English band Broadcast will release two new demo collections in 2024: Spell Blanket – Collected Demos 2006-2009 (out May 3rd) and Distant Call – Collected Demos 2000-2006 (out September 28th).
Broadcast, the electronic dream pop project of James Cargill and Trish Keenan, who died of pneumonia in 2011, previously reissued their entire discography in 2015. Now, Cargill is unearthing dozens of demos collected over a 10-year span. According to a press release, Spell Blanket comprises of “songs and sketches” from Trish’s “extensive archive of 4-track tapes and MiniDiscs” that would have eventually served as Broadcast’s fifth album.
Distant Call, on the other hand, comprises of early demos that eventually would appear on their albums Haha Sound, Tender Buttons, and The Future Crayon. The album also features “Come Back To Me” and “Please Call To Book,” two songs that Cargill discovered after Keenan’s death. The latter song was Keenan’s entry for...

One of Coral Island’s biggest mysteries involves a strange Underwater Puzzle that players have been trying to crack since Early Access. The tropical-themed farming sim features many activities players can try, including scuba diving to restore and heal the local coral reefs. While diving, you might come across a giant clam statue with a shell on a pedestal: an oddity that has mystified the community since launch.
Diving isn’t necessarily one of the best ways to make money in Coral Island, but it’s a unique feature that helps distinguish the game from other farming sims. You’ll unlock Diving on the 8th day of Spring, your very first season in paradise, and from there, you can explore a maze of underwater paths, collect underwater critters, clean trash, and solve puzzles.

Mentors play an important role in anime, both in the narrative as well as the function of the story itself. Functionally, they serve to explain the rules of the world to both the characters and the audience, while narratively, the advice and training they provide help to advance the story and help the characters to grow.
The best mentors do more than just help other characters become stronger—they help their students become better people. They don't just prepare their students to face powerful enemies and master new techniques but also to master their own emotions and face the mirror to become the best versions of themselves.

Yu-Gi-Oh! is an incredibly unique anime, being based almost entirely around a trading card game, but despite this there are a variety of similar shows that fans of the franchise would likely enjoy. These shows of course include a variety of other anime based around card games, but they also include other series that are more similar in other aspects. For whatever reason someone enjoys the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise, there should be something on this list to scratch that itch.
Yu-Gi-Oh! is one of the most iconic anime of the early 2000s. The show follows a young boy named Yugi who unlocks the power of an ancient relic known as the Millennium Puzzle, releasing the spirit of an Ancient Pharaoh. With this newfound ally, Yugi and his friends defeat a variety of powerful enemies through high stakes card games while uncovering the mysteries of the Pharaoh's past. The show spawned a...

Saw X, the latest installment in the franchise, is generating excitement among fans with its clever Rebus Puzzle game incorporated into the new poster. Director Kevin Greutert aims to return to the harrowing traps and petrifying contraptions that made the original Saw films enthralling, bringing the narrative closer to a more realistic level. Saw X takes a significant shift in point of view, focusing on Tobin Bell's character, the Jigsaw Killer, John Kramer, providing an emotional journey from his perspective rather than the victims', in a bid to appeal to a wider range of viewers.
In the world of gruesome horror and thrilling suspense, the Saw franchise stands tall with its ingenious traps and dark narrative. The heartwarming film Jules finds senior citizen Milton [Sir Ben Kingsley] living a quiet life in rural Pennsylvania. He's dealing with a fading memory and a strained relationship with his adult daughter, Denise [Zoë Winters]. His normal existence becomes topsy-turvy when a spaceship crash-lands in Milton's backyard. Nobody at the town hall meetings, understandably, believes him. Ultimately, Milton invites the injured little extraterrestrial ''Jules'' inside his home and befriends him. It isn't long before two elderly neighbors, Sandy [Harriet Sansom Harris] and Joyce [Jane Curtin], discover Milton's secret. As the government closes in on Jules -- Milton, Sandy, and Joyce develop a friendship with their silent alien visitor and a strong companionship with each other as they grapple with the meaning of life.
Director Marc Turtletaub recently spoke with Cbr about the movie's unique premise, his personal connection to the characters, practical effects, and tear-jerking moments.

There are two new wide or semi-wide releases this weekend, “The Last Voyage of the Demeter” and “Jules,” but how many moviegoers will actually buy tickets with so many other stronger contenders still in theaters? Read on for Gold Derby’s box office preview.
Before we get to the new movies this week, we probably should address the “Barbenheimer” in the room. There’s very little doubt that “Barbie” can pull off a rare fourth weekend at #1 with upwards of $32 million or more after holding up so well against “Meg 2” and the “Ninja Turtles” this past weekend. Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer” also has a good chance at reclaiming second place, since it’s likely to have a smaller drop-off this weekend than both of last week’s new movies.

"You've seen the movies, you know what happens to these guys when they fall to Earth." Bleecker Street has revealed the first official trailer for Jules, a sci-fi indie comedy from filmmaker Marc Turtletaub, best known for his charming film Puzzle from a few years ago. This recently premiered at the Sonoma Film Festival and will be playing in theaters nationwide starting in August before the summer is over. An unusual and unexpected visitor brings together several people living in a small town in rural Western Pennsylvania. A lonely older man befriends a mute alien visitor. Described as "a funny, wildly inventive ride as the three neighbors find meaning and connection later in life - thanks to this unlikely stranger." The film stars Ben Kingsley, Harriet Sansom Harris, Zoe Winters, Jane Curtin, Donald Paul, Jeff Kim, with Jade Quon as Jules. This looks surprisingly charming, with a cute lil' blue man alien in it.

Bleecker Street has revealed a first look at Jules, their upcoming science-fiction comedy/drama starring Academy Award winner Ben Kingsley. Kingsley won the gold statuette in 1982, the same year Steven Spielberg released E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial. Forty years on, Kingsley will have his own close encounter — combined with a shot on Cocoon for good measure. Directed by Marc Turtletaub (Puzzle), the film sees Kingsley star as Milton, an ordinary man living a quiet life which is turned upside down after a visitor from outer space lands in his back garden.

Since Austin Abrams made his screen debut in the 2011 direct-to-dvd Ticking Clock, the young actor has appeared in numerous movies and TV shows, making a name for himself as a dependable performer in teen dramas and comedies. For the early part of his career, Abrams tended to play either the main character's best friend or arrogant, in-over-his-head adolescent, like in Silicon Valley season 1, episode 6, "Third Party Insourcing", where he played the app-destroying hacker known as “The Carver”. Since then, Abrams has slowly been cast as more fully realized characters.
Abrams has shown a knack for playing roles in an understated and natural manner that is not always easy for younger actors to pull off. After his appearance in The Walking Dead, Abrams came to mainstream attention and a year later appeared in four films in 2017. With plenty of heart-pounding horror to choose from, anime offers some of the scariest ghosts of all time. People have been frightened of and preoccupied with death for eons, and as spirits unnaturally tied to the world of the living after death, ghosts evoke a primal terror in many people. Ghosts manifested out of pain can be terrifyingly vengeful, but at least their problems can be solved: the spirits powered by pure sadism and hatred are different beasts entirely, and far more dangerous and frightening.
Japanese mythology and folklore features many ghosts, spirits, and other creatures that inspire the monsters of movies, TV, and some of the best horror anime of all time. Even in more lighthearted series, a particularly nasty ghost can stop the fun cold, resulting in episodes that stand out for how starkly terrifying they are. Yugi’s first Duel Monsters victory in Yu-Gi-Oh! has become an iconic moment within the anime fandom (especially the ending), but while Yugi was victorious, winning that duel was actually the biggest mistake he could have made.
In the first episode of Yu-Gi-Oh!, Yugi challenges Seto Kaiba to a duel after Kaiba defeated Yugi’s grandfather, Solomon. Kaiba dueled Solomon to get his hands on the old man’s Blue-Eyes White Dragon, thereby completing Kaiba’s set of four. To avenge his grandfather’s loss–and subsequent heart attack–Yugi challenged Kaiba to a duel where he defeated all three of Kaiba’s Blue-Eyes White Dragons with Exodia. Yugi succeeded in teaching Kaiba a lesson, but the price he would pay for that ultimate victory definitely wasn't worth it.

It’s no secret that Yugi is the best duelist in Yu-Gi-Oh!, but in one of his earliest matches in the anime, one competing duelist presented a strategy that even Yugi couldn’t match.
Yugi isn’t just the best Duel Monsters duelist because of the victories and the accolades, but because he is and has always been fully immersed in the game, both in this life and his last. Yugi’s grandfather, Solomon, taught Yugi the Heart of the Cards when Yugi was very young, which allowed him to establish a deeper connection with his deck at an early age than many other duelists achieve throughout their entire careers. While Solomon set Yugi on the right course, the main reason Yugi can’t lose is because of the influence of Yami Yugi aka himself from a past life. When Yugi was given the Millennium Puzzle, and subsequently solved it,...

While Solomon set Yugi on the right course, the main reason Yugi can’t lose is because of the influence of Yami Yugi aka himself from a past life. Since pirates are the theme of One Piece Odyssey and notoriously love treasure, it only makes sense that Berries are the game's form of currency. Berries can be spent on all kinds of valuable goodies, such as some of the game's best accessories. The role-playing video game, One Piece Odyssey is the latest installment of the One Piece franchise.
Although there are many ways to get Berries and earn money in One Piece Odyssey, there isn’t exactly a quick and easy way for players to fill their coffers. While the franchise's latest title raises questions about who One Piece Odyssey's best character is, there is certainly no debate about the best ways players can earn Berries. Aside from specific farming spots, picking up certain Side Stories and Bounty Hunts and opening chests will earn players a pretty Berry.

Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery Is A 'Roller Coaster And Not A Crossword Puzzle' — See First Image
Did you miss him? Of course you did! Everyone's favorite private detective with an unparalleled nose for the truth is back and ready for another round of "CSI: KFC" action. After writer/director Rian Johnson promptly reinvigorated the murder-mystery genre with the Oscar-nominated "Knives Out" in 2019, audiences, in no small part due to Daniel Craig's gloriously campy portrayal of Benoit Blanc, immediately looked ahead to the next time we could see the detective doing what he does best — snooping around in everyone else's business, casually making suspects uncomfortable, and using his vast insights to solve all the most complicated crimes.
"Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery" is the next buzzworthy installment of Johnson's hit original franchise and now we're getting a fresh look at what the sequel has to offer. If you recall, Netflix scooped up the rights to the second film (and a third!) in a frenzied bidding...

One of my favorite gifts to give (and receive) are board games, because it’s a great way to interact with friends and family all while celebrating the things that we love. With that in mind, I’ve put together this extensive list of tons of awesome games and puzzles that would make excellent gifts during this holiday season. Here’s a look at some of the great puzzles and games I’ve come across this year (and few tried and true favorites as well).
Puzzles:

Exclusive: Steve Buscemi and Wren Arthur’s Olive Productions has closed a two-year, first-look deal with TBS and TNT.
Under the pact, the New York-based company plans to mine their talent relationships to develop drama and comedy series for the two WarnerMedia networks. Buscemi and Arthur already are working on book and other IP adaptations, as well as several provocative and aspirational unscripted series ideas.
Unscripted programming’s importance at the two networks has been on the rise, especially at TNT.
The deal expands Buscemi’s relationship with TBS where he is star and executive producer of series Miracle Workers. The breakout comedy, TBS’ most watched original scripted series in Live+Same Day, has been renewed for a second season.

Today sees Olivier Pairoux begin the shoot for his feature debut, a family adventure flick starring Basile Grunberger, Albane Masson and Yannick Renier. Today sees the start of the six-week shoot for Space Boy, the feature debut by director Olivier Pairoux (whom we have to thank for the Philippe Katerine-starring short film Puzzle), which he co-wrote with Eusebio Larrea. Space Boy is a family adventure film, a fairly unusual proposition in French-language Belgian cinema, and it draws its inspiration from the Us films of this genre that the director was brought up on as a child, such as The Goonies, E.T. and Stand by Me. This movie tinged with nostalgia unfolds in 1986, a time when space exploration was in full swing. An exceptionally gifted dreamer, 11-year-old Jim, lives with his father, Graham, who is destined to become the first British scientist to go into space. But when Jim finds.

While “Fahrenheit 11/9” wasn’t was box office analysts expected, this weekend saw The Year of the Documentary strike again with the arrival of National Geographic’s “Free Solo” in the indie box office, and with it, a new per screen average record for docs.
Telling the story of climber Alex Hannold’s quest to climb Yosemite’s El Capitan without any equipment, the thrilling, critically-acclaimed doc earned $300,804 from its four screen release, earning a per screen average of $75,201. That breaks the 12-year PSA record for documentaries held by “An Inconvenient Truth,” which had a starting average of $70,333. It’s also the best PSA of 2018, beating the $63,000 average of A24’s “Eighth Grade.”
On the feature side, Fox Searchlight, which released Best Picture winner “The Shape of Water” last winter, made a return to the indie charts with “The Old Man & The Gun,” which features the final acting performance of the legendary Robert Redford.
