Save me is a drama about a cult and it is not afraid to present all the horrors that the leads of the cult often did. The description says that a girl asks four men to save her, but that happens later in the drama. First, we are presented with the background story as to why everything happened and why people are now acting like they do. The stories of the characters seem different from one another, but they come together in the end, painting the picture of the story as a whole. The performances, in addition, were really good and helped the drama to create that horror-thriller atmosphere. One thing that I didn't like though was that the ending was kind of open, leaving things half finished. Other than that, I really enjoyed this drama.

One of my favourite thriller kdramas. it has a really good plot and discusses important issues. it´s a must watch with one of my favourite actors ( seo yea-ji)
  • Warning: Spoilers
This drama potrays the life of a young girl who is trapped in a horrifying cult. There are subtle feelings of love potrayed in the drama but no romance as such. Episodes upto ep no.3 may be a tad bit boring for some viewers who lack patience but i promise you stick through it and watch the whole drama you won't regret. I found myself yelling and taking stress bcs of the cult members in this drama. This just shows that the acting of thr characters is good enough to make your blood boil. Honestly one of the best dramas i have ever seen. The ending could have been a tad bit better in terms of filming and potraying the end result.
  • Highly recommend watching this gripping thriller series. It's exciting from start to finish. South Korea has a real cult problem so they have a good reason to make a drama dealing with cults. With what happened in the Shincheonji Church in Daegu and the spread of Coronavirus this show is eerily relevant and prophetic. What is good about this story is how they get behind the characters of the rescuers so you feel for them. Their attempts are very human and believable and very exciting while remaining plausible. There are some pretty exciting fight scenes along the way too. Sometimes it's frustrating how gullible the people are but cults wouldn't exist without such people. Thank goodness there is a complete enough ending. A couple of small faults. There are quite a few characters and couldn't distinguish some secondary ones for a while Also the religious chants and rants were a little tiresome after a while. Some praise for the cast. After It's Okay to Not Be Okay I tuned in to see the memorable actress Seo Ye Ji in an earlier series. Extremely demanding role for the actress and she does a great job in some dramatic scenes. I can see why she got cast in It's Okay after this. Ok Taec Yeon and Woo Do Hwan are good to as the guys who try to rescue her. Feel for their dilemmas. The villains are convincing too without overdoing it.
  • God! This drama was good. That white hair man and his fellows there makes us wants to smack them in the ass.

And the father of the lead female character has success made me feel so angry to see how weak and stupid he is.
  • It was so interesting to watch specially it delivered a special message of religious cults which is the actual reality of this world. Though it was quite dark but the actors portrayed it really well, South Korea is on top of it comes to making dramas on zombies, religious cults and romence etcc.

Honestly I've watched many Dramas but I really liked this one it's very interesting and something I liked was that it wasn't a typical love story I hope I can find another like this one and honestly I'D LOVE IF THIS HAD A BOOK If it had a book i would really enjoy reading it and just saying I don't like to read but if this series had a book I think It would be a pleasure to read it but anyways I really recommend this 😉💖

Family move from the City to the countryside where they soon become entangled in a cult. Their daughter enlists the help of some boys she knew from school to save her. This proves difficult as all the local police and government officials are in the cults pocket and every single adult in this series is and idiot or crooked. The cult leader is very well Acted and believable and of course we have the lovely Seo Ye-ji who is always worth watching.

Let's just move on with romance and start watching this one and only korean drama ever made. they have shown a dark side of cult..i won't say more..but definitely should recommend this drama, and if you still not watching this..i am sure you have missed a gem.

    I LOVED IT SO I RATED 10!💫
  • Regarding season 1: I found it to be very flawed from all angles and it only served as a learning experience for those who carried on with the second season. Its portrayal of a cult lacked a compelling thematic foundation, opting instead to draw inspiration from cheap rip-off D-grade movies themed around cults. Where cults are extremely over-dramatized to the point of crossing the supernatural territory. The cult apparently possessed super powers of hypnosis with only a few words spoken, even towards people who weren't perceptible to religious and spiritual beliefs. Everything surrounded the cult came off as cartoonish even within the context of a 'drama'. The narrative itself struggled to carry its own weight, particularly as it primarily focused on the perspectives of the outsiders. It always felt as if it was building up towards something bigger but it never got there. For a 16-episodes run, it needed a proper world building and foundation for the cult. Establishing a distinct "character" for the cult would have provided a stronger identity. Back to the outsiders, having the drama led by teenage characters was another weak aspect of it. Bland and cardboard characters. The mystery element was a crucial part of the drama yet it was lacking and under-delivering. The first season would have fared better as a standalone one-off movie rather than a drama. It doesn't make any sense why the drama was rated this high, according to MDL standards, especially when season 2 effectively addressed most of the issues with the cult and delivered an overall better package!

Regarding Season 2: It managed to deliver a much more compelling package than season 1. The most important part is that it handled the cult theme properly. The characters and the cast were a lot more appealing than season 1. Having a more adult leading characters rather than teenager was a plus. Uhm Tae Goo was a perfect casting choice for his character. The story had a better and more natural progression than season 1. However, it got sloppier the closer it got to the ending. Speaking of the ending, it was a bit underwhelming and not as grandiose as I hoped it would be. Second season should have been a stand alone drama unrelated to the first one, not even in the name. If you don't feel like watching two seasons then you can ignore the first one and just watch the second.

This one had everything it needed. Like the slow-motion car wreck you just can't pull your eyes from, the tension builds from episode to episode until its cataclysmic (prophetic?) end. Everything from the pathetic hopefulness of the worshippers to the absolutely mundane reason the preacher so lusts after his sexual conquest is spot on and the denouement leaves no character's story arc unfinished.
  • Church, almighty, blue sky .. Good Start, after some episodes its very boring to watch, slowstory, dragged too much, great cast but the dram failed in many ways .. not recommended to watch.
  • It was so boring so slow so predictable no many important events except each episode ends, of course. I had to watch it on speed 3 to finish it, maybe I would be surprised or something but no!

They had a strong good idea but they couldn't use it well. If it was a 2 hours movie, I would give it 8 but for 16 episodes?! Of course no, not at all.
  • Season 1 is good series

    but season 2 no

    i start episode 1 of season 2 & after about 5 10 min i stoped watching season 2 ( season 2 is different story )

i can offer u too many better korean series

    best korean series are:

    flower of evil

    crush on landing you

    goblin

    my dangrus wife

    hotel deluna.

I found this drama really gripping, so much actually that I spent several nights binge watching it because I just could't turn it off. It it rather dark themed, so nothing about romance or any typical, lightweight thing you often find in K-Drama here. The storyline is interesting as there indeed seem to be problems with cults in South Korea. The actors are quite good in here, with Woo Do-Hwan as Seok Dong-cheol standing out for me as the best from the group of young men trying to save a young girl from the cult and its leader.

I really enjoyed the series until the end, although it did have some little flaws in the last episodes. The girl, Im Sang-mi, has been caught and locked up within the cult for full three years. The most powerful female cult helper takes away her cell phone in the very beginning. So three years later she finally finds this cell phone locked in a drawer in the woman's room, - and turns it on and it works? After three years in a drawer? The phone of course would not work, the battery would have been empty for years and she also didn't have a charger then but steadily uses the phone. That was quite a blunder for me and annoyed me.

Also, the real hero of the four young man trying to save her is certainly Seok Dong-cheol. He risks everything for her actually from the beginnig of the series, and later even more. They also look at each other in a certain way in the very first episode. He saves her several times in different situations and obviously really cares for her. Still, in the very last episode, the politician's son, Han Sang Hwan, who does rather foolish and even unhelpful things throughout the whole series, is suddenly shown as the hero she thanks and Seok Dong-cheol is quite forgotten in that respect. That was a weak ending for me and the focus was set wrong on the wrong person here.

Still, it was rather gripping most of the time, the topic was interesting and I would even watch it again.

I loved it. I give it a 9 instead of 10 because there were some mistakes in the movie. Such as the characters using their phones to record evidence and the phone not falling of when they were in action. Sang Mi's phone working with full charge even when her phone had been switched off from the past 3 years. I felt there could've been some emphasis on this part However it was amazing and had an interesting and creepy storyline. People might find it boring since there isn't any romance in it. But that's what I loved. I was sick of seeing the same old girl falling for the guy, they can't be together due to some problem and eventually finding their way back to themselves. Even great plots had this typical romance in it like Crash landing on you and itaewon class. They were great too no doubt but the love interest made it look typical. Save Me is prefect for those wanting a break from the cliche romantic ending of the leads.
  • I'm here, after 5 years that I watched to tell you: you need to watch this drama (but be careful because it's a heavy one).

This was my first drama ever, and in that time I didn't knew what was that and how amazing this universe is and yet I really loved. Once you start, you can't stop until the end wanting to know what happens to the girl and her family in this scandal and how she will get help. In that time, it made me really give me a thought about religions and cults.

The only thing that you cannot try to find here is the romance because the focus is in the whole problem that the cult caused to the family of protagonist.

I will preface this review by saying that I've only watched 3 episodes. I will come back and update this review when I have watched more / the rest.

This is a very well made and compelling series about serious issues. The settings, the cinematography and the acting is superb.

The warning here about violence is not sufficient in my opinion. This is a very violent series. Maybe not by Korean standards but from the point of view of other films.

This is not a series to watch with young children, because of the violence and the mature issues that are dealt with. It should be acceptable for mid to late teenagers, assuming they can deal with difficult issues.

The violence and the shocks here are too much for younger children IMO.

The drama is superb and the acting equally exceptional. Those in the West who watches this TV Drama will be disappointed with the utter stupidity of their actions. The lack of common sense of every individual including the Police, School and Parents allowed the children to be irresponsible and uncontrollable. Also the church that abuses helpless people and sexually abuses young kids yet no one seem to know is on every character of this show. The only thing I like about this show is the bravery of Dong-Chul. The kid that got expelled from school after helping a bullied kid that jumped off a building later.
  • I am a fan of Korean drama and had seen a lot in Netflix. Most of them are good, if not very good. But this one is very disappointing. In this drama, the story seemed good, but I found that everyone was stupid, including the writer who also thought the audiences were stupid too! It brought our concept of Korean Justice and common sense to the next level (low one!). Everyone in the drama, including the main characters, was stupid enough to make the same mistake again and again, and again.... They made stupid decisions and made stupid moves. Sometimes I would prefer they die sooner to end all these ridiculous plots. Save your time to skip this if you don't want to get angry!

The story is creepy cult genre. I just felt that it could ave been just a miniseries instead of a full kdrama. Dragging the story did not help on the plot. The lead girl is always typecast in those fantasy type of genres so I think her role suited her well. Taecyon is always that masculine guy that appears to fight any kind of villain. I was more frustrated that they look so helpless when they can do something else to solve their problems.

    2/10
    Eh
Weak female protagonist. Makes me questionable of Korean laws and values. Just okay. Unsatisfying ending. Only finished it out of putting the effort into starting it.

I thought this is gonna be some spoopy exciting friendship thriller, but it's just depressing through and through. And it's not like "invigorating" depression like 'handmaids tale', this is just tiring and sad.
  • It started off well , then flopped and was really slow and then picked up and was fast paced . The 'grief scenes ' were drawn out, harrowing and too many , as one grief scene would have sufficed , so I skipped those . The humour in the show was good !

Overall , it is worth a watch .
