drama, playing real-life gay activist Ken Jones. Majors met Jones to learn more about him before bringing his story to the screen. He also appeared in the revisionist Western Hostiles, which debuted in 2017.

Adapted from Martin Amis’s 1997 novel Night Train and with a screenplay courtesy of director herself, the film has aspirations of being a smart hardboiled neo-noir with a cosmic twist, but in reality it is a decidedly muddled, jarringly directionless and an altogether baffling offering from a filmmaker who, it has to be said, is capable of far more coherent output.
When famous astrophysicist Jennifer Rockwell (Mamie Gummer) is found dead at the observatory of her New Orleans university, detective Mike Hoolihan (Clarkson) is compelled by an unknown force that appears to bind her with the dead woman to pursue the case and find her killer. Last year at the Toronto Film Festival, we had the pleasure of sitting down with one of our favourite British filmmakers Carol Morley, alongside star of the silver screen Patricia Clarkson, for their collaboration on the unique cop thriller Out of Blue – out this Friday.
In a serene hotel courtyard we discussed how conventional cop dramas are so steeped in cinematic tradition, and whether their approach towards the project was born more so out of film, than reality. they also comment on the otherworldly feel, and how of course this differs from the director’s striking docu-film Dreams of a Life, while Morley also talks about her admiration for Clarkson.
Their evident friendship illuminated the interview, for Clarkson too speaks of her indelible experience shooting this film, and also on the internalised display that this character require. In the meantime, we also get quite deep and discuss the universe, because why not?...

Some murder mysteries begin with murders; some begin with Mamie Gummer giving a lecture on a rooftop, arguing that all life springs from death, all death springs from life, and 90% of matter is invisible. “You can tell a lot by looking,” she tells her students. But in the world of “Out of Blue,” it’s the telling that takes up most of the running time, and it’s a little monotonous, if we’re being honest.
Patricia Clarkson stars as Mike Hoolihan, a detective investigating the death of astrophysicist Jennifer Rockwell (Gummer), who was shot in an observatory shortly after that opening lecture. Rockwell’s death is no ordinary murder. It looks suspiciously like the work of the never-captured but long since retired “.38 Caliber Killer.” And all of the suspects are spacey intellectuals who pontificate about highfalutin concepts like Schrödinger’s cat and alternate realities when they should be telling...

Author Martin Amis just can’t catch a break when it comes to seeing his novels adapted for the big screen. Last year saw the atrocious London Fields not so much get released as it did escape development hell. Now, after playing at the Toronto International Film Festival last year, another Amis adaptation hits theaters. It’s Out of Blue, which mixes the investigation of a death with an exploration of astrophysics. If that sounds like a tough pill to swallow, it is. Despite some interesting moments, Out of Blue is too hazy about its themes to work and ends up frustrating way more than it entertains. The movie is a police procedural, at least in name only, though it mixes in liberally some astrology chatter and other such astrophysical mumbo jumbo. When renowned astrophysicist and black hole expert Jennifer Rockwell (Mamie Gummer) is found shot to death in her observatory,...

Filmmaker Carol Morley’s upcoming film “Out of Blue” isn’t your typical crime thriller. Sure, there’s a detective on the hunt for a killer, but this film has a lot more on its mind, as it delves into existential questions about the nature of our universe. And because of that, “Out of Blue” needed a score from a composer that is capable of capturing that uniqueness with music.

The Golden Globe-winning star of HBO hit Sharp Objects on defying convention, her new film, Out of Blue, and why the industry’s future looks bright
Patricia Clarkson tells me that she’s feeling rather more famous than she used to, which makes sense. A gifted character actress, able to encapsulate patrician poise, suburban angst, bohemian disarray, uptight alpha, and everything in between, Clarkson, 59, has enjoyed a long award-studded career, encompassing film, theatre and television. So extensive is her body of work that it almost amounts to: which Patricia Clarkson do you want? The brittle, drug-addicted lesbian in High Art, the unravelling, gutsy bohemian in Six Feet Under, the cancer-ravaged mother in Pieces of April, the acidic cosmopolitan in The Party? … The list sprawls on. Clarkson has had leading roles, but even when supporting, she tends to stand out.

The Crown’s Matt Smith has entered into final negotiations to join Sony’s ‘Spider-Man’ spin-off project ‘Morbius’.
Smith would join cast members, Jared Leto and Adria Arjona. Daniel Espinosa will take the helm on the pictures. Lost in Space’s Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama have penned the script. Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach will produce with Lucas Foster. Smith’s role is thought to be a major part of the film but as yet details are being kept top secret.

"Can you explain your place in the universe?" Picturehouse has debuted the first official trailer for a very peculiar, mysterious drama from the UK titled Out of Blue, from director Carol Morley. The film's story focuses on a detective who is investigating the shooting of an astrophysicist and black hole expert, but seem to lose her grip on reality and get lost in the existential concepts of time and relevance. Or something like that. Patricia Clarkson stars in this, with Jacki Weaver, James Caan, Toby Jones, Aaron Tveit, Mamie Gummer, Alyshia Ochse, Jonathan Majors, and Gary Grubbs. There are some interesting scenes in this trailer - moments where people disappear, very wacky lines of dialogue, but I am more than intrigued and very curious to find out what's really going on and what else this film covers. What big ideas it discusses, and how they work all that into the narrative.

Patricia Clarkson is one of the most underrated actresses in the world. However, she takes center stage in the new film “Out of Blue,” and it sure does look like a doozy of a detective film.
In the trailer for “Out of Blue,” we meet Clarkson’s detective character that is investigating the murder of a young professor that has ties to a prominent local family. However, as she does her detecting, Clarkson comes across a variety of strange folks and a lecture given by the professor about the nature of the universe.

Exclusive: Coming off excellent reviews in Studio 8/Sony’s White Boy Rick, Jonathan Majors is in talks to portray Bobby Seale, the co-founder of the Black Panther Party, in Aaron Sorkin’s Amblin Entertainment feature The Trial of the Chicago 7.
Sorkin’s Chicago 7, which the Oscar winner is writing and directing, follows the infamous 1969 trial of seven defendants charged by the federal government with conspiracy and more, arising from the counterculture protests in Chicago at the 1968 Democratic National Convention. The trial transfixed the nation and sparked a conversation about mayhem intended to undermine the U.S. government. Marc Platt is producing.
Seale was far and beyond the worst-treated defendant; he was refused a legal representative and bound and gagged during the hearing. He was given a mistrial and was separated from the other seven after being bound in front of the gallery and jury.
