  • Saw this at the Napa Valley Film Festival... what a gem! Performances, production design and overall production value rivals that of most feature-films. It's no surprise that the script was written by Terry Rossio (Shrek, Men In Black, Aladdin) as it achieves in 15 mins what most full-length horrors can't muster in 90+ mins: genuine tension, a payoff that doesn't feel forced and a general feeling that you don't know what's going to happen next throughout. It's a testament to the short-film format when star writers and directors make genre shorts, because it shows that the medium isn't just for experimentation - sometimes it's for great ideas that are born to be told quickly and efficiently. Also a big shoutout to the production team on this one who clearly worked their socks off to bring this to fruition, especially wrangling the schedules of two star actors in Marisa Tomei and Minnie Driver (both fantastic) and a team of super talented people behind the camera. Definitely one of the best and highest-quality short-films I've ever seen. Catch it if you can!

    10/10
    Creepy
Keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time. And the ending is... well I don't want to spoil it, but you might want to watch with the lights on. Bring on the feature!

This film is so spooky that it begs the question, "is this real?"
  • This short was masterfully written, produced, and acted. Marisa Tomei and Minnie Driver excel portraying scientists on opposite sides of the science versus spirituality spectrum. Don't watch this at home alone at night!
  • Warning: Spoilers
Tomei and Driver are in my opinion two underrated actresses. When I saw they lead this short, I had to watch it. And both give an excellence performance, as did the rest of the cast. Attention is put to the detail, making this a very atmospheric and believable short.

Pretty early on, this short did remind me a lot of the Flatliners movie. It kind of has the same characters in it. The combination of science and spirituality opens a lot of doors for great stories, as this short is also a good example for. It touches the ethical question what is acceptable to scientific progress. But it also shows that curiosity might kill the cat. You never know, until you open the box.

Tomei's last line is the perfect summary: "let's see what happens" Also as a scientist you have to face the consequences of your actions.

It was really enjoyable to watch this short, not just entertaining, but also a little thought-provoking. Not often these days you see something that is stylish, well acted, entertaining, and that also has some philosophical depth.

A not comfortable idea but a very old curiosity . The duel between familiar actors. A small detail defining the end. And something returning us to old questions, doubts and sources of fascination, faith and old lectures.

In short, the discover, out of doubts, of soul.

A stolen patient, a doctor looking for him, an experiment and the images saw only by the doctor. And the cold truth , changing everything, reminding the angry of God against Egyptians in the time of Moses.

Many reasons to define it as a film with Minnie Driver, Marisa Tomei and Paulo Constanzo. And , maybe, this is the motif of provocative subject, less original but powerful at whole.

A great short film for the fine manner to craft questions . Maybe, for the basic truth, discovered by each viewer as a precious remind about life. And death.
  • Absolutely superb!

If like me the preconditioning of being a guy in 2022 makes you consider stopping after the first guy opens his mouth, I'm begging you, please don't!

This is NOT that kind of film. The characters are all believable, encompassing good/bad, with/without faith, strong/weak with those attributes assigned without an agenda, some skillfully revealed over time.

It's without question one of the best videos - short, long and all points between - I have ever watched, bar none.

I've seen a lot of comments on YT wishing it was a full length feature and I can see their point, I'd certainly watch a director's cut if it added even one scene.

Or a sequel - it could easily go in a couple of directions - but honestly, on its own it is wonderfully, thought provokingly complete.

    Full marks!
  • Terry Rossio is simply a creative genius\mastermind!!! This was an amazing Short! It has some of the top actors\actresses that draw you in and make you want to be there. You will be left want to know more about them, what led them there, and why it has to be discovered.

I even had to watch it a few times.... still wanting more This is one of those rare shorts that makes your mind continue the story... for a time ever after the credits roll What a fantastic storyline with gripping life questions and the overall debate\connection between faith and science.

Please make this into a full length movie!!!!!!
  • I stumbled across this on you tube and thought I'd give it a watch, boy was I not disappointed!! This was such a great movie. I was so frustrated that it ended the way it did. I want to watch more. I really hope this can become a full length film, this would truly be one of the great horrors of 2023, it really makes you think about life after death and what happens next, do we have a soul? Is there some evil force waiting to grab us before we make it to somewhere like heaven? Had me in the edge of my seat and I am glad I came across it, please give it a Watch you will not be disappointed. Superb.
  • Left me wanting more, I wanted to see further into the story and what happens. It peeked my interest, it felt real, the actors played excellent and the idea itself was new and original as well as the way it was displayed.

I saw people who were kind, who were selfish and who were in between as well as the idea of supernatural and death. These elements combined, where the selfish person forced the hand of the gifted one peeked my interest in wanting to see the continuation of the entire situation as well as the backtories.

But somehow in this short video, a lot of questions were answered about what drives and motivates each person. I was able to root and feel like I knew these people while watching the entire video for such a short period of time. The ability of the actors to say and express so much even without saying is to be admired.
