Maya Bishop probably never saw Carina DeLuca coming.
Hell, neither did we, but everyone knows the best love stories take you by surprise, and they’re not just about building a ship but a legacy.
And that’s what Station 19 did with the ever-lasting love story between these two women, resulting in a timeless, iconic love story in the Grey’s Anatomy Universe.
Maya and Carina happily canoodle baby liam as they think about their future together on the series finale. (Disney/James Clark )
Unsurprisingly, the lasting impact of love on the tragically canceled Station 19 is that of this endearing pairing who persevered through it all.
Subverting everything television commonly showcases about queer love, Marina manages to emerge as one of the few sapphic pairings onscreen that get their happily ever after.

If you love Chicago Fire, these are more shows like it for fans of firefighting drama!
Since 2012, Chicago Fire has been a mainstay for NBC. The kickoff of the One Chicago universe still enthralls viewers by balancing exciting emergencies with strong characters. Fans love to watch these firemen (and women) risking their lives while bonding as friends and romances.
There have been some shows like it, and many are quite similar to Chicago Fire. They can use the same thrills and drama while others focus more on the characters. A few stand out for their setting and even a light-hearted tone. For any fan of Chicago Fire, these nine shows are just the thing to fire up your TV binges!

Shondaland, the company behind hits such as Grey’s Anatomy, Bridgerton and upcoming murder mystery The Residence, is turning 20 this year.
Shonda Rhimes and her production partner Betsy Beers have been responsible for hundreds of hours of scripted television in that time.
At a Deadline-moderated panel session at NATPE in Miami, Beers talked about the past, present and future of Shondaland as it readies its latest show – The Residence starring Uzo Aduba. She also talked about the fourth season of Bridgerton, the future of Grey’s Anatomy and hopes to expand the company’s non-fiction slate.
Beers, who is being feted at NATPE as a “Shift Disturber” didn’t give too much away about season four of its steamy rom-com, which recently started production. “It’s about Benedict Bridgerton,” she joked when asked to tease the upcoming season, which will focus on Luke Thompson’s character and his love interest Sophie Baek,...

Station 19 star Danielle Savre, who portrayed Maya Bishop, discusses the show's seven-season run and its definitive ending in 2024. The Grey’s Anatomy spinoff, which followed the lives of firefighters and paramedics at Station 19 in Seattle, featured a strong ensemble including Jaina Lee Ortiz, Grey Damon, Jason Winston George, and Jay Hayden. The series garnered a dedicated audience and generally positive reviews for its diverse cast and engrossing plotlines. Sadly, Station 19 ended with season 7, although the reason for the cancellation is unclear.
During an interview with Screen Rant's Zak Wojnar, Savre discussed how the show’s conclusion allowed for a sense of closure for Maya and the other characters. Unlike many shows that leave their endings open for interpretation, Station 19 provided a complete and uplifting resolution, offering a glimpse into the future where the characters' goals are fulfilled. Savre expressed gratitude towards showrunners Zoanne Clack and Peter Paige for avoiding cliffhangers or tragic outcomes.

Station 19's Maya actor Danielle Savre has commented on a potential franchise return in Grey's Anatomy, explaining the possibility of coming back. Station 19's series finale offered bookends to many character story arcs, including Maya Bishop, a Captain on the team whose wife is Dr. Carina DeLuca (Stefania Spampinato). Carina is an Ob/Gyn Attending at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital, one of many connective elements between the two shows. While neither character has appeared since their spinoff ended, the possibility remains open that either of them could show up in the ongoing medical series.
Speaking with ScreenRant about her role on the NBC procedural drama Found, Savre said she would never rule out returning as Maya despite Station 19 being over. The actor addressed how the ending of the series still allows room for her character to return, still doing her job and potentially able to interact with Grey's Anatomy characters in the process.

NBC's Found follows the team at Mosely & Associates as they work with local law enforcement to find missing people before they're lost forever. The agency's founder, Gabi Mosely (Shanola Hampton), was abducted by Sir (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) during childhood. However, the pilot reveals that she turned the tables by capturing her former kidnapper and keeping him prisoner. In the show's second season, Sir has escaped Gabi's basement to pursue his own agenda, while still trying to prove his twisted affection.
Found season 2 introduces Danielle Savre's character, Heather Tollin, in the January 16 episode, "Missing While Targeted." Although she only plays an introductory role in the winter premiere, Savre will have a heavier presence as the season continues. The actor is best known for portraying Maya Bishop on ABC's Station 19, a Grey's Anatomy spin-off that ran for seven seasons before ending its run in 2024.

The medical drama has been popular for a long time. Several of network TV's longest-running procedural series have been in the medical genre. This includes ER, and an Emmy-winning series that ran from 1994 to 2009. Overlapping partially with this time frame was Grey's Anatomy, which began in 2005. Grey's has dominated television ever since, even prompting the spinoff series Station 19. Grey's Anatomy season 21 is in its mid-season break right now, and will return in March.
While long-standing medical dramas like these have fascinated audiences, it can be even more interesting when new shows come in to shake things up in this genre. Last year, for example, saw the release of Doctor Odyssey. The Ryan Murphy-created show took a more comedic approach to the medical procedural, taking place on a luxury cruise ship with a bumbling lead who clashes with his staff. This was met with mixed results, as Doctor Odyssey...

There’s not much that Danielle Savre can say about her Found character, whom viewers will meet in the January 16 midseason premiere, but something tells us she’s going to be fun to have around. The Station 19 vet debuts as Heather in the show’s return, and like pretty much every other character on this show, we have so many questions about who she is and her past. While Savre can’t share much, she does introduce her character, tease her relationships with Gabi (Shanola Hampton) and Trent (Brett Dalton), and more below. What can you say about Heather ahead of your debut besides that she’s a mysterious and ambitious attorney who comes in involved with the team? Danielle Savre: That was exactly what I was going to say. How did you know? There’s more to her than meets the eye, and I think her ambition is what drives her the most.

When flames erupt, who do you want to charge through the smoke to save the day?
TV firehouses have become as iconic as the heroes they portray, but which team would you trust with your life?
Let’s break down the choices — and some reasons to cheer (or chuckle) at each one. Then, make your pick in our poll!
Station 118 (9-1-1) (Disney/Ray Mickshaw)
Why They’re First-Rate: Fans of 9-1-1 know the 118 is the Swiss Army knife of firehouses.
Need someone to rappel down a collapsing high-rise? They’ve got you. Someone stuck in a tar pit? No problem. And if your rescue requires emotional support, Bobby’s fatherly wisdom and Buck’s puppy-dog enthusiasm have you covered.
Why You Might Hesitate: Sure, they’re excellent firefighters, but this crew attracts chaos.
From tsunami rescues to a runaway bouncy house, they’re not exactly bringing calm to your emergency.

ABC was very mean when it came to cancellations and endings in 2024. Four shows came to an end or were abruptly canceled, while the network announced that a fifth would wrap up in 2025.
2024 was not a good year for a lot of networks. We said goodbye to some great shows, and we’re still salty about some of the cancellations. There were a couple of ABC shows that we wanted to see more of, especially considering they ended with a shortened season due to the pandemic.
We take a look back at the cancellations of 2024. Hopefully, 2025 will be better.

2025 has officially arrived and with the new year ahead, there’s still time to look back on the year that was 2024. It was quite an interesting year for TV fans with the results of the 2023 actors’ and writers’ strikes bleeding into the new year leading to shortened seasons of some of the biggest shows on air and unexpected sendoffs for series that very well could have continued for many more seasons.
When it comes to cancellations, CBS by far had some of the biggest cancellations in broadcast in 2024 bringing a close to so many amazing shows including a handful of shows that very much remained at the top of the leaderboard in viewership. Fans were incredibly vocal about some of the choices CBS made, but The Eye network wasn’t the only network that made some difficult decisions leading to the end of a batch of amazing shows.

Some cancellations always hurt more than others. That was certainly the case for the broadcast TV shows in 2024. We are still salty about some of those decisions.
We know that some TV shows have to come to an end. The writing is usually on the wall for some of them. The linear ratings are down, or the show just isn’t getting great reviews. However, this year, there were some cancellations that were completely unjustified. Or we lost great shows that just didn’t have the chance to find their audiences.

There are very few comedies on TV now. This year has seen a few hits on NBC, but other networks have struggled.

Jay Hayden speaks on the possibility of making an appearance in Grey's Anatomy as his Station 19 character. Hayden is known for playing Travis Montgomery in the series Station 19, which began in 2018. Station 19 is a spinoff of the series Grey's Anatomy, following the lives of people who work in firehouse station 19 in Seattle, Washington. The series includes some crossover characters with Grey's Anatomy, most notably featuring Dr. Ben Warren, who is played by Jason George. Ben's wife Miranda Bailey, a beloved Grey's Anatomy character, also makes occasional appearances in the spinoff.

FBI: International has been going through pretty significant changes in recent years. The show added Chicago Pd alum Jesse Lee Soffer to its cast, and now, its adding Station 19 alum Jay Hayden. These two men are close friends, and Hayden will be joining International on December 10 as an "intelligent and charismatic" agent.
The details surrounding Hayden's character were initially kept under wraps, but the actor opened up about what fans should expect from his agent during a recent interview with Deadline. Hayden is eager to work with Jesse Lee Soffer “The Other Hard Part” – When a U.S. ambassador is taken hostage at a TV station in the Netherlands alongside 70 civilians, the Fly Team is forced to work quickly to find out who they’re up against.

About two decades ago, one of the biggest medical dramas in American television history aired on ABC. Grey’s Anatomy would go on to become the most popular hospital-based TV show and a household name, which is why it is still going on strong. And of course, as with any successful franchise, creators are always looking for ways to maximize their profits. The best way to do that is by the way of spin-offs, like Station 19.

Station 19 deaths became a big part of the show. Station 19 is one of Greys Anatomys spinoffs, and like its parent show, it has a penchant for both killing off main characters and putting characters in near-death situations. It seems that since establishing the characters in the first season, the show hasn't been afraid of killing at least one major character nearly every season since season 2. The Station 19 deaths, though sad for the audience, add an element of realism to the show.
As a firefighter show, its natural that characters have been killed off throughout the run of Station 19, as the characters face death multiple times a season due to their jobs. However, while most characters have survived these deadly circumstances, there are some who were not as lucky and didnt make it to Station 19 season 6, which has been relatively tame in terms of loss. We’re inching closer to the highly anticipated return of one of CBS’s top shows, and things are getting hotter than ever.
Jared Padalecki joining Fire Country has us geeking out because why wouldn’t we love a Thieriot-Padalecki bromance on our favorite surviving firefighter series? His character, Camden, will appear in three episodes of the third season with a significant purpose.
Many fans are wary of the staff addition, given that it’s a set-up for a third “Country” series, which is currently in the planning stage.
(Valerie MacOn/Afp via Getty Images)
Fire Country struggled through its second season, so news of slate of spinoffs isn’t as exciting as it should be.
What’s going to happen when that universe divides into new entities?
Despite our reservations about the spinoff news, most of us are loving the dreamy possibilities of Padalecki and Thieriot as sweaty, filthy firefighter buddies.

“Hacks,” “Fellow Travelers,” “Black Cake” and Ava DuVernay’s “Origin” were among the big winners on Thursday as Humanitas revealed its 2024 Humanitas Prize recipients. The ceremony, held at Avalon Hollywood, revealed honors in nine juried categories, including TV, film and documentary fields.
“We actually got something friends,” “Origin” filmmaker Ava DuVernay said in accepting the award for drama feature — which had been previously snubbed through last year’s Oscars season. “We went through that whole awards gauntlet, and then this popped up in the summer, and I thought, ‘wow, they’re kind of off kilter for the award season!’ Because they don’t care about that… they’re doing something different. This award show that is about doing something with this medium that matters. Yes, entertainment matters, but we have such a powerful voice, such a powerful platform. So I commend everyone that’s trying to say something.”

Exclusive: Is systemic racism still a thing?
The short answer is yes. And for the long answer, well, that’s something that Jason George and Todd Grinnell are unpacking in a video from Hollywood, Health & Society and USC Annenberg’s Norman Lear Center, which Deadline is debuting exclusively.
“[Racism is] still baked into our society, certainly on a personal level, but on a systemic level, these laws that were created after slavery was abolished to keep former slaves from being able to advance in society, were baked in to our systems, and still are there,” Kate Folb, director of Hollywood, Health & Society, told Deadline.
She revealed it took nearly a year to get the script right for the 9-minute video in which the two actors take viewers from the Civil War to modern day, illustrating how racism and the desire to protect slavery influenced the laws and systems that still control the United States today.

Jason George is starting to see art imitate life as he transitions back to a recurring role on Grey’s Anatomy following the cancellation of Station 19.
Seven years ago, George’s character Ben Warren left Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital, where he’d been training as a fifth year surgical resident, to pursue his second dream of being a firefighter.
Now, Ben is back for Season 21, resuming his residency program at the hospital with a lot more experience and a bit of a different perspective on life — which is basically how George feels about returning to the ABC medical drama.
“I’m loving being back,” he told Deadline in a recent interview, admitting that it does feel a little “weird.”
“It’s like, there’s the house you grew up in, and there’s the house you made as an adult. It’s not like my mom’s house is not mine.
