  • Osmosis has a interesting premise, an implant that allows someone to find their soul mate. While testing, the breeder finds the possibility to help her mother in a coma, going against ethics. Although, the development is quite a disappointment. No interesting plot-twist. The ending feels like unfinished, because the problems that arise during the series are not sufficiently explored.

It started off great! I was excited to keep watching. Then it lost momentum. The last half I didn't enjoy as much but I had to finish to know what happened. The final episode didn't quite tie everything together like it should've. I was also disappointed that we only followed 3 test subjects. I would have liked to see more of that aspect especially since 2/3 "worked". Unanswered questions.......I hate that.
  • The concept will keep you watching. The delivery will leave you wanting. - NOTE: always watch these in the original language. It's just better and doesn't make the acting seem awful.

The show seemed to have a hard time locking down what part of the story it wanted to focus in on: the family ties? Love in general? The test subjects experience? The love story of the CEO? The office drama? The competitive drama?

I felt lost watching. I kept wondering, "So how are they going to tie this back in?" Turns out, they didn't, or they did it in the least impactful way.

The first episodes are usual information vomiting- this was no different.

The overall show had Black Mirror vibes running through it, but it lacked a central theme and depth. This led to it being lackluster.

The final episode wasn't satisfying and really missed an opportunity to explore some amazing storylines- however, we already had too many to focus on.

Stick to black mirror, sense 8, or OA. I hear the new twilight zone will be good.
  • I know most people say that it has an interesting starting and then it runs slowly, but maybe these people have not seen the episodes 4-8. As far as I am concerned, I find the pace okay, as it gives us the opportunity to get to know the characters and mostly the testers, as well as it provides us with an interesting plot. So people: stick to the show till the end, and give it a chance, even if you find it dull. Of course, maybe it just fits better to me and not all people have the same taste. Definitely recommended to french learners, as the vocabulary is quite simple and they use a lot of everyday language which will help you to get familiar with the pace of the language.
  • Osmosis spends so much time trying to be abstractly clever, it forgets to engage with the viewer. Its like a visit to one of those modern art galleries a snooty friend drags you along to. Sounds alright until you realize its attempts to be daring and cutting edge, amount to shallow pretension marketed as art.

In my view a similar, if not quiet so harsh conclusion, could be reached about this series. There is far far too much time spent on visual imagery, abstract thoughts and emotions. It wants to be engaging, the problem is it never steps far beyond its own surreal world view, to offer anything meaningful to the viewer.

The result is a series I found impossible to watch for any length of time. The acting is fine and the visuals well rendered but its lack of a real story with body to go along with its soul simply leaves you wanting anything to fill the abstract void it ends up representing.

    4/10 from me.
  • I'm finished 6 out of 8 episodes for season 1. So far, the sci-fi aspects of it are intriguing enough to keep me watching, but it's wrapped around an extremely dubious misconception of what constitutes love. Lots of over-the-top orgy and skin scenes. I will be putting this on the back burner for possible later completion.
  • I'm willing to forgive the plot holes, the cheap sets and hilarious 'tech talk' including gems like 'we need to reverse the polarities'.

But as a whole, it's bland , never picks up outside of episode 3, and the whole thing is so derivative it's laughable.

I watched s1 in one go and won't be back. This is bad sci-fi, especially after gems like 'maniac' have also made their ways to streaming services.
  • I have seen many negative reviews on it, so I felt like it needed some back-up here, since I find it well done, as another reviewer put it: Osmosis has lots of great ingredients that make up for a good series. I find the acting pretty good, the pacing, the images, the script. Besides the fact that we don't see familiar faces in terms of well-known TV or big screen actors (but hey, that's a good thing, since we could discover lots of fresh, new talents), I can't see many flaws. Two thumbs up from me.
  • If you want a mellow sci fi which is still very enjoyable to watch, this is your show. If you love fast paced shows and need something different to watch in the meantime, this is your show. Great concept. Lovely on its own and also doubles as a palate cleanser. The music choice is atypical and really creates a feel good vibe! I really wished they gave it at least one more season.

Watched it almost in one go. Enjoyed it overall, but is hard not to notice some far fetched storyline shortcuts or not finished plotlines. Is the final an opening for continuation or just a sort of artistic ending? In the final episode, the "infiltrated" beta tester goes to the Osmosis headquarters to plant a virus on the brain super computer ; this fact alone she can access it without being bothered, followed then by her soulmate boyfriend Simon also not bothered by anyone is ludicrous - an example of a poor, understatement, writing which spoils it all. In general enjoyed the whole idea but it seems like rushed and cut to keep the 8 episodes formula. Pitty.
  • Utopian or dystopian atmosphere? I don't really care anymore: I did not concur with a far-fetched script and, in a secondary way, with an excessively plush atmosphere (champagne, Porsche, Haussmanian buildings, ...). I was bored, almost as much as the actors apparently! So, I cowardly abandoned, after two episodes. Although zapping becomes an easy habit with the ultra-quantitative NetFlix, I do not think this series deserves more consideration.
  • I really enjoyed it. Watched the whole thing in 2 seats. I couldn't stop watching, it can be a bit slow in the beginning but give it a chance, it gets better after the second episode. There's sci-fi , a bit of a thrill, love, drama , the characters dealing with loss and loneliness, doubts about love... what's not to like? I recommend it for the people who likes the genre. And yes, it has a black mirror touch, it can remind you of the "hand the DJ" episode, but it has it's own uniqueness..
  • First, note that lots of the bad reviews are from people who only watched one or two episodes. That's unfair. Listen to those who watched the whole thing, then decide.

The writing is mediocre, and the plot thin, but this is interesting enough to stick with for the 5+ hours it takes to watch all 8 episodes. It's an interesting premise, if not incredibly original, and the production values are fairly good. Watch it for mindless entertainment.
  • I tried to watch this show a couple or more months ago (can not even remember when, tbh) but could not pass the pilot. It was so bad, it made zero sense for any perspective possible.
  • I will admit the show is intriguing at first. Even though the premise is based on scifi, it lacks technical and credibility on the science front. The protagonists are flawed, however some of their shortcomings make it hard to believe how they got into the 'prominent' job they have.

The show is predominantly more drama driven, a study of different flawed characters, their interactions and how they deal with their situation. Numerous subplots are crumbled along the show, but none are really that clear making it feel overall messy.

If you can get past the lack of credibility of the setting and the plot, then this might be a show you enjoy if you're into slow burning messy dramas. As for me personally it was a pick out of curiosity for a chill tv night on Netflix but find it lacks anything of interest for me to come back and finis the complete season.

    Warning: Spoilers
In the same fashion of other series, Osmosis starts being intriguing, then it becomes more dull, slower, absurd and insultingly stupid with progress. The last minutes are a bunch of idiotic scenes. One for all: during the opening ceremony, anyone seems to be able to access the main core of Osmosis to hack it using an USB key, or to save his love from being killed.m, maybe to eat the nth croissant shown in the serie. It is clear that the production was finished in an hurry. What a shame
  • The idea is good actually but it is boring. Characters are not interesting. You can watch it if you have time, it gets better after the half. Actings are good though.
  • Not even 5 minutes into this they are already shoehorning information about the characters and relationships between characters through ridiculous dialog. Watch the first exchange between the brother and sister. They are cramming as much background story into a 20 second conversation as they can. It's pure laziness and after the first 2 episodes, it's apparent that this show is just a retread of other unoriginal ideas. Nothing new to see here. If you managed to sit through that show about interpretive dance called The OA - and you don't really want to see anything new, then go for it: Watch this.
  • The show has a rich storyline. Some sci-fi shows out there are quite glib in terms of character development. In Osmosis we enter the story in medias res, with fleshed out characters who each follow some agenda of their own. I would say this is an atypical sci-fi show in that the sci-fi feature is central to the story, but at the end of the day it is the characters that drive the plot. The first season kept me suspenseful in that I could not foresee where things were going. It is also interesting that the show presents a conflict between those who embrace what technology can do for humanity, and those who fear it. I think this conflict will resonate with those who have a deeper interest in the current socio-political reality we live in.

There is also an abundance of different characters to the point that I think every viewer will identify themselves with this or that character.

There is an underlying philosophical aspect of the show, in that in between everything going on from episode to episode, the show depicts what drives people, what motivates them, what are their biggest dreams, and how far they would be willing to go, to sacrifice, to betray, to lie to others and to themselves, and to hurt in order to get what they need or what they want.
  • Warning: Spoilers
I.enjoyed this show for the most part. No true heroes, just people struggling with their demons and hoping to find a better way of life. The science made sense to me, not that I understand it completely but I got the list of it. Pretty solid acting and a storyline that was fairly engaging.

    And then. . .

It all fell apart in the last two episodes. The female scientis ffalling in love and making love to an AI? A company who just put a ton of people into a coma and everyone being, aww shucks I am sure it's fine. Then OMG, that clichéd person sacrifices itself, but then is reborn. Don't even begin to try and explain that to me. HThe AI somehow created a replica of himself, put his AI mind into it and now they can live happily ever after? WTF. Let alone she sacrificed herself, but wait she comes back, even though it was impossible. Then the AI sacrifices itself and comes back even though that was supposed to be impossible.

The main characters were horrible and didn't deserve a happy ending. That was such bull. That hackneyed ending wasn't satisfying to anyone.

Niehls a out kills a girl, but then she wants him back Umm, shouldn't we be telling women to get out of abusive relationships? I mean is that girl that stupid. Love changed his deviant ways? The one guy almost loses the man he loves because of the program, but aww thats OK. How surprising the subject that was going to betray them has a last second change of heart as the man who she lied to came back out of the blue at just the right moment.

Really, it just makes me angry how this ended. End it with lives being ruined, people dying, feed us a warning about AI and messing with nature. I don't know what the point of this ending was our what message it was supposed to have. Give these miserable characters the misery they deserve. We are big boys and girls, we can take it. The forced happy ending was just stupid.
  • This awful french serie is about a sister helping her mother that is in coma at hospital, her brother who is a torment man incapable of managing a small company, a startup that has a new nano implant scifi product promessing match love and perfect porn to every one, but it still at beta and has a lot of faults and bugs but the candidates also are very wrong and problematic, and an Artificial Inteligency that is worst than that Microsoft Assistent Helper called Clippy or Mimi (MS Office 95).

All this very slow... 8 episodes that you will be running forward to finish, but at the ending you will want to sell your tv and cancel your netflix account!

Forgive this serie. Go repaint the wall and wait it to dry, it is funny, more that Osmosis.
  • It's interesting since its in another language it will sound werid listening to the English version. Though the storyline is good. Theirs sex scenes which is kinda alright because the whole point is their relating a software for humans that can finds love or soulmates for peolple. Just like how in this generation how some people meet on apps on their devices like tender or something other kind of social media. At first when watching it can be a bit confusing though if you continue watching it you'll maybe like it. It kinda reminds me about the red and blue pill.
  • Warning: Spoilers
I tend to agree with most reviews that say how the plot and the characters falls short and while I agree that the plot is slow at first and it speeds up at a point, it really falls down on the last or maybe 2 last episodes. And the thing is, the most problems with the "project " arise due to negligent administration and their lack of control on anything of importance AND risk management! It's unbelievable that this whole life-changing project is supposedly developed by a single person, in a company of 5 employees of which 2 have like almost no screen time. And a CEO, creator's "brother", with the sole importance of being the guy that started this thing or something, but basically the only thing he has on his mind is his babe, so I prefer to omit him. Ok since we now know who does what do you notice the problem? The company is REALLY small. So the employees should be trustworthy right? Lol no. Two of them go rogue each for their own reasons. What do the siblings do about this? Well basically nothing. And the most insulting thing is, that they treat the fact as something unheard of! They just give em a pat on the back. Beta tester goes rogue? Wow no one predicted that! If only there were a way to monitor the testers so they dont destroy the whole project! I mean the most important thing is to read their """"emotions"""" right??? I could go on and on on how security is handled, this company has more security holes than swiss cheese. And the last episode is outright insulting, on this thing AND plot wise. But apparently action must be shoved into the film in a mind-boggling fashion because otherwise it would not be """intriguing""".

And the best part? On the introduction of the beta testers everyone reassures them that "this is the MOST SECURE product EVER!" smh. It is an automatic bankruptcy with modern standards. Let alone on the far future.
  • It's poorly written and thus poorly acted (except for a few actors but not the most important ones sadly). Many cliché, unnatural scenes. And the scenario ? It looks like they did a brainstorming and listed things that could happen and then just made them all happen. And the resolution isn't always very convincing. The only good things are the visual quality, as well as the concept at the basis of the scenario.
